Supply Chain is a process and flow of activities that touch all the primary areas of Finance, Sales & Distribution and Materials Management plus (at least) Production and Quality management. The target audience of this book is the users in organizations and SAP consultants though the book is very exhaustive and is of use to practically anyone interested in SCM. This Supply Chain manual will thus involve all functions across this entire spectrum. It covers the important transactional functions relating to the entire Order to cash, Requisition to Pay, General Ledger & daily and periodic financial activities in any organization. In writing this book, I have stayed away from all frills and concentrated on providing only useful subject matter with tips and tricks based on over my multiple years experience in SAP implementations and consulting. This book is not a result of overnight arrangement but a composition of several years of training and understanding of Business processes across multiple industries in various disciplines. I believe it is as comprehensive as any book can be for users new and old, to conducting Supply Chain functions on SAP. This manual will be very useful to someone trying to make an entry into the field of SAP as a user and not knowing where to begin, to companies already implementing or running SAP and to consultants wanting to explore the user side better to become more comfortable with the Business lingo.
One of the primary learning curves in SAP is navigation. Often SAP has been criticized for being very frustrating to learn as the screens seem complex and very intimidating. Every new SAP implementation invariably has training courses only for navigation and basic guidance. Mastering navigation in SAP is half the battle won. This book has attempted to remove the phobia around this navigation by walking you though the basics and making the learning curve easier and less complex. Use F1 for help liberally - it will help you wade through the screens understanding everything thoroughly. As is the case with all seemingly multifaceted structures, the base of SAP is very simple. In spite of SAP's complexity as an ERP system, it's edifice is built on very easy processes as you will notice while going through this book. Processes that are uniform, scalable and easily comprehensible.
Business Processes in SAP encompasses everything an organization would ordinarily go in it's day to day functioning and much more. It covers the entire Order to Cash cycle, the complete Requisition to Pay cycle & periodic and daily Accounting and Financial activities. This manual also refers exhaustively to cross functional areas in SAP and the touch points of where one module hands over data and affects the others. It is an invaluable guide for anyone associated with working on SAP, as a user or as a consultant. Not much about Supply Chain in SAP is left uncovered.
SAP Supply Chain Manual is a composition of how all business activities are performed in SAP relating to Requisition to Pay, Order to Cash, General ledger Accounting and Periodic reporting.
