The purpose of this reprint is to present current research on identifying and supporting giftedness and talent in schools all over the world. This reprint contains 19 articles from differing international contexts: Australia, Austria, Finland, France, Greece, Norway, Scotland, Sweden, Turkey, and the USA. By sharing differing approaches with one another, we can learn and be inspired as to how to deliver quality educational experiences for gifted children and students. Diverse approaches to identification include broad (even 'fuzzy'), multi-categorical, and curriculum-specific opportunities for talent to emerge within enrichment programs. Diverse approaches to gifted education support include differentiated teaching or curriculum content, such as the use of transdisciplinary, holistic education; acceleration; ability-grouping; special programs; and enrichment opportunities. Alongside these considerations are why we engage in gifted education, specifically the needs and educational rights of children and students. We take a holistic approach to education in schools and early childhood education that includes cognitive, emotional, social, and moral domains concerning giftedness and talents. This means that all aspects of a gifted learner are important, not just their academic achievements. We increasingly find that gifted child and student well-being is tied to the identification and support they receive in schools and early childhood services.
A richly illustrated collection of stories from the New Testament.
Chipeta was the wife, confidant, and advisor to Chief Ouray of the Tabeguache band of Ute Indians in the mountain regions of Colorado. She was respected as a wise woman by both Utes and non-Indian people.
Justina Ford was the first African American female physician to practice medicine in Colorado. Facing the obstacles of race and gender bias, she spent half of a century caring for people of all races and circumstances.
With current surging polarities of perspectives, dangerous culture wars and immanent threats to the human social and ecological fabric, it is a good time to rediscover the true meaning of fear through the eyes of a creative and endearingly outrageous educator who taught ¿Fear is not the enemy.¿ Through a combination of fi ction and non-fiction, this book offers a fi rst documentation of the philosophy and story of Samuel Nathan Gillian Jr. (1939-2006), an African-American educator-activist from the Bronx, New York. Fisher takes readers on a journey of growth and development with a protagonist named Deana, a sophomore college student, as she comes to understand the radical importance of her Uncle Sammy¿s life and work. Embellished with the intellectual rigor of a biography of a wise man, Fisher tracks his own relationship and those who knew and loved Samuel as the tension grows to a pitch in the story. Yet, the real brilliance lies in the psychological, philosophical and spiritual twists Sam Gillian brought forward in two stunning books on fear (2002, 2005) that this book revives. Fisher, who has studied fear systematically since 1989, has never met a unique thinker like Sam Gillian. Through Fisher¿s eyes, the special signifi cance of Gillian¿s work is brought to the general and well-educated reading public. An essential book for post-secondary education on fear management, a resource guide for school teachers, parents, psychologists, policy makers and anyone who seeks to help humanity establish a sustainable, moral and healthy relationship with fear.
Some of my earliest memories on Sunday mornings were in my grandmother's Children's Church Services. And, it wasn't just me! She taught this class for decades. I have no idea how many lives she touched. Long before the Internet with resources at your fingertips, Grandma created a lot of her own materials. I most remember her ABCs Bible verses. Except, it was a long time ago. I didn't remember all the verses. To create this book, I relied on my memory, asked my cousins, reviewed a list my mother wrote, and made a few personal changes when other verses inspired some illustrations.Of course, Grandma only used the King James Version of the Bible. I mostly used the New King James Version. I hope that my grandma doesn't mind.

Canada is one of the few nations in the Western world that does not teach its history to its young people and to its new citizens. The result is a nation that does not understand and respect its past. J. L . Granatstein's impassioned evaluation of the study. and teaching of Canadian history is even more relevant today than when it was first published nine years ago. The original edition of this slim but eloquent polemic caused a stir with its revelations that Canadian history had all but vanished from schools and universities in favour of trendy subjects and specialized social history.Almost a decade later, however, nothing has been done, and even less Canadian history is taught today in most provinces. In this revised edition-updated with a new introduction and conclusion, and two new chapters-Granatstein once more addresses the question of who killed Canadian history and offers detailed suggestions for putting history back into the schools and the minds of Canadians.
Are you a servant of Christ? Author James Alan Lynch asks three crucial questions to help us explore where we are along the path to obedience.

One of #OprahsFavoriteThings of 2024! As Oprah says on OprahDaily.com, "Financial expert Mellody Hobson wrote this children's book to encourage financial literacy, but I bet, like me, many adults will learn fun facts about money--such as where the word greenbacks came from." An instant New York Times bestseller! Mellody Hobson, barrier-breaking pioneer in the world of finance, demystifies money for kids with a look at some wild and weird facts about what makes the world go round. What is the meaning of all those symbols on US bills (and why are they so hard to counterfeit)? What's with people calling money "bacon" or "cheddar" or "smackeroonies"? With savvy and wit, financial expert Mellody Hobson sheds a friendly light on a daunting subject, from the meteorites that created the first mineral deposits to the ancient Maya who used chocolate as currency to the beginnings of the banking system itself. Readers learn about bartering, profit and loss, the origins of credit, ATMs, and even fun facts about money around the world. In her first children's book, Mellody Hobson brings excitement to the realm of financial literacy and gives kids the tools they need to navigate money now and in the future. Featuring energetic artwork by debut illustrator Caitlin Stevens, amusing skits starring a cat and bunny who converse in money idioms, and inserts depicting the author and her business partner as kids just learning how money works, Priceless Facts about Money is an inviting, entertaining, and richly educational resource for every child.

How can new technologies be apprehended in and adapted to a research context? How to provide efficient online training to junior researchers? What are the implications of a digital environment on teamwork? At a time when video mediated interactions are becoming common, this book puts forward some answers in the shape of a conceptual toolbox adapted to Researchers' new realities and experiences. The concepts and methods we created can be used for the study of any screen-based interaction, either formal or informal (in professional, institutional, and mundane settings). Through an interdisciplinary approach, we study various aspects of screen-based interactions and analyse the effects of artefacts such as telepresence robots and videoconferencing platforms within a hybrid context that combines presence and distance. The chapters constituting this book particularly shed light onto the co-construction of attention, the emergence of artefacted intercorporeality, new norms of politeness, effects of presence, the management of digital bugs and interactional fails, and finally the impact of such a hybrid context on doctoral students' training. The authors lay the foundations of a Visual Reflexive Ethology by placing themselves as the object of analysis, and situating multimodality, subjective experience, and sensoriality at the heart of Interaction Analysis, from data observation to scientific dissemination. In coherence with the book's object of study, the chosen format and production process have allowed the experimentation of a new publishing ecosystem based on collaborative remote work environments and on the free dissemination of knowledge.

In Buddhist monasticism, women are relegated to second rank, mainly for two reasons: first, they do not always have access to the same level of education as their male counterparts and are therefore not credited with the same learning (erudition); second, in some countries, they are excluded from one or all ordination rites. Thus, we have, on the one hand, full-fledged monks, and on the other, female religious practitioners who, in several Asian countries, are not ordained (Burma, Sri Lanka and Thailand) or are only semi-ordained (India, Mongolia, Nepal and Tibet). As for Chinese and Korean monasticisms, there are fully ordained nuns, but they still have to respect traditional norms regarding gender hierarchy. The resulting asymmetry between ordained men and women is a facet of living Buddhism. However, in recent decades, Buddhist nuns are also taking steps to resolve some of the discrimination they face, thereby showing their agency.
