Bøger af John Galt

Largely self-taught, the American artist Benjamin West (1738-1820) became a history painter for George III and a founder and president of the Royal Academy of Arts. This reissue brings together the two volumes of John Galt's biography of West, first published in 1816 and 1820.

Galt's two great political novels date from around the passing of the Reform Act of 1832. The Member has claims to be the first political novel in the English language and is a tour de force of wit, observation, and a devastating critique of political self-seekings.
