Culinary IntuitionCreative thought permeates the very existence of artists and is reflected in everything they do. Long before I was an internationally known artist, keen observers noticed my creativity flowed from a young age in the way I dressed, did my hair, wrote, arranged/decorated my bedroom, and even into the family kitchen when I was allowed to help. I've been teaching and writing professionally for decades, and have been cooking since way before that! Cooking evolved into an intuitive artistic expression of love along the way, and I hope it will for you too. My siblings were subject to my experiments like meatloaf with peeled, hard-boiled eggs in the middle, a successful surprise-inside meal, and banana bread with a peeled banana in the middle, as the raw banana broke down into brown slime in the oven and ruined the banana bread. My family confabulates those two experiments into one food, referring with a chuckle to "...the time Monica put a banana in the middle of the meat loaf!" That never happened! But their memory encapsulates the spirit of how artists like me confront food preparation. I take risks, I fail, but I never stop trying new things. That would be like never creating a painting ever again. Over time I joined some food groups, and continued to post epicurean creations, most made without any fancy appliances or gadgets. Comments, likes, and responses were always plentiful and encouraging. It echoed comments I'd heard for over forty years in person, in real life, from those who I have prepared food. Without a doubt, of all the products, ideas, and concepts I have promoted on social media over the years, it is my food pictures that get the most attention. In time, I had hundreds of food photos in an album on my computer labeled "Culinary Intuition." So it occurred to me, it's finally time to write "the cookbook" that everyone's been encouraging me to write. But why start with just one cookbook? A series of cookbooks answers the question with a resounding ONE COOK BOOK IS NOT ENOUGH! A growing list of editions containing recipes for every day foods that can be prepared quickly and easily. Several editions are devoted to one singular dietary trend or way of eating, such as vegetarian, low carb, high protein, clean cooking, whole foods, and once in a while even a little junk food.
I Am Woody. Come inside the mind, thoughts, and feelings of a dog with a wise old soul, very focused on helping and healing the humans in my life. Follow me through several homes where you will meet families and friends I have lived with, loved, prayed for, taught and learned from. Laugh, cry and love with me on my journey from Georgia to the Northeast to find Madolyn and help heal her breaking heart. Through my relationship and travels with her, I also touch the hearts and souls of her friends, while my own heart literally breaks and bleeds. But I'm comforted with the assurance I'm where I'm supposed to be, doing what I'm supposed to do, and that with my Madolyn, love always flows freely in both directions. Some say dogs come back as humans in their next life, and some people say all dogs go to Heaven, and both are partially correct. We sometimes go to Heaven, and we sometimes come back, but not as humans! We begin life with a love of humans already in us and and because love should always be a two way street, our baby canine noses can always smell whether people have the scent of the love of dogs on them or not. It's important that our owners love us as much as we love them, and when they do, we make our way back in the body of a new puppy so we can keep loving and healing people who need us. Did you every wonder why every little puppy is irresistibly, cute, sweet, and innocent when they come into the world? It's because puppies contain the souls of dogs who know how to love and be loved without any fear. That's why puppies are never mean. When my former owner, Old Maxwell, the kindest, sweetest, old gentleman the south had ever known, got sick and knew he was dying, he told me about Madolyn. Well, he didn't know her by name, he just said there was a lady out there somewhere I had to find. He said she needs me now, and I set out to find her as soon as I could. When his brother placed me in a kill shelter after Maxwell's death, I was confident it wasn't going to be the end for me. However, when I was adopted into the Hartford family I knew a terrible mistake was made but I still tried to be a good dog, and always do the right thing in their New York City penthouse apartment. While I'm there, you'll meet old Lucy, the blind dog I was to be a companion to, little Sam who needs and welcomes my companionship much more than the old dog, and Peter the dog walker with turquoise hair who doesn't have the scent of the love of dogs on him. The "scent of the love of dogs" is a common theme, and is possessed by many of the humans you will meet in my story.
Culinary Intuition: An Artist's Approach to Preparing, Presenting, and Economizing, Everyday, Familiar FoodsCreative thought permeates the very existence of artists and is reflected in everything they do. Long before I was an internationally known artist, keen observers noticed my creativity flowed from a young age into the way I dressed, did my hair, wrote, arranged/decorated my bedroom, and even into the family kitchen when I was allowed to help. I've been teaching and writing professionally for decades, and have been cooking since way before that! Cooking evolved into an intuitive artistic expression of love along the way, and I hope it will for you too. Kid love making things, and if you have the patience to let them help you in he kitchen you will enjoy many fun memories with them! Minimalism and economy of resources, are prominent themes in Culinary Intuition. Most recipes in the series recipes lean toward economy of ingredients, time, and appliances. This means many recipes can be completed in less than thirty minutes, with almost no need need for special kitchen gadgets, and there are no obscure or expensive ingredients. Everything you need can be found in a typical grocery store. It should not cost a lot of money or time to prepare or clean-up meals made at home, and the fewer electric appliances, translates to less cleanup time. And our minimalist, economic approach means even the first editions of our cookbooks are offered at about the price of one fancy coffee!
