The fact that the teachers involved in bilingual classes in Mozambique do not have specific training in the language they should teach is sometimes a big hindrance to the whole process of learning and teaching. The lack of teaching materials for bilingual classes is another drawback which affects bilingual education in Mozambique and hence the major problem of this work: The cases study for the production of this book is characterized by lack of teaching materials when it comes to teaching in a local language. The teachers usually resort to locally improvised materials to teach the students in Cithsuwa. Associated with the lack of teaching materials, the fact that the teachers who work with bilingual teachers were not trained in the language they should work is one of the biggest hindrance for the success of bilingual education because the students get to grade 6 with serious problems to read and write in both, Portuguese and Cithsuwa.

The photodegradation of methyl orange (MO) was studied with ZnO as a photocatalyst under UV irradiation. Solutions of MO of 10 and 500 ppm were prepared for photocatalytic degradation. Three different wavelengths (254, 302, 365 nm) were used for the photocatalysis of solutions of MO. The experimental results show that the solution of 10 ppm of MO after 2 hours under UV light irradiation was completely decolourised with 20.7 mg of ZnO photocatalyst. While the solution of MO 500 ppm after 6 hours of illumination was not ecolourised considerable using 1.5 g ZnO photocatalyst. Particular attention was devoted in the pathways of the photocatalytic reaction of MO when exposed to UV light at three different wavelengths (254, 302, 365 nm). The samples collected during the photodegradation of MO 10 ppm were analysed by using HPLC-UV at 466 nm. The experimental results demonstrated that the photodegradation of MO 10 ppm at different wavelengths (254, 302 and 365 nm) followed the same pathway, but in different photodegradation rate. Whereas the samples of MO at 500 ppm collected during the photocatalytic reaction were analysed by mass HPLCMS.

The study presents a detailed analysis of the discursive exchanges that occur in social networks established on Twitter and Facebook from the Dengue Fever tag. The research presents three analyzes: multimodal, lexical and networks to understand and a general and lexical analysis focused on presenting the discursive exchanges between the characters, scenarios, spaces and times of composition of the environments and interfaces of networks occurred in relation to the tag and the meme DENGUE FEVER. The methodology was performed by virtual observation. A qualitative analysis with temporal clipping of thematic groups on Facebook and Twitter. The networks were configured as centralized and random, the knowledge exchanged focused on diagnoses, symptoms and ways of treating the disease, and multimodality contributed to an exchange of reification of knowledge of the groups observed.

Human machine interface has been a growing field of scientific research for the last years. Conventional robots have been conceived as rigid metallic structures and, when metal meets human tissue, it is necessary to break the mindset in order to achieve better interaction. Exoskeletons, often called wearable robots, shares the same challenges with applications ranging from industry, to military, medicine and entertainment. This work introduces a systematic design of a development platform for exoskeleton research supported by Requirement Engineering and implemented through prototyping. From a practical perspective, we present the design and construction of an experimental workbench and the use of an on-line and open source repository for the control software development. The experimental workbench which was designed to meet the stakeholders needs - the university, patients and therapists - being of modular application, easy to operate and relatively low cost, can be used to conduct motor control experiments and rehabilitation tasks.

A great deal of research in the field of education has placed the emphasis on the analysis of learning as strictly cognitive. Particularly in the area of mathematics as a science in which only intellectual effort is involved. It has been until relatively recently that the interest in a different area and in fact considered diametrically opposite: affection, arises in the investigation. This is perhaps explained by the lack of a theoretical framework and an adequate methodology to measure affections. At present, more and more researchers in mathematics have paid attention to affective issues, and both their theoretical frameworks and their tools for obtaining data are increasingly solid and varied. In this paper we intend to present an overview of these investigations, giving an account of several theories that support the relationship between the affective domain and the cognitive domain, specifically associated with the concurrence of emotions in the learning of mathematics. This research is of a descriptive character with mixed methodology, and aims to contribute in the field of the affective domain considering the emotions in relation to basic mathematical competences.

The importance of multimedia databases has been growing over the last years in the most diverse areas of application, such as: Medicine, Geography, etc. With the growth of importance and of use, including the explosive increase of multimedia data on the Internet, comes the larger dimensions of these databases. This evolution creates the need for more efficient indexing structures in a way that databases can be useful, returning accurate results in a short time. Typically, these databases use multi-dimensional indexing structures to deal with feature vectors extracted from multimedia elements. However, the majority of existing multidimensional indexing structures, suffer from the well-known ¿dimensionality curse¿, making the search in high-dimensional spaces a hard problem. In this work we developed an efficient indexing structure to support large databases containing data of high dimensions (over 100). The new indexing structure, ND-Tree (Norm Diagonal Tree), is based on a new dimension reduction technique based on two metric measures, Euclidean norm and distance to the unity cube diagonal.

The perception of organisational justice is dominant in people¿s lives and organisations as well as being a predictor of workers and organisations¿ success. Indeed, the relevant attitudes and behaviours at work depend, essentially, on judgments about organisational fairness or unfairness. In this study, we will seek to better understand this impact, directly or indirectly, on behaviours and attitudes. The overall results of this study are of much interest to managers as they provide a more comprehensive understanding of the organisational aspects, with a focus on the organisational justice, affecting employee attitudes and behaviours. According to these results, it is possible to design Human Resources Management (HRM) strategies and policies leading to organisational success. With this knowledge, organisations should invest in leaders who believe in the transparency of processes, the need for good quality interpersonal relationships, good communication, and the importance of attending the socio-emotional needs of employees. Preventing the emergence of burnout will give effectiveness and predictability to HRM practices.
