This book presents a cross-cultural investigation into the interplay between social capital and subjective well-being. Based on a quantitative analysis of the latest large-N cross-cultural data sets, including the World Value Survey and the European Social Survey, and covering various countries, it offers a comparative perspective on and new insights into the determinants of social capital and well-being. By identifying both universal and culture-specific patterns, the authors shed new light on the spatial and temporal differentiation of social capital and subjective well-being.  The book is divided into two main parts: The first discusses mutual trust, religious and cultural tolerance, and pro-social and human values as essential dimensions of social capital. In turn, the second part studies social capital as a source of subjective well-being and life satisfaction. Given its scope, the book will appeal to scholars of sociology, social psychology, political science and economics seeking a deeper understanding of the multi-faceted nature of social capital and well-being.

This book explores the development and implementation of the Clay Embodiment Research Method (CERM) with one of the most stigmatized, oppressed, and marginalized groups of women in Nepal: sex-trafficked women. It argues for the use of a feminist approach to such research given the prevailing patriarchal norms, cultural sensitivity of reproductive health, stigmatization of sex trafficking, and low literacy of the women involved. Beginning with an exploration of the author's relationship with Nepal and the women who guide the study, and the realization that a more accessible research approach was needed than the techniques otherwise commonly used, it discusses the use of clay and photography as ideal entry points to engaging with the women in the research and creating this ethical methodology for self-empowerment. Not only does the volume highlight extraordinary insights offered by the women involved in this study through the application of CERM, but also the recognition that its use requires expertise that can deal with the potential elicitation of trauma. The book makes the case for further study on improving the method's use in research, education, and therapy involving low-literate, stigmatized, oppressed, and marginalized populations, particularly where cultural sensitivity is an important consideration.A Feminist Approach to Sensitive Research is suitable for students, scholars, and researchers in Gender Studies, Sociology, Health Studies, Anthropology, and Asian Studies.

This book is on research methods and statistics for cross-cutting research. Framed from a multi-disciplinary perspective, the book presents and grapples with research methods and approaches used in research across disciplines. It magnifies the different contexts where research methods intersect and complement each other for effective data collection and analysis. Noting that most of the texts on research are field or subject specific regardless of the fact that most research methods and approaches today are complementary and overlapping, the book advances the argument that it is high time that researchers consider producing and using research texts that are multi-disciplinary and promote generative dialogue across fields. The novelty and richness of the book lie in its attempt to offer nuanced research methods and statistics, all in one book, which can be used in different disciplines and situations. More importantly and without romanticising the potential of multi-disciplinary research, the book offers added insights and pointers on trends and evolutions in contemporary research. The book is an important addition to debates on contemporary research and multi-disciplinary discourses that have taken centre stage in recent years in many universities across the world. The book is handy to students and practitioners across fields.
