Mason Paladin was an avid fan of the outdoors, preferring weeks on end camping and living off the land, all of it in utter isolation. If he had it his way an apocalypse would make his erstwhile efforts to prepare for such a world be fruitful and prophetic. One day he would awaken on an alien world, alone and with no hope of salvation. While fully prepared for such a calamity, or so he thought, the dangers on this world could prove both hostile and unexpected. Mason Paladin would get exactly what he had wished for...and then some.
The Earth had grown nearly uninhabitable in the year 2184 and scientists had scoured the heavens for planets to relocate to. While the light speed conundrum had yet to be achieved or surpassed, Earth's scientists had discovered a method to bridge the distance to reach other worlds. Micah Dixon was among the crew of the ship bound for TOI 700 d, a voyage that would take 3 years to complete. When he awoke from his cryo-sleep, what he saw could not exist. He alone survived the crash and the utter isolation of being the only human being on an alien world would challenge him to his very soul.
