Vanessa wants to be a contestant in a reality show on "All Souls Day" the next year. The contest began that All Souls Day that year. A series of newspaper articles detailing the history of the haunted dance hall, the bridge and lake appeared in their town's newspaper. So many people visited the most haunted places at the village, just to get material for their stories. The show would take place at the dance hall, bridge and the lake, where the devil had appeared at the dance hall, dancing the cha, cha, with Vanessa's great-grandfather Tomás's girl-friend, Louisa. Louisa and the man dressed in black, danced in the middle of the dance floor, back in the 1940's. Louisa probably felt at that moment that she was the happiest girl in the world. She was envied by every woman at the dance hall, shaking her hips every which way, as many people whistled and applauded the handsome couple dancing so sexy. She was the center of attention and she knew it as Louisa noticed Tomás was watching her dancing from across the dance floor. She knew she was making him jealous. The devil had also appeared at the bridge one stormy night, and had asked Vanessa's great-grandfather for a cigarette and a match, while the smell of sulfur penetrated the area. Vanessa asked Alex, a friend from high school, to join her on her guest to get some authenticity facts to write her story for the reality show. She and Alex go to the bridge one dark night. They come across an evil black cat, which has too many lives left. It kept appearing to them on the bridge, but she believed that story was not good enough for the reality show, which she desperately wanted to be a part of. Then she thought, if I can't come across any ghosts, I will visit Bisabuela Carmelita. Her great- grandmother, enjoyed telling Vanessa appalling stories about her life with great-grandpa, since he had had encounters with the devil in his life time. Bisabuelo was considered of being a conniving, evil, selfish man. He wanted money and power. He got what he wanted so bad in life, but paid a heavy price for it. The only way he could have achieved those things, he had to be involved in some evil magic. Bisabuela knew that her husband was involved in black magic. She didn't want any part in that. Vanessa had a feeling that her great-grandmother was hiding a secret from her that Bisabuela could only tell her through her horrifying stories. On All Souls Day, Bisabuela invited Vanessa to come over for breakfast. Vanessa wondered what secret could Bisabuelo have to share with her, since Vanessa was the only person that Bisabuela trusted. Vanessa was nervous that morning as she came down the hill on her horse to Bisabuela's hacienda, which was at the base of the tall hill. Vanessa walked inside Bisabuel's bedroom, where a small table for four had breakfast ready for her and Bisabuela. Bisabuela asked Vanessa to wheel her wheelchair to the window facing the big yard with hundreds of trees. Vanessa sat in Bisabuela's rocking chair, while Bisabuela sat in her wheelchair. She began her story. Bisabuela tells Vanessa the final story before she dies. She reveals where Bisabuelo had buried the hired hands, after he had robbed them of their wealth, during a fiesta inside the stable. Vanessa almost had a break down after Bisabuela's death, that she had to take medication, causing her to have horrible dreams just like the dreams Bisabuela had that no one believed her horrific stories were true. Bisabuelo's reckoning came after the hired hands get their revenge after the ghostly souls return on All Souls Day to get even with Bisabuelo's corpse inside the casket.
