This book assesses the application of the calcium looping technology for CO2 capture from cement plants. The cement industry contributes significantly to the anthropogenic CO2 emissions. Due to process inherent CO2 emissions, the application of CCS technologies is inevitable to fully decarbonise the cement sector and mitigate climate change. A comprehensive study regarding the suitability of various potential sorbents (i.e. limestone, raw meal and raw meal components) acting as CO2 carrier has been conducted using thermogravimetric analysis. Various integration options of the calcium looping technology into the cement clinker manufacturing process have been developed addressing different boundary conditions of the cement plants. The more mature options using fluidised bed reactors have been extensively studied at semi industrial scale. Furthermore, a novel concept using entrained flow reactors has been assessed by investigating the sorbent properties of various raw meals in such a system.

This book gathers the latest advances, innovations, and applications in the field of building design and construction, by focusing on new design solutions for buildings and new technologies creation for construction, as presented by researchers and engineers at the 3rd International Conference Building Innovations (ICBI), held in Poltava - Baku, Ukraine - Azerbaijan, on June 1-2, 2020. This research book aims to conceptualise the scale and spectrum of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) approaches in energy efficient building design and to develop its functional solutions with a focus on four crucial aspects of building envelop, building layout, occupant behaviour and heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems. Drawn from theoretical development on the sustainability, informatics and optimisation paradigms in built environment, the energy efficient building design will be marked through the power of data and BIM-intelligent agents during the design phase. It will be further developed via smart derivatives to reach a harmony in the systematic integration of energy efficient building design solutions, a gap that is missed in the extant literature and that this book aims to fill. Der fünfte Band der Reihe widmet sich dem Hamburger Halbmondhaus,das sich aus der Reihe repräsentativer Villen entlang der vornehmen Elbchaussee hervorhebt: ein sichelförmiges, reetgedecktes ehemaliges Stallgebäude, das 1796 vom dänischen Landbaumeister und Klassizisten Christian Frederik Hansen (1756-1845) entworfen wurde. Mit seinen unkonventionellen Bauten für aufstrebende, zugezogene Kaufleute prägte Hansen die Landhaus-Architektur Altonas maßgeblich. Sein Stil, mit dem gleichermaßen höfischer Stolz, internationales Flair und kaufmännische Nüchternheit assoziiert wurde, bediente sich stilistisch an der italienischen Renaissance ebenso wie an der englischen Landhauskultur oder der französischen Revolutionsarchitektur. Während das Haupthaus des Halbmondhauses heute nicht mehr existiert, überstand der markante "Halbmond" unterschiedliche Funktionen und Veränderungen. Er wurde schließlich 2019-2021 denkmalgerecht hergerichtet und für eine nachhaltige Nutzung ausgebaut.
