This book presents selected articles from INDIA SMART UTILTY WEEK (ISUW 2020), which is the sixth edition of the Conference cum Exhibition on Smart Grids and Smart Cities, organized by India Smart Grid Forum from March 03-07, 2020, in New Delhi, India. ISGF is a public private partnership initiative of the Ministry of Power, Govt. of India, with the mandate of accelerating smart grid deployments across the country. This book gives current scenario updates of Indian power sector business. It also highlights various disruptive technologies for power sector business.
The book covers in particular state-of-the-art scientific research about product quality control and related health and environmental safety topics, including human, animal and plant safety assurance issues. These conference proceedings provide contemporary information on the general theoretical, metrological and practical issues of the production and application of reference materials.Reference materials play an integral role in physical, chemical and related type of measurements, ensuring their uniformity, comparability and the validity of quantitative analysis as well as, as a result, the objectivity of decisions concerning the elimination of technical barriers in commercial and economic, scientific and technical and other spheres of cooperation. The book is intended for researchers and practitioners in the field of chemistry, metrologists, technical physics, as well as for specialists in analytical laboratories, or working for companies and organizations involved in the production, distribution and use of reference materials.
This book discusses possibilities and perspectives for designing and practical realization of novel intensive gamma-ray crystal-based light sources that can be constructed through exposure of oriented crystals-linear, bent and periodically bent, to beams of ultrarelativistic positrons and electrons. The book shows case studies like the tunable light sources based on periodically bent crystals that can be designed with the state-of-the-art beam facilities. A special focus is given to the analysis of generation of the gamma rays because the current technologies based on particle motion in the magnetic field become inefficient or incapable to achieve the desired gamma rays' intensities. It is demonstrated that the intensity of radiation from crystal-based light sources can be made comparable to or even higher than what is achievable in conventional synchrotrons and undulators operating although in the much lower photon energy range. By exploring the coherence effects, the intensity can be boosted by orders of magnitude. The practical realization of such novel light sources will lead to the significant technological breakthroughs and societal impacts similar to those created earlier by the developments of lasers, synchrotrons and X-rays free-electron lasers.Readers learn about the underlying fundamental physics and familiarize with the theoretical, experimental and technological advances made during last two decades in exploring various features of investigations into crystal-based light sources. This research draws upon knowledge from many research fields, such as material science, beam physics, physics of radiation, solid-state physics and acoustics, to name but a few. The authors provide a useful introduction in this emerging field to a broad readership of researchers and scientists with various backgrounds and, accordingly, make the book as self-contained as possible.
This book systematically summarizes the accuracy, precision, and repeatability levels of field-based tests applied in soccer. It considers such details as the effectiveness of tests for different age categories and sexes. In this book, the readers will be able to check all the field-based tests conceived for fitness assessment in soccer through a large systematic review made to the literature. In addition a brief characterization of each test and presentation of the concurrent validity and repeatability levels for each test will be provided. Finally, the book contains a general discussion of the implications of the tests for different methodological approaches to training. It will be use to sports scientists and practitioners.
This book provides a comprehensive guide to 3D Light-Field camera based imaging, exploring the working principles, developments and its applications in fluid mechanics and aerodynamics measurements. It begins by discussing the fundamentals of Light-Field imaging and theoretical resolution analysis, before touching upon the detailed optics design and micro-lens array assembly. Subsequently, Light-Field calibration methods that compensate for optical distortions and establish the relations between the image and real-word 3D coordinates are covered. This is followed by Light-Field 3D reconstruction algorithms which are elaborated for micrometer-scale particles and centimeter-scale physical models. Last but not least, implementations of the preceding procedures to selected fundamental and applied flow measurement scenarios are provided at the end of the book. Development and Application of Light-Field Cameras in Fluid Measurements gives an in-depth analysis of each topic discussed, making it ideal as both an introductory and reference guide for researchers and postgraduates interested in 3D flow measurements.
This book concerns precise measurements and their inherent uncertainty, with an emphasis on time and frequency measurement. Improvements in theaccurate measurement of time and frequency play a pivotal role in thedevelopment of modern science and our questioning of the fundamentals ofour universe.
