The present book, 'The Wonder Climbers,' explores the isolation of medicinally active ingredients from two plant species, Glycyrrhiza glabra and Tinospora cordifolia, aiming to study their useful phytochemical constituents. The research involves in vitro culture, isolation, identification, and quantification of primary metabolites such as carbohydrates, starch, proteins, lipids, phenols, chlorophyll, and carotenoids, along with secondary metabolites such as steroidal sapogenin and rotenoids. Various chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques are employed for this purpose. Furthermore, the book discusses the biological activity of the isolated compounds, including antibacterial, antifungal, and antioxidant properties. The antimicrobial activity is validated through established protocols for antibacterial and antifungal bioassays, while antioxidant activity is assessed using recognized methods. This comprehensive study sheds light on the pharmacologically valuable constituents of the selected plant species.
The present book" The Wonder Weeds" is a brief knowledge of all the experiments and investigations performed in our primary research on these plants by performing high quality experiments and investigations we conclude that the two plants studied in the present study Eichhornia crassipes(solms).Mart and Pistia stratiotes L. have good amount of phytochemicals responsible for imparting antimicrobial and antioxidant properties and shows good inhibitory activity against pathogenic bacteria and fungi tested, thus forms a platform for the use of these plants as bioactive compounds. Bioassays to identify as single molecules from plants that have interesting bioactivities will be useful as lead compounds for the development of pharmaceutical drugs as antibiotics against certain infections caused by these bacteria and fungi with enhanced activity and reduced toxicity.
