Led by General William Tate, soldiers are exterminating the zombies by the hundreds. But they have seriously underestimated these walking dead, and failed to heed warnings made by the evolved ones, -known among their kind as The Ascended Ones- who wish to live out their existence in peace. The real battle for human survival begins when The Ascended Ones decide that peace with the living may have never been an option to begin with. And they, along with the legions of lesser, mindless undead under their control, set out to remove the last threat to their existence.
Book One follows groups of survivors trying to make it in the new world against increasingly overwhelming odds. But things are changing. The zombies are evolving, becoming smarter, and regaining their former sentience. Humans, just barely managing to scrape by as it is - struggling to hold on to hope where there may no longer be any - will soon have to face a more horrifying and disheartening realization. This world belongs to the dead now. And there may soon be no place for the last remnants of the human race in the sprawling graveyard that the earth has become.
Five people suddenly find themselves mysteriously stranded in an abandoned shopping mall which only moments before was packed with people. With a massive storm raging outside that is pulling the very fabric of reality further apart by the second, and a psycho mall cop trying to kill them off one by one. Will they be able to figure out what's happening and escape certain death? At the same time, a young man, hitching a ride into town on a school bus, finds himself in what appears to be a post apocalypse world, after mushroom clouds appear on the horizon, and then vanish before the blast wave hits. Meanwhile, mortal now and plagued by visions of millions of worlds ending, mass death, and multitudes of survivors being led to him; Marcus is presented with an option to ascend for real this time, and leave behind all which he knows or remain alone in a world hurtling towards certain destruction. Will he disappear forever along with all that he knows and loves, or possibly save some of it, but leave it all behind forever, regardless?
In a desperate bid to save his sister's life, Marcus becomes trapped in the underworld, forced to watch helplessly through the eyes of a shape-shifting demon as it begins to systematically destroy all which he holds dear just to torment him. With time running out, the promise of possible escape looms on the horizon, but how far will he go to free himself and save those he cares about? How far would you go? And would the price be more than you could bear?

In Sackets Harbor, New York, on a beautiful summer day, all hell is about to break loose. Men and women from other worlds similar to this one have passed through a portal outside of the earth's atmosphere and are hurtling toward the surface. These have been gathered by fallen angels to topple a corrupt false god and though that is no longer their goal it may yet need to happen. This world may be all that is left of what was once a number beyond the mathematical capabilities of the average human mind. And it will soon be gone unless Marcus and a handful of powerful beings, with an army of gathered souls can manage to save it. An amnesiac former arch-angel of death in human form, a shape-shifter, Rose, Marcus and some others will have to sacrifice nearly everything to survive. But will they work together or fall to the darkness that is closing in on this world? And when all is said and done, will they have been the harbingers of light and life, or of death and eternal darkness?
