A Children's Pyramid Book Filled With Pictures And Facts!Pyramids FactsYou've probably heard about pyramids, but do you know how they were built? Do you know that Giza's pyramids were the only Ancient Seven Wonders of the World to be built by slaves? Or that they were erected on high ground? Here are some Pyramids Facts to make you more curious. Keeping these Pyramids Facts in mind can help you learn more about these enigmatic structures.Ancient Egyptians built the Giza pyramidsThe Egyptians constructed these monumental structures on the slopes of the plateau where they stood. The pyramids are aligned on the southeast corner and began at the same elevation. The Egyptians may have constructed the pyramids using ramps to level the perimeter and the stone from the Mokattam formation quarries were used to build the inner walls. Archaeologists have discovered a 4,600 year-old papyrus scroll that explains the construction of the pyramids. The building of these monuments required skilled workers. The stone used to construct these monuments was quarried locally, with limestone casing imported from Tura. Some rooms were cased with Aswan granite. Some stone blocks bear marks of quarry workers. Part-time crews probably supplemented the year-round skilled workers. It is estimated that at least 100,000 men were employed to construct the pyramids. The construction took twenty years and required more than 2 million stone blocks. They are the only one of the Ancient Seven Wonders of the WorldThe Great Pyramid at Giza is one of the seven ancient wonders of the world. It is one of a group of three pyramids that were constructed by the Egyptians 4,000 years ago. They were constructed to honor the deceased pharaoh Khufu, and their wives, Khafra and Menkaura. The Great Pyramid is one of the largest structures in the world, occupying 13 acres of land. It contains about two million stone blocks weighing two to thirty tons each. The list was first used by the Hellenic travelers who travelled through Egypt and the Persian lands, recording the wonders they found there in their travel journals and artwork. The poet Antipater of Sidon also celebrated these ancient engineering feats with poetry and songs. The list does not include any of the wonders from other parts of the world, including Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas. They were built on high groundEarly builders had to figure out the best way to move stone. One example is the tomb of Djehutihotep in the Twelfth Dynasty, where 172 men pulled a sixty-ton statue onto the top of the pyramid. Another example comes from Denys Stocks' calculation that it would take forty-five men to move a sixteen-ton block of stone. But as archaeologists have demonstrated, this isn't always possible. Instead, Dr. R. H. G. Parry suggested a new method: rolling stones. He also suggested using a cradle-like machine to roll the stones up.The Great Pyramid contains two separate tunnel systems. One corresponds to earlier monuments, while the upper was secreted and hid for much longer. The lower tunnel begins on the north side, with a hidden entrance 56 feet above ground. It then leads to the Subterranean Chamber, where the king's burial chamber was located. It is inaccessible to visitors today, but there is a pit that was dug into its floor.

Neptune is the second largest planet in the solar system, but it is not visible to the naked eye. Astronomers discovered this planet through math. The closest neighbor of Neptune, Uranus, exhibited an orbital pattern that suggested the existence of an eighth planet. In 1846, the presence of this mysterious world was confirmed through a telescope. During the first two years of its existence, scientists were surprised to discover that it is inhabited by living creatures.

Important Communism FactsWhether you're looking for information on communism or want to know more about the theory behind it, there are many important facts to know about this controversial ideology. Learn more about the One-party system, its Ideology, and the influence it has had on civil rights and politics. One-party systemA one-party state is a political system in which the ruling party controls all or most aspects of government. Such a state may be authoritarian or totalitarian, depending on the circumstances. Some one-party states are governed by a single party, such as the Soviet Union. Others are the result of decolonization, where the ruling party gains the power and dominance over its people. And yet, other countries still have a royal family ruling their country.One-party states have several advantages. They can be characterized by their low level of democracy, which may be detrimental for economic growth. Moreover, they can help to suppress the opposition. They can use state power to suppress smaller parties and gerrymander the voting districts. Opposition leaders are usually prohibited from using mass media during election time and harassed or even arrested. The Communist Party of the Soviet Union is the dominant party.IdeologyThe concept of communism is based on equality, regardless of race, class, gender, or economic status. Its founder, Karl Marx, aimed for a society where everyone is treated equally and benefits equally from labor. The concept spread throughout Europe and North America and gained a large following among factory workers. They were frustrated by the exploitation they faced and wanted a better life for themselves and their families. The concept has remained popular for over 100 years. The idea of communism began as early as 1848, when Friedrich Engels and Karl Marx published the Communist Manifesto. The Manifesto sought to abolish capitalism and the social class system, and promote education for all citizens. Socialism would also promote social benefits such as free health care, free education, and child care. In addition to these basic concepts, communism would promote the development of a proletariat, or working class, society.SymbolsAmong the many Communist symbols is the hammer and sickle. The hammer and sickle represents workers and the peasantry, and the sickle symbolizes the union between the two. Both are symbols of peace and equality, and the sickle is often a symbol of the Communist Party. Other symbols of communism include the red star and the hammer and sickle. Symbols of communism are often made of the same material, such as metal, such as iron, which is used to symbolically resembling a red star.Throughout history, communist symbols have served as both a set and a subject. These categories include individual Communist symbols as well as articles that discuss the various symbols associated with Communist countries. Some of these categories may eventually merge into one supercategory. Until then, however, they are both worth investigating. We have a list of some of the more iconic symbols of communism, below. It is important to keep in mind that these symbols represent a certain style of government.

Facts About North AmericaDo you know about the continent of North America? Learn about the continent's rich natural resources, its diverse population, and its long coastline. You can also discover the continent's namesake: Amerigo Vespucci named it. North America is the third largest continent in the world and covers 9.5 million square miles of land. It is home to the world's largest island, the Bahamas. Facts about North America are fun and interesting to learn. It has a long coastlineAlthough North America has a long coastline, it is not as flat as the Atlantic Ocean. The coastline of North America is 37,000 miles long, second only to Asia's. This coastline is marked by numerous indentations. These are most noticeable in the northern half. As such, its oceans are often referred to as 'fjords'. However, there are many other reasons why this coastline is so unique.Although the United States' coastline is long, it has many contours and unique geographic features that make it difficult to measure. It is therefore difficult to determine the exact length of the coastline, but technology has made it possible to measure the shoreline of each state and territory. For example, the United States has a long coastline that extends beyond the continental United States, including territory in the Caribbean and Puerto Rico. Moreover, the coastline in North America is very varied, with states that include islands and wetlands as well.It has a river systemNorth America has an extensive river system. The great Mackenzie River system in western Canada drains much of the northern interior of the continent. Several rivers drain Hudson Bay. Other major rivers in North America flow west of the Continental Divide, including the Hudson, Mississippi, Missouri, and the Columbia. All of these rivers are important to the continent's economy, and they can be found in almost every corner of the country. While the eastern half of North America is dotted with many small lakes, Canada is home to a multitude of larger ones. While humans have been drawn to rivers in North America for more than 12,000 years, most rivers have been radically changed over time by industrialization. They have been dammed for hydropower, dewatered for human consumption, and polluted with waste products. As a result, river biodiversity has been dramatically compromised and ecosystems have become less diverse.

Mountain lions are nocturnal animals. They live in mountains and forests. They feed on large mammals such as deer, and they can reach up to ten thousand feet in elevation. Unlike other cats, however, mountain lions seem to be particularly attracted to kids. While they may not be particularly dangerous, they do seem to perceive children as easy prey. Small children can make a great threat to mountain lions, so they will usually try to run away from them. That said, running away from a mountain wolf or cat could trigger a lion's instinct to chase after them.
