Bente Holm Viuf bygger sin bog på mange års egne akademiske studier samt praktisk erfaring samlet gennem hendes arbejde som sogne-, sygehus- og beredskabspræst. Bogen er en udvidet udgave af talrige oplæg og foredrag holdt for forskellige grupper af sygehuspersonale, plejehjemspersonale, andre kommunalt ansatte, studerende og præster.
