What is 'translation'? Even as the scholarly viewpoint of translation studies has expanded over recent years, the notion of 'translation' has remained fixedly defined by its interlinguistic element. However, there are many different contexts and disciplines in which translation takes place for which this definition is entirely unsuitable.Exploring translational aspects in contexts in which scholars do not think about 'translation', this book considers the alternative uses of the term beyond the interlinguistic dimension. Kwasi Wiredu (1931 - 2022). He was a Ghanaian philosopher. Often called the greatest African philosopher of his generation, his works, particularly the rallying call for conceptual decolonization of African thought, have greatly contributed to the development of postcolonial African philosophy. One of Wiredu's concerns when defining "African Philosophy" was the cognizance of the precolonial, colonial and postcolonial African thoughts that have to be linked. While recognising the central roles precolonial African cultures have towards the development of African philosophy, Wiredu maintains that African folk-beliefs and world views must be treated as heritages for the practice of philosophising. He, however, argues that the African heritages, both cultural and colonial, must be decolonised.

War and peace are the topics of the present book. No one will gainsay the assertion that peace is a vital value today, and that war is to be avoided since it is one of the most undesirable states of affairs. Therefore, the current book will address mainly the problem of war and aggression, and the possibility to live in peace. The dichotomy war-peace will be analyzed, including the problem of aggression and violence. We will begin our analysis with the problem of aggression, and we will go on with the problem of war then. The book will contain moral, psychological, philosophical and religious analysis. It will employ philosophical as well as Christian arguments and theses to analyze the problem. This still does not mean that the book will not have any value for the reader not interested in Christianity. Our analysis will demonstrate clearly that peace has many forms and could be defined in various ways; hence, the Christian conception of peace is one of them, but it will be shown that this conception meets the criteria set by common sense. Peace can be defined in geopolitical, in psychological, in moral context as well. Still, the Christian interpretation should convince the reader. It will be shown that we can have true peace only in God. Peace in the way we usually envisage it is not achievable on earth. The conception of the eternal peace is a utopia, although it is good to have hope that such peace could exist. But hope is one thing, and reality- completely different thing. We will show that it is possible to reduce military tension and conflicts in the world, but still, this will not lead to absolute peace.

Many applications benefit from sensing of several physical quantities. This is often done by integrating different sensing units or by designing material composites where each material responds to a distinct physical input stimuli. New research trends can be observed in the direction of exploring novel materials that respond to various input signals. These materials can be utilized for multi-modal sensing or for serving different functions in a sensor system such as sensing and storing. This holds particular significance with regard to enhancing the device simplicity and reducing the associated fabrication costs.This thesis explores the versatile properties of bismuth selenide for thermoelectric and thermoresistive sensing in combination with memristive storage. Bismuth selenide was synthesized by means of electrochemical deposition. Here, Bi2Se3 micropillars were achieved for the first time, which are tens of micrometers thick.

This thesis describes two groundbreaking measurements in the precision frontier at the LHC: the first ever differential measurement of the Z-associated single top quark (tZq) production, and the luminosity measurement using Z boson production rate for the first time in CMS. Observed only in 2018, the tZq process is of great importance in probing top quark electroweak couplings. These couplings are natural places for new phenomena to happen in the top quark sector of the standard model. Yet, they are the least explored directly. One has to obtain a firm understanding of the modeling of sensitive distributions to new top-Z interactions. The present analysis marks a major milestone in this long-term effort. All distributions relevant for new phenomena, and/or modeling of tZq, are studied in full depth using advanced Machine Learning techniques.The luminosity and its uncertainty contributes to every physics result of the experiment. The method minutely developed in this thesis provides a complementary measurement that results in a significant overall reduction of uncertainties.

Cela, plus ce qu'il dit de ses postulats, peut expliquer que cet article, et pas le autres, ai été autant critiqué.A Leyde en 1920, il reconnait l'éther de Lorentz pour la relativité générale, mais il lui retire son immobilité, sans pouvoir préciser pour autant, son mouvement. Ce n'est pas très clair.Nous avons trouvé une hypothèse très simple en mesure d'expliquer ce mouvement. C'est son article "L'éther et la théorie de la relativité" de 1921 qui nous a mis sur la voie. Il suffit d'appliquer la relativité générale à l'éther.Pourquoi « quantique » ? Les corpuscules de cet éther auraient une masse-énergie correspondante au quantum de Planck, comme ceux de la gravitation quantique à boucles.Des expériences sont proposées, ce serait dommage que des physiciens n'étudient pas cette possibilité.

The book describes the systems model based on Luhmann's theory of social systems and compares this to Latour's actor-network theory. It argues that present day society cannot be successfully modeled as a system and illustrates the transformation to a global network society by citing many examples from business, education, and healthcare. The authors argue that actor-network theory provides a more comprehensive account of these changes than systems theory. Based on actor-network theory, they propose a theory of the "digital transformation" that is ushering in the global network society.Although people in all areas talk about systems, adaptive behavior, evolution, complexity, and networks, few know where these concepts come from, and what they mean in the theories they belong to. This book is for all who are concerned with clarifying the often taken-for-granted assumptions and concepts that are implicitly or explicitly derived from systems theory and network theory.
