Baruch and the Letter of Jeremiah are among the so-called deuterocanonical books of the Bible, part of the larger Catholic biblical canon. Except for a short article in the Women's Bible Commentary, no detailed or comprehensive feminist commentary on these books is available so far. Marie-Theres Wacker reads both books with an approach that is sensitive to gender and identity issues. The book of Baruch--with its reflections on guilt of the fathers, with its transformation of wisdom into the Book of God's commandments, and with its strong symbol of mother and queen Jerusalem--offers a new and creative digest of Torah, writings, and prophets but seems to address primarily learned men. The so-called Letter of Jeremiah is an impressive document that unmasks pseudo-deities but at the same draws sharp lines between the group's identity and the "others," using women of the "others" as boundary markers.

These Bible studies provide a biblical perspective on heaven--something richer and more exciting than we can imagine.
What would it be like to have a sense of joy that continued even in times of trouble? Such was the deep joy that the apostle Paul experienced--even in prison. His contentment was neither dependent on circumstances nor changed by difficulty. In his brief letter to the Philippians, Paul will show you too how to live joyfully in every situation.
Industrial Inorganic Chemistry adds to the previously published graduate level textbooks on Industrial Chemistry by Mark A. Benvenuto. It focuses specifically on inorganic processes, from the largest industrial process for the production of major inorganic chemicals and metals, down to and including smaller niche processes that have become extremely important in maintaining the current quality of life. The book provides a survey on the production of essential elements and compounds, such as sulfuric acid, calcium carbonate, fertilizers as well as numerous metals and alloys. In addition to the fundamental scientific principles each chapter includes discussions on the environmental impacts: mining of raw materials, creation of by-products, pollution, and waste generation, all of which have become key factors for the potential implementation of greener methods. The author also highlights ways in which industry has begun to make industrial inorganic processes more environmentally benign. Examines major inorganic chemistry processes, their effect on every-day life and current efforts to improve processes or adapt "green" chemical production. Provides didactic links between theoretical lecture contents and current, largescale chemical processes. Valuable for students of Inorganic Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Materials Science.
Industrial Organic Chemistry examines all major industrial manufacturing technologies and reaction types with a focus on organic chemistry in general and petroleum refining in particular. The author takes a systematic approach to introducing the most important classes of organic compounds, from the C1 fraction through to polyaromatics and polymers. The author introduces biological sources for key compounds such as fuel and plastics and compares these bio-based organic materials to the corresponding petroleum-based chemicals. In addition to the chemistry behind processes in the petroleum, pharma, food and agrochemical industries, this book also discusses related topics such as process selectivity, waste management, and product purification. .

In early Christianity, many people were inspired to write gospels, treatises, letters, and stories celebrating the new faith, but not all of these writings are found in the New Testament. One such story from an unknown author is the Coptic, gnostic Apocalypse of Paul, a tale of the apostle Paul's ascent to the heavens that was lost for millennia and rediscovered at Nag Hammadi in 1945. In Flora Tells a Story, Michael Kaler discusses the Apocalypse of Paul and how it was shaped by its literary environment. The book takes a behind the scenes look at early Christian literary production, analyzing the ways in which various literary traditions-such as apocalyptic writings, gnostic thought, and understandings of Paul-influenced the author of the Apocalypse of Paul and helped to shape the text. It also includes a new annotated English translation of the Apocalypse of Paul and a fictional account of how it might have come to be written. This work is the most in-depth study of the Apocalypse of Paul to date and the only full-length discussion of it in English. It provides a detailed but accessible account of the literary environment in which its author worked and integrates this little-known work into the broader stream of early Christian writings. This book will be of interest to specialists in Nag Hammadi and gnostic studies and early Christian literature, but will also appeal to the general reader interested in Christianity, mysticism, and gnosticism.

In John 21:25, the writer and youngest Apostle of the twelve reminds us: the miraculous works of Jesus Christ in his thirty-three prolific years on Earth are too numerous to be counted. "If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written," states the New International Version of John's verse. In The Miracles of Jesus Christ and His Apostles in the Bible: Divine Miracles with a Divine Purpose, pastor and author Alfred Cherubim takes a chronological look at the thirty-seven miracles of Jesus Christ recorded in the New Testament, throughout the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Beginning with the wedding feast in Cana where Jesus turned the water into wine and ending with His second catch of fish at the Sea of Tiberias, Cherubim provides the beloved Bible verses that describe each supernatural act of the Messiah. One by one, in a growing crescendo, the miracles of Jesus unfold before readers' eyes and hearts, only to be followed by nineteen additional divine acts performed by His disciples-ordinary men aside from their association and communion with Jesus. From Peter walking on water (Matthew 14:28-31) to Paul healing the sick on the island of Malta (Acts 28:9-10), Cherubim tells the reader to remember: in the end, all miracles are God's miracles. As such, all are signs-accompanied by a message-that either meet a dire human need or confirm Jesus' identity and authority as the Son of God. The author reminds the reader that all Jesus' wondrous acts and those of His Apostles, although singular and extraordinary, exist for one divine reason. In the end, all miracles direct us to behold God's love, power, glory, and mercy, as they carry the ultimate message of eternal salvation to the beholder.
