Die Arbeit ist - soweit ersichtlich - die erste monographische Auseinandersetzung mit dem sogenannten continuing crime im Völkerstrafrecht. Dieses hat sich in Rechtsprechung und Lehre als Deliktsform herausgebildet, die sich durch eine zeitlich gestreckte Begehung auszeichnet. In diesem Zusammenhang stellen sich verschiedene Fragen, die sowohl den "allgemeinen" als auch den "besonderen Teil" des IStGH-Statuts betreffen, die in der bisherigen Diskussion jedoch nur teilweise aufgeworfen und beantwortet werden. Mit der Doktorschrift wird der aktuelle Forschungsstand systematisiert, die Deliktsform im Rechtsvergleich betrachtet und anschließend im IStGH-Statut erprobt.

Rechtsgefühle (feelings about law and justice) influence legal processes, politics as well as attitudes towards law, and have centrally impacted legal history. Using Rudolph von Jhering's The Struggle for Law (1872) as a point of departure, the essays explore 'legal feelings' as a sensus juridicus - a judge's effort to make legal norms fit the facts at hand -, as the emotions evoked by laws and legal processes, and as catalysts for legal reforms. The Russian invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022 poses a fundamental challenge to the OSCE, rendering the future of cooperative security and the survival of the organization uncertain. The 2022 edition of OSCE Insights sheds light on the impact of the war in Ukraine on the OSCE. Authors discuss whether there are any lessons from the history of the CSCE/OSCE that can show a way forward for dealing with a situation where a participating State violates core principles of the organization. This book deals with the European Union energy law. It contains an introduction (terms, overview), the market system for electricity and gas (e.g. equal treatment, network access), the regulatory institutions (ACER, requirements for the national regulatory authorities) and the European coordination institutions (ENTSO for Electricity etc). A separate chapter is dedicated to the security of supply for electricity and gas (risk-preparedness plan [electricity], emergency plan and solidarity principle [gas]). The years of 2019 and 2020 offered the opportunity to commemorate four anniversaries: On 4 November 2020, it was 70 years ago that the ECHR, was signed. Ten years later, the ECtHR began its work. The primary goal of this book is to trace the European Commission's strategies of dealing with the politicisation of EU legislation. In a case study on President Jean-Claude Juncker's term of office, the authors of this volume analyse how the EU Commission set and advanced certain political priorities between 2014 and 2019. The analysis focuses on the ten political priorities which the Juncker Commission retained in all of its annual work programmes from its inception onwards, starting with its self-proclaimed role as a 'political commission'. However, this study's assessment of the 'politicisation' of integration policy is ambiguous: On the one hand, the Juncker Commission deliberately adopted politicised issues and tried to use them as opportunities for political leadership as well as to hone its own institutional profile. The Western Balkans and the Visegrad Group are two macro-regions within the larger Eastern European area. Geographically and historically close, both regions share comparable characteristics on a macro-regional level as well as among the region's individual countries on a national level. Der europäische Integrationsprozess war eine der Erfolgsgeschichten des letzten Jahrhunderts. Dabei war es stets das vorrangige Bestreben die Integration voranzutreiben, indem die gegenseitige Zusammenarbeit immer weiter vertieft wurde ("ever closer Union"). Der Brexit hat diesem Konzept offensichtlich ein Ende gesetzt. Ist dies - horribile dictu - der Beginn des Endes der EU? The book is the first study on the history of one of the most powerful semi-governmental international organizations in interwar Japan: the League of Nations Association of Japan. Established in 1920 for the purpose of achieving the spirit of the League of Nations, the association was at the center of Japanese international cooperation and, even after Japan's withdrawal from the League itself, acted vigorously as a member of the non-governmental International Federation of League of Nations Societies. Based on extensive multi-archival research, this book explores how members of the association including both governmental and non-governmental actors tried to address international problems such as racial equality, migration, labour, and population. By doing so, the book reconstructs a little-known history of Japan's international cooperation and puts it into the context of global history.
