In ancient times, the horse was used to transport people, tools, weapons, and in some cases, even as a shield against Indian arrows. Nowadays there are several functions for the horse such as sport horses used for racing, rodeo, jumping, polo, riding, work, shooting, among others. In the events that use sport horses, they usually use the teeth as an indicator to calculate their ages. The age of the horse is also relevant in the purchase and sale of horses, however, most buyers or sellers do not know how to calculate their age. The objective of this project was to elaborate a manual for estimating the age of equines through their teeth. This manual aims to facilitate the determination of the age of horses with the sole purpose of serving as a tool for sporting events, producers, technicians and the general public.

The clinical signs, haematological data, anatomical and histopathological lesions and epidemiology of the disease known regionally as "Meada de sangre" or "Mal de orina" in cattle in Jujuy are described. The presence of Ptakiloside, the main toxic substance present in Pteridium arachnoideum, and the abundant distribution of this weed in areas of full coincidence with those where the disease occurs, together with the clinical and pathological characteristics found, considering possible differential diagnoses, allows establishing an etiological relationship with the disease. It is concluded that this disease corresponds to the condition known as bovine enzootic haematuria, with inflammatory and tumour lesions of the urinary bladder, associated with neoplasia of the digestive tract caused by chronic ingestion of this fern. The recognition of this intoxication in cattle allows us to infer possible risks to human health in these areas, due to the consumption of milk and meat from animals exposed to the consumption of Pteridium spp, a situation that warrants future studies in this regard.

Hemorrhoidal pathology is frequently encountered in medical practice. It is little studied in Chad, and very little data is available on anti-hemorrhoidal plants in Africa. The aim of this study is to identify medicinal plants likely to contribute to the traditional management of hemorrhoidal pathologies in Chad. Ethnobotanical surveys were carried out using a pre-established survey form from February 2020 to May 2021 with 47 Tradipraticiens de Santé (TPS) from the Provinces of Southern Chad. Phytochemical analyses were carried out in the laboratory of the Faculté des Sciences Exactes et Appliquées in N'Djamena. Data were entered and processed using Excel 2019 spreadsheet and SPSS.25 software. The results showed that there were 38 recipes made up of 40 species, some with a single species and others with a combination of two or three species. These species were divided into 22 families, the most dominant of which were the Caesalpiniaceae (12.50%). Roots (37.5%) were the most commonly used organs.

A cross-sectional study was conducted from November 2014 to June 2014 to work out the prevalence of hydatid cyst in cattle slaughtered at Addis Ababa Abattoirs Enterprise. Individual animals were selected using systematic sampling methods. Out of the overall 460 cattle slaughtered and examined at capital of Ethiopia Abattoirs Enterprise, 97(21.18%) cattle were infected with hydatidosis. The total annual economic loss due to organ condemned and carcass weight loss at Addis Ababa Abattoirs Enterprise was estimated to be 38577974.8 ETB (1950352.6188 USD). It can be concluded that hydatidosis is endemic and prevalent in cattle in the study area. Age and body condition of the animals are the major associated risk factors for hydatidosis infection. Therefore effort should be made to control the transmission of hydatidosis from slaughterhouse by the safe disposal of infected organs.

This research consists of three experiments whose objective was the evaluation of different substrates and yeast strains obtained from the fermentation of apple by-products. The first work consisted of the development of a yeast inoculum, using aerators to evaluate eight treatments, using different levels of ground apple, cane molasses and two yeast strains, Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Kluyveromyces lactis. The second work consisted of evaluating the in vitro fermentation behavior of eight yeast strains isolated from apple by-products, based on the results of the first study. The third work consisted of determining the optimum level of a yeast-based additive added to diets for high-producing cows by means of the in vitro gas production technique, using four treatments.

A determinação de uma técnica adequada para melhor estimar a incidência de ovos de parasitas, a fim de obter uma melhor compreensão da gestão das lamas, é fundamental para avaliar o risco ambiental e, indiretamente, a possível exposição das pessoas a ovos de parasitas. O objetivo deste estudo foi determinar a presença de ovos de helmintas em amostras de lamas brutas e estabilizadas da Estação de Tratamento de Águas Residuais do município de Coronel.

Os distúrbios da glândula prostática em caninos adultos incluem: Hiperplasia prostática, quistos prostáticos, inflamação e neoplasia escamosa. Estas afecções são difíceis de estabelecer através de exame físico e radiografias, pelo que é importante realizar outros exames para apoiar o diagnóstico, como a ecografia e a citologia prostática aspirativa por agulha fina (PAAF), de forma a prevenir e tratar atempadamente estas afecções. O objetivo deste estudo foi determinar a freqüência e o tipo de alterações prostáticas em caninos diagnosticadas por ultrassonografia e PAAF guiada por ultrassom em 25 caninos não castrados. Les troubles de la prostate chez les canidés adultes comprennent : L'hyperplasie prostatique, les kystes prostatiques, l'inflammation et la néoplasie malpighienne. Ces troubles sont difficiles à mettre en évidence par un examen physique et des radiographies. Il est donc important d'effectuer d'autres tests pour étayer le diagnostic, tels que l'échographie et la cytologie prostatique par aspiration à l'aiguille fine (FNA), afin de prévenir et de traiter ces troubles à temps. Diese Erkrankungen lassen sich nur schwer durch eine körperliche Untersuchung und Röntgenaufnahmen feststellen. Daher ist es wichtig, andere Tests zur Unterstützung der Diagnose durchzuführen, wie z. B. Ultraschall und Feinnadelaspirationszytologie der Prostata (FNA), um diese Erkrankungen rechtzeitig zu verhindern und zu behandeln. Ziel dieser Studie war es, die Häufigkeit und Art von Prostataveränderungen bei Eckzähnen zu bestimmen, die mittels Ultraschall und ultraschallgeführter FNA bei 25 unkastrierten Eckzähnen diagnostiziert wurden.
