"O Bobo" is a historical novel by Alexandre Herculano, first published in 1843. The story takes place in the year 1128, days before the battle of S. Mamede. The novels shows the contemporary plots and strategies used by both armies, as well as the reason for the hatred that D. Afonso Henriques has for Count Peres de Trava, his mother's lover.
