The millionaires brother believes he is being coerced because the new wife and butler won't let anyone in to see him, not even his own family. In this the 33rd book in the Neptune King series, Neptune and Shark bust an art theft ring, and in the process, Neptune is injured, breaking his arm and leg and becoming home-bound, much to his dismay, while Shark is left to run the office. Rachel makes the most of Neptune's incapacity to return to work full-time so she can help Shark out on cases. In their second case, The Cheating Stockbroker, Shark decides to take on a cheating husband case, which turns out to be something far more interesting than mere infidelity. In The Angry Chef, they track down a thief who stole the signature recipe from their client's restaurant. What starts of as a case of simple theft soon turns to murder. In the third case, The Visiting Corpse, the client insists on Neptune's involvement, not believing Shark when he tells him Neptune is not available. Despite this Neptune is glad of his bumptiousness when they intrude on him at home. The aspects of the case interest him. Who would dig a rotting corpse up, put it in a wheelchair and park it by a patient's bed in a rehabilitation hospital? Neptune is keen to get involved despite his disability, only he has to do it on the sly because he doesn't want Rachel to know. The Missing Corpse is a continuation of their previous case. Having solved why the corpse was dug up and proven it wasn't who it was supposed to be, leads to a second more involved case. Where is the body of Ronin Carpenter and why was it substituted? The Supernatural Cases of Neptune King is the 29th book in the series. In The Haunted House, the detectives are hired to investigate a unique house belonging to an actor who killed himself, to prove whether it is or isn't haunted. The actor lost his house to the bank and vowed that if he couldn't have it, no one else would either before killing himself. They take along their psychic ex-client Keeley Simmonds on their first visit to the house, but none of them stay long enough to make much of an investigation being overcome with sheer terror. Keeley is convinced there is a malevolent presence there. No one, not even paranormal experts have been able to stay more than ten minutes in the house and no one ever dares to return. The only difference is Neptune and Shark plan on going back. In their second case, The Ghostly Client, they are hired by a ghost who materializes in Neptune's office asking for help. Neptune is delighted, while Shark is a little put out. After all, this client can't pay them for their services. Neptune deduces that the man was recently murdered and that his body hasn't as yet been found.The Man from Nowhere is another case that tickles Neptune's fancy. Once again, Holmes is called upon to prevent a cloned Moriarty from wreaking havoc and to retrieve the piggyback device. This time he has the able assistance of his son and Watson's daughter as well as Watson.Book Three: Mycrofts Galore. The remaining three Mycroft clones in stasis are struck by lightning, they are activated and emerge from their chambers. When these clones learn they are to be terminated they steal the piggyback device and flee the century. Sherlock Junior discovers that their cells are in a state of flux, which affects their characters. It is up to them to track them down and either return them or terminate them, especially as one of the clones is kill crazy and has already killed Myron. Once again they return to the past and enlist Holmes and Watson's help in tracking them down, and this time even the original Mycroft gets involved with disastrous consequences.

Neptune King and the Artifact is the 28th book in this detective series. When Neptune's sister, Mermaid Griffith buys him a gift while on holiday in Italy, she has no idea at the time what trouble it will cause. First, her hotel room is broken into twice and her belongings ransacked, then to her dismay, she is no sooner home than her house is also broken into. The Griffiths stay at his house overnight to stop Mermaid spending all night cleaning up the burglar's mess, but they're woken during the night to an intruder in Neptune's house who manages to get away. Neptune's interest is captured instantly and volunteers his and Shark's services. This is the 10th book in the Neptune King series. In The Case of the Amnesiac Client Neptune's maid introduces him to Mary North a troubled young woman working as a maid with no memory and a vague impression that everything is not quite right. He figures it's a case for K&J. Intrigue, deception and imposters lead them to France and back again to high society in search for her real identity. In The Case of the French Blackmailer, Shark's sins come back to haunt him when Monique, the French waitress he met while on the trail of the Shadow in France turns up with a baby, claiming it is his and threatening to tell Lord Evans unless he pays. Shark is shocked and desperate and turns to Neptune for help, while hoping to keep the whole sordid affair secret from Rachel and Becky, but he underestimates the women in his life. In The Case of the Deadly Sleepwalker Lisa Hatherly is arrested for murdering her neighbour in her sleep! Philip Briton, Neptune's solicitor hires the boys to investigate. The evidence looks black against her-her footprints in the snow to and from the dead woman's house, the dead woman's jewels hidden in her wardrobe and her own admission that she'd had an argument with the deceased and was sleep walking that night with her soaked slippers matching the prints. Neptune's boutique is being robbed in The Case of the Shoplifting Shop Assistant, and it doesn't take him long to find the culprit. Neptune King and The Arsonist is the 26th book in the series. Neptune and Shark are as brilliant as always but is this the case that will ruin their hundred per cent success rate? Neptune begins to fear that when they're hired by Mrs O'Shea to catch the person who killed her husband by setting fire to their house. In the course of the investigation they solve three other crimes and let the police take the credit. They're down to one suspect and to Neptune's dismay he proves that this man is guilty of vandalism not arson. Meantime their arsonist is escalating. What started with simple nuisance fires and hedge fires graduated to a house fire with an incidental death, to the burning of a warehouses and the destruction of a priceless ancient Chinese Emperor's shoulder carriage. When the arsonist steals a flame thrower and begins burning and torturing animals, Neptune is afraid he will escalate and move onto human targets. The stakes are high. This is one time both he and Shark come close to failure, at a time when it is imperative that they succeed.

Collaborating with Sergeant Wolf of Scotland Yard they start to see similarities between Wolf's suicide investigation and theirs. In both cases there is an unknown mysterious woman involved. Neptune suspects she is behind the deaths. Determining her identity and locating her is relatively simple for the private detectives, proving her guilt though presents a quandary. They know she's guilty, they just can't prove it and when potential witnesses start dying, they realize she is cleaning up after herself and destroying her back trail so rapidly that she's always one step ahead. Can they stop her before more men die? They'll do their damnedest.

Deathbringer is the first book in the contemporary Andromeda Fox mystery series by author Magda Jozsa. Andromeda (Andy) is the son of wealthy real estate tycoon Chalmers Fox. He lives in a luxury apartment in St Kilda with Mathilda (Tildy) Harris, ostensibly employed as his bodyguard (Thanks to his sister having been abducted and killed some ten years earlier). He's a carefree irresponsible idler living on a generous allowance from his parents and indulging in his passion for art. Then, when his father is targeted by a killer known only as Deathbringer, he and Mathilda set out to find Deathbringer's identity and protect Fox Senior. As his father isn't confiding in his family, Andy astonishes him by coming to work for him as way of keeping tabs on him and providing an opportunity to search his office for information. They learn that Deathbringer has a pay or die policy with direct threats made against the Fox family. During the course of their investigation they notice that at every money drop there is an elderly couple, nuns and schoolchildren, with the oldies at the top of the list due to their suspicious behaviour. Seeming to fail at every point, they soon realize they are getting close when an attempt is made on Tildy's life. It is a mad dash at the end when Mathilda finally figures it all out, leading to a desperate dash across Melbourne to save the lives of Andy's parents. Throughout it all, Andy & Mathilda start to see each other in a different light and Andy surprises everyone by becoming a responsible mature adult much to the delight of his father.

In this the 9th book in the series, Neptune is delighted when Shark calls and tells him he is returning to England. While awaiting his return, Neptune tackles a missing person case with Rachel as his able assistant and uncovers a murder instead. In The Case of the Panicking Princess, Princess Helena of Slovenka is being blackmailed and needs to retrieve a letter before her engagement party to Lord Cumberland. The letter's trail leads them on a fair chase culminating in unlikely culprits. In The Case of the Baby Snatchers, the boys become persona non grata at Scotland Yard when Commissioner Chadworth suffers a heart attack and is replaced by stiff necked, unfriendly Commisioner Talbot. Initially willing to work with the police, they decide to hell with them and go it alone. This is one case where they don't plan on sharing the credit with the police, especially when the case takes on international proportions.

The Exploits of Neptune King is the fifth book in the series. In their first case our heroes tackle the supernatural, being hired to catch a vampire in Cornwall. In the isolated village of Abernathy, five young women are dead, their blood completely drained and puncture marks in their necks, and if that wasn't enough the locals are being scared by the spectre of a man that transforms himself into a bat. This is the sort of case that Neptune delights in. While Neptune is off sick, Rachel begs Shark to give her time off so she can nurse him back to health. Against his better judgment she convinces Shark to give her new friend Rebecca Evans a chance, leading to some volatile scenes thanks to her bad habit of conclusion jumping. Naturally she falls for him, and Shark finds he is irritated and attracted at the same time, but what could they possibly have in common? She, the daughter of an earl and distantly related to the Queen, and he the son of a drunken motor mechanic. Shark figures it's a relationship doomed from the start.They continue to go from strength to strength cementing their reputation as detectives when the tackle a case multiple murder where residents in a nursing home are being killed for their savings. Rachel goes undercover again as a nursing assistant, and breaks the case wide open, putting herself at risk

Little nine-year-old Carole Beaumont goes missing in Bournemouth and disappears without a trace. Her parents come to K&J Investigations to hire them to find her. Shark thinks it will prove a hopeless case but Neptune is more optimistic. After reading Detective Inspector Olsen's account of the investigation immediately following her disappearance Neptune notes a few points of interest and he and Shark run with them. It also occurs to Neptune that the perpetrator handled the abduction professionally and deduces that young Carole wasn't his first. With painstaking research he and his wife Rachel discover that over the past ten years one hundred and forty-two children had gone missing under similar circumstances. They plot their disappearances out on a map and are awed to see a pattern emerge. Neptune is still slightly incapacitated after having broken his arm and leg a few months before, so Shark does most of the running around, while Neptune continues his investigation from the office. With a fair bit of hard work they narrow in on the perpetrator and learn he owns a farm in the country. They go there and with Fang's (Shark's dog) help make a grisly discovery of several small bodies buried in shallow graves. They call in the police to take over and more and more bodies are uncovered. They think their work is over as they also give the police the name of the man responsible for this wholesale slaughter. Only they hadn't counted on DI Olsen's stupidity. The culprit gets away and so they are back to the drawing board trying to locate the killer who has become the most hated man in England. Will they triumph? Read on and find out.

Mathilda and Andy have finally paired up as a couple. Andy wants to treat Mathilda on her birthday and takes her to the snow for a long weekend, hoping that they will cement their relationship with a physical commitment. To Andy's delight Tildy is willing and just as he is about to make history they are interrupted by a phone call. Tildy's friend Jenny has become a victim of the serial rapist targeting young policewomen. She's seriously injured and close to death. Tildy is the closest thing to family that Jenny has so naturally she puts a stop to their lovemaking and returns home immediately to be with Jenny. When Jenny is finally released from hospital she moves in with them as she's traumatized and afraid to be on her own. Andy is fairly tolerant at the start, but Jenny is something of a nuisance houseguest, intruding upon him when he's trying to paint in his studio. Tildy's back at work by this time, so it's poor Andy that has to cope with her volatile mood swings and emotional upsets. Add to that that Jenny is seriously cramping his style and he has no privacy with Mathilda, he's in for a miserable and frustrating time. Mathilda seeing how upset he is suggests they have a go at catching the rapist themselves, and he's all for it. Anything to get Jenny out of the house. It's no bed of roses for Tildy either as she had a taste of what Andy could offer at the snow and is feeling as frustrated as he. With a lot of coaxing she manages to get Jenny to talk about her attack and they pick up some new clues that she'd blocked from her memory after the attack. Part of their plan to get Jenny back to work is to enlist the help of her superior, Senior Sergeant Norman Oldfield, whom Jenny has long had a crush on. It works, and he convinces her to come back to work. With Jenny having access to police records again, they're back in business and start investigating possible suspects. Much to Andy's delight, Jenny moves out to become a housemate of poor unsuspecting Sergeant Oldfield and he and Tildy finally get some time alone together. It all comes to a head when the rapist turned killer (one of his victims died) targets Jenny again as she is the only person that can identify him. This time he has to contend with not only a prepared Jenny but Mathilda as well. He doesn't stand a chance against two tough ladies.

This is the 39th book in the Neptune King series and once again the detectives breeze through their cases with ease. In One Threat Too Many they encounter a blast from the past when the victim turns out to be none other than a grownup Holly Dolling whom they encountered six years previously when they were undercover in a private girl's school. As a fifteen-year old, Holly had tried blackmailing Neptune and they suspected that this was the cause of her murder now. In A Guilty Conscience they're hired by a new widow, Mrs Gibson whose husband was murdered on the weekend. The last to see him alive were his three friends with whom he'd been playing cards. The friends believe he committed suicide, but the wife disagrees with this as he had too much to live for. They were expecting their first child. He had no known enemies and was well liked. Neptune however suspects that the motive for the murder is something from his past. They find evidence to support that theory when they search his home office and set about solving the eleven year old murder of a publican's daughter in an attempt to link it to the current one. In Two Sides to the Story, their client is again a grieving widow. Her husband was a generous, friendly well-liked storekeeper who was murdered in his shop. At least that's what the wife thought. On talking to her they learn that her husband, Ernest was mourning his brother who had been murdered some eight months earlier. The fact that both Brumby brothers had been murdered is a red flag to our intrepid detectives, so they set about solving both murders only to learn that not all is as it seems. It disheartens Neptune somewhat when he realizes that the one thing all these cases have in common is that the victims deserved what they got.

This is the 15th book in the series with three new and challenging cases for the detectives to solve. In The Case of the Crooked Politician, Shark's father-in-law comes to him with a concern that one of his colleagues - the minister for Immigration is extorting money from desperate migrants. The investigation turns out to be a family affair as Shark enlists the aid of his mother, who is still waiting to find out about her own citizenship applications, to help trap the dishonest politician. Once again his little sister Suzy gets involved and shows her courage, mettle and natural aptitude for detective work. In The Case of the Oxford Terror, Neptune is once again back at Oxford University as a teacher, and Shark goes undercover as a student. This time Neptune is more than a match for the crotchety old professors who made his life hell when he was there before, and is more comfortable teaching. Two professors have been attacked, the art teacher humiliated and the rowing team coach viciously assaulted. They hope that by blending in they'll be able to catch the culprit, but not before he strikes again and a student is murdered. In The Case of the Uncertain Killer, young Aysha Daniels comes to them terrified that her father is a murderer as every man she has ever gone out with has ended up dead. The father's behaviour is certainly suspicious, but what their investigation turns up surprises even them.

In this the 19th book of the series, we once again see Neptune and Shark at their sleuthing best. In The Cataleptic Client, they are hired by Ben Korr to find out why his daughter has suddenly become cataleptic. The doctors have found no cause and he is desperate. In trying to find the cause of her catalepsy they discover that his son Jason was murdered and that both his new wife and gardener are suspect. Was the murder the cause of little Mariah's catalepsy or was it something else altogether? In The Mysterious Assailant, Neptune and Shark are framed for assault. The evidence looks black against them and conviction looks likely as, despite hunting through their files for a likely candidate, the fail to turn up anyone that has it in for them. Someone clearly has a grudge against them, but it doesn't seem to be anyone they know. In the Secret Enemy, the mysterious assailant strikes again, this time at Rachel, Becky and their children, almost killing them. Neptune and Shark are still no closer to discovering who their mysterious enemy is until Rachel is abducted. Then the clues come in thick and fast and a desperate hunt is on to find and rescue Rachel before she's murdered.

Neptune King and the Mysterious Monk is the 27th book in the series. They're hired by Friar Luigi, a Capuchin monk from a monastery in Devon. Ever since a collection of rare books, diaries and manuscripts arrived at the monastery there has been strange goings on in the night. Each morning they find the library in disarray; the books scattered about or misplaced and sometimes strange noises in the night. When they go to investigate they find nothing and no one. This is puzzling enough, causing some of the monks to believe there is a poltergeist in their midst, but when elderly Friar Matteo is found dead at the foot of the stairs, his skull stove in, Friar Luigi suspects foul play.He travels to London to enlist Neptune and Shark's aid, which they are more than happy to offer free of charge. Neptune is ecstatic at this opportunity to disguise himself as a monk and go under cover in the monastery as Friar Benedict, while Shark backs him as a carpenter doing necessary repairs to the ancient monastery. He brings his dog Fang along with him, who turns out to be a great hit with the monks and useful too as they put him in the library overnight. They have a couple of suspects-two of the newly arrived monks and when one of them presents the next morning with a torn robe and Fang has a piece of a robe in his mouth, that monk goes to the top of the list, although Neptune has doubts as to his guilt. When an attempt is made on Luigi's life, they double their attempt to find the culprit in no doubt at all that Friar Matteo's death was murder. A new suspect emerges after they prove he lied and Shark telephones Neptune's wife, Rachel to get her to undertake a background check on him. That's held up when Rachel collapses and is found unconscious in her office by Milo, one of their employees. As always, with the help of John and Daniel, they get there in the end, but not before two policemen lose their lives to the killer.

Natural Progression is reminiscent of Dostoyevsky's Crime and Punishment as it describes one man's descent into ever escalating crime and violence. Gordon Bellmore is a happy go lucky man celebrating his 21st birthday with his friends. Despite having had a few drinks he decides to drive home. It's dark, it's raining and he doesn't see his elderly confused neighbour, Mrs Wainwright, wander out onto the road. It is an accident sure enough but he panics and decides to move the body and it is this decision that changes his life.When he helps to move his friend Bluey, the elderly woman from across the road comes over and questions Gordon. He seems familiar to her. Once again he panics, because it was in front of her house that he'd dumped Mrs Wainwright. When they finally reach Phoenix, Arizona, they learn that Keehoe is dead - tortured and murdered by thieves looking for the map to his gold mine. Hilda of course is devastated at the thought of losing the money, while Holmes and Watson are more concerned about apprehending Keehoe's killers. Holmes finds the map cleverly concealed by Keehoe and decides the only way to catch the killers is to draw them out with the lure of gold, so undertakes to find the mine. Hilda insists on coming along, despite them trying to dissuade her. It's the journey from hell for the two Englishmen until in a stopover at a small town, Watson rescues a half breed Indian boy from being maltreated by a brutal blacksmith. In the fight that follows, the blacksmith is killed. Hilda hires the destitute widow to be her personal maid on the journey. While Holmes is not happy at the thought of another female travelling companion, Watson convinces him that with Emma Hancock on hand, they won't have to deal with Hilda and her tantrums. That's enough to change his mind. Spotted Deer tags along in the hope he can save Watson's life in return for saving his. Like the first book there's a lot of humour, action, and adventure, and there is definitely no romance for Holmes in this one. Hilda would turn any man into a bachelor! Even fans of traditional Holmes stories will like this one. Holmes is at his best and worst.

Just as the happy couple are pledging their vows, Thiel bursts in and starts shooting turning the ceremony into chaos. Despite the violent interruption, Neptune eventually manages to get his ring on Rachel's finger on the most memorable day of their lives.

The Bizarre Cases of Neptune King is the 13th book in the series and in this they most definitely encounter the outré. Still banned from Scotland Yard by Commissioner Talbot, Shark undertakes an investigation into a missing man, only to learn that he has become a victim of a murderer that the newspapers are calling The Camden Cannibal because he eats his victims, only disposing of the head, hands, and the remnants of his cooking. Neptune is itching to tackle this case and his chance comes when the editor of The Times hires them to investigate independently of the police. This they do with their usual thoroughness and are close on the trail of the cannibal when Talbot issues the cannibal a challenge to eat him! It's too good an opportunity for the cannibal and he abducts the commissioner. Shark and Neptune come to the rescue, but almost become the Sunday dinner in the process.In The Case of the Lovesick Necrophile, they are called upon to investigate why a recently young deceased woman keeps getting violated at the funeral parlour. It all comes to a head when Marjorie's body is stolen from her grave. With the Necrophiliac located and on the run, the chase is on to catch him. Unfortunately for Becky, he's seen her and is smitten by her and decides if he can't have Marjorie he'll get himself a new body. She's no good to him alive. Can Neptune and Shark stop him before he can fulfil his sick and twisted fantasies? Start reading and find out.
