In the midst of his spiritual anguish, Martin Luther discovered a profound truth that was completely new to him. Since Jesus had already secured a place in heaven for him, he was no longer bound to earn God's forgiveness and favor. Instead, Jesus had called him to be bound to his neighbors in love. More than that, he wanted Luther to see that his neighbors' needs provided his life with a daily and never-ceasing divine purpose. The same holds true for every Christian. Everything we do to supply our neighbors' needs - in every walk of life, whether big or small, easy or hard - is a truly good and religious work, even when the world takes no notice. Fulfilling simple tasks for others makes our lives truly God-pleasing because we're doing what he created us to do rather than inventing our own ways to please him. "Therefore, it happens," Luther later concluded, "that [when] a pious maid does what she is ordered and according to her office sweeps the yard or carries out the manure, or a servant in the same way plows and drives a team - they are walking straight toward heaven on the right road" (AE 75:355).The intention of this brief volume is to explore and summarize what Luther discovered and taught about the doctrine of vocation so that readers can apply these important lessons to their own lives, find comfort, confidence, and purpose in their very unique and necessary callings from God, and rejoice in the fact that they are free to serve in Christ.
A groundbreaking study of Farid al-Din ¿A¿¿¿r, one of Persian literature's greatest poets.
Aims to let silence disclose itself by cultivating attunements with silences' happening.
"Socrates once said that a good person does not worry much about the little things, like whether he lives or dies, but only about the one big thing: whether he is a good person or a bad one. In Ethics for Beginners, celebrated philosopher Peter Kreeft reclaims the importance of ethical study in answering life's big questions: What is the meaning of life? How should I live? How should I treat other people? Unlike many modern texts on the subject, this one asserts that ethics is real, that good and evil are knowable, and that we can learn to act well and so become better and happier people. Surveying the "big ideas" of the thirty-two most important ethical philosophers, Ethics for Beginners is an apprenticeship to the greatest minds in history. With expert analysis and reflection from Kreeft, it offers a challenging and unforgettable treatment that is suitable for classroom and individual use alike"--
A sanctuary for the soul, inviting individuals to find solace and transcendence in the delicate interplay between the earthly and the divine.
John 3:16 is perhaps the best known verse in the entire Bible. In this short book, the author focuses on the word 'world' in the verse which is the focus of debate between Arminians who believe the world referred to meaning everyone without exception and Calvinists who tend to view the world as meaning everyone without distinction. The author takes a Calvinist viewpoint and believes that the 'world' of John 3:16 is a general, indefinite term meaning 'sinners from all the nations,' while also maintaining that this 'world' consists only of those who are saved, here designated 'everyone who believes' and elsewhere identified as God's elect. In the book, the author discusses the problems with the Arminian viewpoint and the strengths of the Calvinist view. The book is enhanced by a large number of relevant Scripture verses and references and by quotations from Calvinist thinkers from John Calvin and John Knox through to the present day. The author is from Glasgow, Scotland and writes out of the Scottish Presbyterian and Reformed traditions in which he has been steeped for over thirty years as a Christian and teacher of Christian doctrines.
The Glorious Future is about the Biblical doctrine of the Last Things. It concerns prophetic truths from both the Old Testament and the New Testament which shed light on the rule of Christ in history and of His coming again at the end of the world. In that connection it deals with the implications of death, judgment, heaven and hell. The author provides a brief interpretation of the book of Revelation and addresses the question of the nature of the Millennium and its significance. This is a brief but lucid study of Biblical teaching which brings out the practical and spiritual importance of readiness for death and the coming again of the Lord Jesus Christ.
In this book, Deism, the effects of Deism in the West and the East, the relationship and differences between Deism and Islam are discussed from an Islamic perspective in the light of historical and modern data. Deism has been criticized with explanations about the existence of God, the necessity of prophecy, life after death and similar issues.
How many more Wars will Israel have to Fight? Will Israel ever have 'Peace and Security'? The purpose of this Book is to ascertain several Notions of why Jerusalem, of all the Cities on Earth will draw all Nations against her in the Last Days. The Old Testament Prophets wrote of how the entire World would be getting 'Drunk' over Jerusalem in an attempt to possess her. Why? Control Jerusalem and one Controls the World. This is predicated on the Biblical Nuance that the City was deliberately placed at the Center of Humanity. That is what Jerusalem is all about, has been, is and will be. It is about Control. It is about having Power over the Promised Land, Jerusalem and the Temple. Why? Having control of all these Facets gives one the potential to Control the Heavenly Promised Land, the New Jerusalem and the Temple that equally has such a Constitution. This Book will present various Arguments, Assessments and Commentary from several Aspects. Foremost, the Context and Background will be that from an Evangelical Christian Perspective. This included the End of the Church Age that is to be concluded by the Rapture Event. Then one will filter the various Geo-Political Assessments, based on one being a Political Scientist by Degree. One has also had the Opportunity to travel to the Middle East, to both the Jewish State and an Arab Muslim State. One will also offer some Military Perspectives, as one had another Opportunity to participate in the Israeli Sar El Program that partners with the Israel Defense Force, IDF. One had a 1st Hand Perspective 'Behind IDF Battle Lines'. It was an Invaluable Experience that one will incorporate when presenting the following Assessments, Arguments and Commentary about why Israe still has 3 Major World Wars to Fight. Understanding biblical prophecy requires an open and flexible mind based on a cohesive and contextual understanding of the Bible. When Roy Anderberg first began studying the end times forty-one years ago, he was coming from the vantage point of only one view. He soon realized there were several views to consider, and in time, he switched his view to one he felt was closer to the ultimate truth. However, the more he studied, the more details came to light, and he once again modified his view. Today his anchor is on a short chain, ready to pull up in a moment of new discoveries. While Anderberg now ascribes to a detailed pre-millennial, post-tribulation, single-advent model, he wrote Prophecy Explored to assist others in understanding the nuances of all three major views-Preterism, Historicism, and Futurism. In Prophecy Explored you can benefit from Anderberg's forty-plus years of study, come to your own conclusions, and have the knowledge needed to defend and support those conclusions.
To appreciate the theological genius of Hans Urs von Balthasar, we must note his inseparable connection with Adrienne von Speyr. Balthasar referred to Von Speyr as the inspirational source of his theological vision and literary achievements. Says Balthasar: 'Her work and mine are neither psychologically nor philologically to be separated: two halves of a single whole, which has as its center a unique foundation' (My Work: In Retrospect, 105, 89).This 'unique foundation' is a mystical apprehension of the immanent Life of the Trinity. At the heart of the Trinity, Balthasar and Speyr see a primordial Mystery of Kenosis, i.e., self-dis-possession. Balthasar terms this Trinitarian self-expropriation Ur-kenosis, since the self-emptying (kenosis) within the Trinity applies not only to Christ but also to the Father and the Holy Spirit. The Father divests himself of himself in the begetting of his Son; the Holy Spirit is the fontal Power of self-abnegation (kenosis) within the Trinity, so 'emptied of himself' that he, as Spirit, is absolutely incognito.DIVINE KENOSIS is an attempt to draw attention to the neo-patristic synthesis and anagogical vision promoted by Han Urs von Balthasar and Adrienne von Speyr. It is also an extension of my personal mission to 'promote a Trinitarian vision of deification and contemplative prayer.'

These essays by John Nevin, theologian of Mercersburg Theology, are united by two primary themes: Part 1 documents Nevin's noteworthy and innovative application of idealist philosophy to Reformed theology in antebellum America. American Christians largely rejected any inherited philosophical discipline or categories, claiming the right to invent moral and religious reality without attention to Christian tradition. The paradoxical result was authoritarian rationalism: religious doctrines imitated scientific reasoning (""common-sense"" philosophy) but were imposed by ecclesiastical fiat. In contrast, Nevin summoned his fellow theologians to pay fresh attention to the Idea: the rational unpacking of transcendent truths in being, moral right, and revelation. Part 2 then documents his criticism of the predominant Christian alternatives in the mid-nineteenth century. Such alternatives were deeply flawed, Nevin thought, as they necessitated that supernatural reality be experienced through an external authority demanding assent and obedience--the pope, a body of bishops, an authoritative Bible. But for Nevin, ""supernature"" is Jesus Christ himself who generates and sustains the reality of which the church speaks. Thus the highest Idea was Jesus Christ, now incarnate in the history and sacramental and liturgical life of the church.
In this book Peter Carnley examines the logical connection between the doctrine of the Trinity and the doctrine of redemption. In the companion volume to this, Arius on Carillon Avenue, contemporary expressions of belief in the "eternal functional subordination" of the Son to the Father were carefully discussed and found wanting when measured against the norms of orthodox trinitarian belief. This book examines the repercussions of this defective "trinitarian subordinationism" in relation to recent attempts to defend the "penal substitutionary theory" of the Atonement, which in turn is also found to fall short of trinitarian norms. As an alternative a less theoretical and speculative "incorporative" or "participative" theology of redemption is proposed.
Antonio Rosmini (1797-1855) was a genius who combined science and sanctity. His contribution turns on the theory of the suspended middle of the original relationship between the natural and the supernatural, which he experienced and elaborated. The device of the relationship between the original metaphysical-affective-symbolic structure of the believing conscience and the affective turn in metaphysics, intrinsically linked to his trinitarian ontology, allowed Rosmini to elaborate theories and epistemologies from a unitary perspective in various fields of knowledge. This volume indicates the implications of the unbreakable bond between Rosmini's philosophy and theology in disciplines such as pedagogical science, political science, and juridical science. Following the favorable resolution of the "Rosminian question" the Catholic Church beatified Rosmini in 2007 and in 2018 indicated his theoretical-practical approach as a universal education model to be followed. Through essays by major experts in Rosmini's thought, this curatorship offers an international public a brief, reasoned overview of Rosmini's thinking on these disciplines, finally translated into English, so that this perspective can be understood and explored with particular regard to the possibility of encouraging ecumenical comparison between Rosmini's suspended middle and, for example, that of Radical Orthodoxy.
Following Fritjof Capra's arguments in The Tao of Physics, this book seeks to draw a connection between Western mysticism and theoretical physics, specifically between string theory and the Hebrew esoteric tradition of Qabala, arguing that the structure of space-time is defined by the Qabalistic Tree of Life. Modern theories developed to combine the incompatible theories of relativity and quantum mechanics nearly always postulate that the Universe is defined in more dimensions than we are aware of - 10 in the super-symmetrical string theories, and 11 in M-theory and 11D supergravity. This implies that, in addition to the four dimensions from special relativity, there exist six more compactified onto a 6D complex geometry.
Reformulates the notion of the ego and provides a new perspective for understanding ego development and the role of the ego in spiritual life.
When did the Pentecost of Acts 2 occur? Is this 'Pentecost' the same as the Feast of the Jewish 'Shavuot'? What if nearly 2000 Years of Church History has been wrong about this? What if, in fact there are 3 'Shavuots', which just mean a Counting of 7 Weeks or 49 Days? What if the Interpretation of Leviticus 23:15-16 has been Obfuscated to not reveal that there is a 'Double-Count' of 49+1 Day and then a Subsequent Counting of 50 Days? What if this New Understanding of when Pentecost of Acts 2 actually coincided with the Feast of the First Fruits of the New Wine? Why is this Topic of importance? It could very well be the Clue to the Timing of the Rapture that will conclude the Church Age Commission and Witness to Jesus. The purpose of this Book is to provide a Compilation of Articles over several Years of 'Discovery' into the Journey of Identifying where and when the True Count of Leviticus 23:15-16 occurred, i.e., the Feast of New Wine, precisely at a 99th Day Count. The challenge that his Book tackles is what is the Start Date? Why? This initial Start Date will determine the exact Day in which the Feast of New Wine, and thus the Pentecost of Acts 2 occurred. But then, which Calendar? There are the Enochian, Solar and Essene Calendars that are hinged upon the start of the Spring Equinox. This is what one does prefer to take into account. However, within this Solar Calendar, there is a Discrepancy as to what constitutes the New Month, the New Year, etc. In this regard, one will explore and use the various Calendar Start Dates to plot-out the 99 Day Count. The other major Discrepancy has to do, also with Leviticus, of how the Count is determined from the 'Marrow after the Sabbath'.The Evidence provided will show how that plays-out in determining the True Day of the Acts 2 Pentecost or 2nd Shavuot'. Lastly, the other main way of deterring the Shavuot, at least the 1st one, that the Jews and Christians agree is the Shavuot of the initial 49 Days or Count of 7, 7's is based on the 'Counting of the Omer'. However, with the New Understanding of the Temple Scrolls found among the Dead Sea Scroll, there is ample Evidence to collaborate the Notion that in fact, there were 3 Feasts of the First Fruit, beyond the Week of Passover.
What happened to the Revelation 12 Sign? Was it all just 'Hype'? In part, it was made out to be that, unfortunately. It did raise Awareness to the Nearness of the Rapture as it was a Type, and still is, but in what Year? As one often says about Biblical Prophecy, 'The Sign is not the Event'. But Prophecy is Pattern. So, the Celestial Sign was and is about the Rapture Event. This Book is also the Sequel to one's Original Research one, titled:'The Great Sign of Virgo'. ISBN: 1716360773.The purpose of this Book is to Chronicle the Amazing Astronomical Sign that one has Researched since it was 'Discovered' way before anyone would have suspected its Prophetic Impact on September 23, 2017, and Beyond. This Book will discuss the 'Beyond' of what happened with the Signs as one has observed its various Nuances over the Years since then. One will be presenting various Articles as to how one is more convinced that the Revelation 12 Sign is indeed the 'Sign of the Rapture' for the Bride of Christ. But it is also the Sign for the Remnant that will escape the 'Red Dragon' or the AntiChrist that will seek to Destroy her. When? One will argue that the Revelation 12 Sign is the Midst or Mid-Point Sign of the 7-Year Tribulation Period. One is now more convinced, after nearly 15 Years of Researching the Sign, that it is a 7-Year Countdown to the Rapture that will conclude the Church Age.One argues that, although the High Rapture Watch Years approach, one is considering the Summer New Wine Wheat Season as the most likely Rapture Timing Window. As most who study the End Times can attest, there is a Transition back to Israel, as the World seems to be fixated in the Middle East. It will draw in the entire World as that is what Prophecy foretells will exactly Happen. And it has to do with the Revelation 12 Sign that will Front and Center, dissecting the 2 Halves of the 7-Year Tribulation Period. It is at that Time that then the Witness of Jesus on Earth will revert back to the Economy of Israel. And this will be mainly accomplished by the 144,000 Jewish Evangelists and the 2 Witnesses. Thus, if the Revelation 12 Sign was and is a 7-Year Countdown to the Rapture of the Bride of Christ, and when the Abomination of Desolation is to occur, at the 2029 Mid-Point, that is being based on a 2025-2032 Tribulation Timeline.
