Bag om A WOMAN'S CROWN
It's Just Hair¿
This comment is usually directed at Black women who believe that the way we wear our hair on a daily basis, is a profound decision that is often influenced by pervasive forces so deeply subconscious that we're mostly unaware of how much they drive us.
A Woman's Crown is an ode to authenticity - the way we each choose to show up in the world. It follows Neze Golden on a very personal journey from childhood to adulthood, as she repeatedly comes up against the cultural, societal, and historical mores that fuel the way that her particular hair type is viewed and treated to this day, as it remains the most misunderstood and maligned -even by the majority of those from whose very own heads it emerges.
This is a story of one woman's determination to stand up for herself and who she authentically is, in a world that tells her in many ways, that she shouldn't. It's a story of healing and self-discovery and the importance of choosing yourself.
