Master's Thesis from the year 2022 in the subject Pedagogy - Media Pedagogy, grade: A, University of the People (Higher Education), course: Master of Education in Advance Teaching and Learning, language: English, abstract: This study examines the effects of cooperative learning on student engagement in online classrooms during the COVID-19 pandemic.The COVID-19 pandemic led to a global disruption of the educational system, forcing schools to employ innovative methods such as online learning to cater to the needs of learners. Despite presenting certain challenges, notably in classroom management, online learning has emerged as an effective measure in reducing learning deficits brought about by the pandemic. This study evaluates the efficacy of cooperative learning in boosting student engagement (ages 13-18) within an online classroom setting.
Forest restoration is not new in Ghana. The participation of community members in forest restoration has been identified as an integral factor in any successful forest restoration project. The study assessed the economics of community participation in the restoration of Bobiri forest reserve in Kubease, in the Ashanti region of Ghana. Data was collected from a sample of 400 respondents in the community of Kubease through a simple random technique. It was realized from the study that, all respondents (100%) enjoy some benefit(s) from the forest reserve. The benefits range from household ones (53.75%) to commercial (19.25%), traditional or cultural (6%) and environmental protection purposes (21%). The results showed that majority (87.25%) of the respondents were willing to contribute participation fees for the restoration of the Bobiri forest reserve (BFR). About 34% of the respondents contributed a participation fee ranging from GH¢1 ¿ GH¢4 and majority (54%) contributed a participation fee ranging from GH¢5 ¿ GH¢100.
Bachelor Thesis from the year 2018 in the subject Pedagogy - School System, Educational and School Politics, grade: 5 (GHA-System), University of Education (Distance Learning), course: Post Graduate Diploma in Education, language: English, abstract: Students¿ academic performance is a key feature in education. This study was therefore conducted primarily to assess the factors contributing to improvement in academic performance of Junior High Students (JHS) in a Basic School which is in the Gomo-East District in the Central Region of Ghana. The mixed and descriptive research design was used and a sample size of 87 respondents (79 students and 8 teachers) were selected through random sampling technique.The findings revealed that the average academic performance (47.0%) of the JHS students in the Basic School is weak and their performance in Mathematics (average score of 31.48%) and English Language (average score of 39.99%) is a fail. It was noticed that student factors that contribute to an improvement in academic performance include; regular studying, self-motivation, punctuality and regular class attendance, hard-work and interest in a subject. The teacher factors were completion of syllabus, use of TLM¿s, frequent feedback to students and given students special attention.Per the findings, parent factors which was very key was parent showing concern in their children¿s academics and providing them their academic needs. School factors that were significant included availability of text books and TLM¿s. The study also found that parent level of education and gender has a positive relationship with academic performance but it¿s insignificant. However, age has a positive significant (5% significance level) relationship with academic performance.Based on findings, the study recommends that there should be strict monitoring on teachers to vary their teaching methods to suit their needs of the students and also to provide the students with constant feedback on their academic performance. Again, the students should be motivated and orientated to take ownership of their studies by having regular studies and attending school during school days.
Fallstudie aus dem Jahr 2015 im Fachbereich BWL - Offline-Marketing und Online-Marketing, , Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: The study sought to assess the effect of sales promotion activities on consumer buying behaviour by using Watanmal Group as a case study. The study used both quantitative and qualitative research techniques. In achieving the research objectives both primary and secondary data was used. The primary data was collected through questionnaires. Using a simple random technique 20 employees and 80 customers of Watanmal Group were interviewed. The findings of the study showed that all respondents (100%) are aware of the sales promotion strategy of Watanmal Group. Majority of respondents (48%) are more aware of Buy-one-get-one free promotional strategy and 24% are also aware of free sample promotional strategy. Results from the study showed that, the most effective promotional strategy is the use of Buy-one-get-one free strategy (58%), followed by free sample (22%) and price discounts (15%). Using a 5 point likert scale technique anchored on 1 ¿ Strongly Disagree, 2- Disagree, 3- Uncertain, 4- Agree, and 5- Strongly Agree, the study found that, sales promotion strategy influence consumer behaviour. The study recommend strongly that Watanmal Group should increase their sales promotion strategies in order to increase their sales and market share since it was found that sales promotion influence the purchase pattern of consumers.
Case Study from the year 2016 in the subject Communications - Mass Media, , language: English, abstract: The media play a significant role in the socio-economic and political development of all economies. However, if their operations are not properly and efficiently regulated, it can lead to underdevelopment. Hence, this study focused on the prospects of regulating electronic media activities in Ghana by using the National Media Commission (NMC) as a case study. The mixed research method was used as well as primary and secondary data. The primary data was collected through questionnaires and interview guides. Purposive and simple random sampling techniques was used to select 100 respondents for the study. The findings of the study revealed that there are various existing regulations governing the electronic media in Ghana. It was also found that there are problems and challenges facing the NMC in the discharge of its duties. This has to do with the electronic media ownership, employees and team compositions and the internal weaknesses electronic media houses in ensuring adhering to the NMC regulations. The study recommends that Ghana Parliament should pass a law to empower the NMC to be more biting.
Case Study from the year 2015 in the subject Business economics - Banking, Stock Exchanges, Insurance, Accounting, , language: English, abstract: The main purpose of this study was to examine the determinants of loan default and its effects on financial performance of commercial banks in Ghana by using Fidelity Bank Limited as a case study. The study employed quantitative and qualitative research techniques as the research design. In achieving the research objectives primary and secondary data was used. The primary data was collected through a well structured questionnaire. Simple random technique was used to select 120 loan clients and a purposive sampling was used to select a credit staff. The data was collected from four branches of Fidelity Bank in the Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana. It was realized that the delays in loan approval, poor management, poor credit appraisal and diversion of loans are the main determinants of loan default in Fidelity bank. The study also found that SME clients (49.5%) defaults more than agric, personal and salary loan clients. The major cause of loan default according to the findings of this study was decrease in demand of goods and service (16.1%) sold by the loan clients. Again, it was realized that loan default has a negative impact on profitability. It is recommended that the following measures should be implemented to reduce the rate of loan default; good credit structuring, consistent monitoring, sound credit risk policies and standards, quality analysis, well trained staff, good corporate governance system, independent credit assessment, rescheduling and provision of additional funds.
