Zimbabwean schools are grappling with indiscipline among secondary school goers coupled with low and fluctuating pass rates at secondary school level from year 2000 to date. Academic performance at Tafara high school has been fluctuating over a period of ten years, with the lowest recorded in 2004 and 2008. Another disturbing concern from the school authorities is a marked increase in deviant behaviour among the school children. Abnormal behaviour was profiled as militating against the realisation of educational goals in the area. The writer set out to investigate the effect of deviance on academic results among Tafara high school pupils in Bikita district in rural Zimbabwe.
