Personally, I find this book to be very helpful. I have to admit that I still need some polishing in the communication department. As the author explained, it is fear that hinders effective communication. It is the negative element that demoralizes yourself even before you get started. However, after going through the topics, I’ve learnt that it can be controlled and be used to one’s advantage. Once in check, half of the battle has been won, the remaining battle will have to depend on the communication skills as suggested in the book which can be developed through practice and determination. Highly recommended for those who wants to improve one’s conversation skills.
Really enjoyed reading this, and definitely on board with the idea that social skills are SKILLS that can be improved upon. Having moved many times growing up, I learned early on that making new friendships is key to a happy social life. Maintaining those friendships across great distances is important, but new beginnings are also fragile and will disappear if they feel unwanted or uncared for. I'll try the ABC storytelling exercise and build up ,my interesting story toolbox.
Really well thought out and an enjoyable read! This book holds your hand and helps you overcome fears in public speaking whilst also remaining a fantastic reference point for more experienced public speakers and coaches like myself. Presented in just the right way, you can feel the years of experience which have been transferred into the book.
