A new wave of digital technologies has impacted the business world like a tsunami. But after a first phase characterized by hype and unrealistic expectations, there is now a shared need for a better understanding of how to create real and sustainable value by adopting these technologies. This book suggests a pragmatic approach to value creation by embracing the post-digital mindset: a more mature attitude toward digital innovation focused on putting these technologies at work rather than marveling at them. After the illustration of a post-digital manifesto, the book explores all the key topics and tools that are relevant for the decision makers in this context.
The adoption of multilayer analysis techniques is rapidly expanding across all areas of knowledge, from social sciences (the first facing the complexity of such structures, decades ago) to computer science, from biology to engineering. However, until now, no book has dealt exclusively with the analysis and visualization of multilayer networks. Multilayer Networks: Analysis and Visualization provides a guided introduction to one of the most complete computational frameworks, named muxViz, with introductory information about the underlying theoretical aspects and a focus on the analytical side. Dozens of analytical scripts and examples to use the muxViz library in practice, by means of the Graphical User Interface or by means of the R scripting language, are provided. In addition to researchers in the field of network science, as well as practitioners interested in network visualization and analysis, this book will appeal to researchers without strong technical or computer science background who want to learn how to use muxViz software, such as researchers from humanities, social science and biology: audiences which are targeted by case studies included in the book. Other interdisciplinary audiences include computer science, physics, neuroscience, genetics, urban transport and engineering, digital humanities, social and computational social science.Readers will learn how to use, in a very practical way (i.e., without focusing on theoretical aspects), the algorithms developed by the community and implemented in the free and open-source software muxViz. The data used in the book is available on a dedicated (open and free) site.
This book presents developments and future trends in e-commerce, which is shaped by customers' new digital communication and consumption patterns. Gerrit Heinemann sheds light on e-commerce business models, channel excellence as well as success factors such as digital time advantages and customer centricity. He analyzes the digital challenges and highlights the consequences and opportunities associated with online commerce. Recognized best practices illustrate how successful digital commerce works and what the "lessons learned" of the past years are.The 13th edition describes which new approaches will shape the future of online retail and which developments will remain long-term issues. While, for example, app and smartphone commerce, including mobile payment, continue to be long-running issues, the environmental issue is coming at online commerce with a concentrated charge. This means that people's growing need for more sustainability and consideration for the environment hasnow also arrived in e-commerce. This work is therefore devoted to sustainable e-commerce in the context of online logistics, which runs counter to the new trend towards quick commerce. The topics of climate neutrality and returns management are also increasingly coming into focus. In addition, current topics such as the marketplace theme and social commerce will be explored in greater depth. Furthermore, numerous new legal requirements are taken into account, which place increased obligations on marketplace operators in particular. The content- Meta-targeting and business ideas in online retailing- Business model of online trade- Forms of online trade- Business systems and benchmarks in e-commerce- Best practices and risks in online retailing

Business schools have been criticized for several things, such as lacking relevance, a too weak ethics orientation, dated paradigms, or commercialization. Simultaneously, there has been much positive change and accelerated dynamics toward forming future-ready companies and graduates. This book outlines how to better understand and master the digital transformation challenge. It is essential that business school deans, program directors, and faculty members embrace new opportunities to bring the UN-backed Principles of Responsible Management Education (PRME) to life successfully.Part of the Humanism in Business series, this book constitutes a valuable resource for leaders in universities and business schools, as well as individual faculty members aspiring to optimize how they respond to digital transformation. It can also be of use to those studying responsible management education, leadership and business ethics more generally.
The fast-paced technological development and the plethora of data create numerous opportunities waiting to be exploited by entrepreneurs. This book provides a detailed, yet practical, introduction to the fundamental principles of data science and how entrepreneurs and would-be entrepreneurs can take advantage of it. It walks the reader through sections on data engineering, and data analytics as well as sections on data entrepreneurship and data use in relation to society. By having read this book, students of entrepreneurship courses will be better able to commercialize data-driven ideas that may be solutions to real-life problems. Chapters contain detailed examples and cases for a better understanding. Discussion points or questions at the end of each chapter help to deeply reflect on the learning material.
Sustainable Management: The Complete Guide to Principles and Practice is both a core textbook, and a guide for teachers in one convenient volume.
Wang offers an empirically based exploration into work-integration social enterprises as a means for delivering social services in China.Focusing on the political economy of social enterprise development in China, Wang examines the nature of the relationship between the state and social enterprises and the implications of such relationships for their institutional effectiveness. She adopts a bottom-up approach that investigates indigenous practices embedded within the local political context. Common ground has been established internationally that the social enterprise model provides new ways of social service delivery that could potentially change and restructure the social welfare economy. However, the development path differs across social contexts, especially in an authoritarian country like China. This study provides insights into China's efforts to develop its social welfare sector and reinvigorate customary ideas about how public services could be better offered given the country's political economy. This book will be of great interest to both scholars of China's political economy and those with an interest in the development of the social enterprise sector looking to see how this works in a Chinese context.
