Goldilocks, White Bear and Thomas are three characters on a quest to obtain a real mouth for White Bear who, without a real mouth, can only communicate by gestures or facial expressions. Once they reach the Dark Forest and meet Ozimund, they find out what they must do to complete the quest. By returning each of the items to the environment in which they found or received it, the quest ends with White Bear getting his real mouth.

The letters she receives from South Africa show the conditions in the camps are deteriorating faster than Emily had imagined. Emily decides to go to the camps. She travels to Cape Town and finds that getting to the camps is extremely difficult. Emily finally arrives at Bloemfontein camp. There she meets and befriends Sara Harschoon and her children. Meeting increasing resistance to her efforts, Emily returns to England with a first-hand view of conditions in the camps.

Sweet Drop in Africa: Hope takes Emily Hobhouse from England to America, Mexico and back to England. She reforms the town of Virginia, Minnesota falling in love with Mayor John Jackson. Jackson convinces Emily that ranching in Mexico will make their fortune. Waiting in Mexico for John Jackson to arrive and propose marriage Emily finds out that she built her hopes on the same sinking ground that Mexico City sits on. When he does arrive Jackson has eyes for the Mexican ladies, which destroys any thought of marriage. Emily returns to England to find that the Empire she loves has become cruel in its colonial war with the Boers in South Africa.

Arthur lost his secretary and his office and then had to plunge by himself into the research tasks that Searcy gave him. To compound the loss of his secretary, Charles now tasked Arthur with delivering parcels to various places in Los Angeles. The parcels appeared to be legitimate company business and Arthur wasn't nosy enough to find out what was in them. One of the parcels was slated for Julius and Sons in Studio City. Arthur left his warehouse office, drove out to the address on the parcel, but received no answer when he attempted to deliver it.Meanwhile, Arthur received strange letters that were postmarked Studio City. Strange because the letters only contained one word: Probe. He was at a loss to try to explain why he was getting such peculiar letters. The unraveling of the mystery of the letters as well as the death of one of the women Arthur was fond of put him on a descending spiral of detection and murder. How will be extract himself from this enigmatic mess? Reading the novel will answer that question.

The stories I told to my son Thomas at bedtime were similar to the stories in this book. His companions on these fictional journeys were White Bear and Goldilocks. Some of the elements in the stories are what he wanted to hear and including them seemed to be the right thing to do.

Action, adventure, mystery are all part of Peter Monocot and the Sea Devils. The action comes from building and flying model airplanes. The adventure comes from building the biggest model airplanes Peter has ever built. The mystery comes from the nefarious plan of a band of terrorists. Peter Monocot is a 12-year-old whose military pilot father taught him how to build model airplanes. His father's death in an Air Force jet crash left Peter's Uncle Jim as the "man of the family," although Peter's mother, Estelle, wields the real power in the household. Peter and his uncle find themselves entangled in the plot that has layers of intrigue and mystery, which they cannot untangle. All they know is that they will be well paid for building and flying two model airplanes.Amazon Expert Reviewer comments: The plot is interesting and could really grab the attention of the young reader. Peter is a sympathetic character and is a likable kid.This novel has potential as an exciting and thrilling book for the young reader.One of the stronger aspects of the excerpts was the details. I could clearly see Jassim and Hammer, see uncle Jim's face and Peter's unease.Overall I think adventurous young adults will like the novel. It was strong in the details of the plane, and had enough details to paint the picture of the scenery and characters.

Peter Dawes continues the search for Jack Rhodes by taking stagecoach and steamboat to San Francisco where Rhodes was shanghaied.
