Increasingly after the war, H.D. sought new forms of writing to express her persistent interests in the politics of gender and in issues of nationhood and home. As civilian war poetry (written under the shattering impact of World War II), Trilogys three long poems rank with T. S. Eliots Four Quartets and Ezra Pounds Pisan Cantos.
