Die Beantwortung der sich stetig aufwerfenden Fragen setzt neben einem Verständnis für die zugrundeliegende Technologie und der zivilrechtlichen Einordnung vor allem eine kritische Auseinandersetzung mit den Grundsätzen des deutschen Steuerrechts voraus. Die vorliegende Arbeit gibt zunächst einen Einblick in die technischen Grundlagen von Kryptowährungen sowie den einzelnen technischen Implikationen. Nach einer kurzen zivilrechtlichen Würdigung werden Einblicke in die einzelnen Aspekte der Besteuerung, insbesondere auf die differenzierte Betrachtung innerhalb der einzelnen Krypto-Token Typen und der verschiedenen Anwendungen gewährt. Ein besonderer Schwerpunkt stellt dabei die Besteuerung von Krytpo-Token aus seiner Hard-Fork dar, deren Besteuerung nach dem deutschen Steuerrecht einen über die Ansicht des BMF hinausgehende Handlungspflicht des Gesetzgebers erfordern dürfte.
