The final collection of poems by a scientist and poet near the end of an extraordinary life. They reflect on unusual incidents in his life and comment on contemporary concerns of life today. Comments covering politics, current conflicts across the world, impacts of climate change, and other concerns are treated with clarity and insight. Some may challenge the reader. Others may reflect concerns shared by the reader. The narrative style of the poems makes them accessible to a wide range of people who have not read poetry since school. The poems comment on life today in the context of someone whose father worked in provincial administration in the Sudan and who had an extraordinary life in his childhood and youth, including active service during his National Service. With a degree in Natural Sciences at Cambridge, he worked in a Field Centre, then as a medical entomologist working in tropical forests in Belize and Cameroon, then in charge of a field centre and nature reserve in Yorkshire and then as a Research Fellow based in the Department of Zoology University of Cambridge, researching the extraordinary habits of scuttle flies across the world. Several poems indicate that his wife, of a working-class background, was the gifted support throughout, along with their 3 children. Concern for the environment, the impact of climate change, wars worldwide and bureaucratic nonsense gave rise to several poems whose insights and comments may surprise. These impacts on ordinary people link these concerns to our everyday lives.Henry Disney has been writing poems since his youth, with his first collection being published in 1963.

You are designed for success. How can you achieve this success? The answer is straightforward: success comes as a result of few, simple, well-designed habits practised and repeated every day. So why doesn't everybody just do it? The answer is obvious, yet profound, according to John Rohn: it is because the things that are easy to do are also easy not to do. Does this book have the answers to all your life challenges? No! What this book will do is provoke you to think deeper and spur you to immediate, intelligent action. The message in this book is simple: be careful not to neglect doing the small things in your life that make the big things happen. Nothing will change unless you change. Blow the Cap off your Capability is a success and motivational toolbox with practical ideas and wisdom to help change your mindset and motivate you to prompt action so you can achieve your goals and live your best life beginning from right now. Some quotes from this book:Put your eggs in one basket and - watch that basket! (Andrew Carnegie)Success is not what you achieve, it's what you attract by the person you have become. (John Maxwell) The elevator to success is out of order, but the stairs is always open (Zig Ziglar)Jump, then grow wings on the way down. (Jack Canfield)

Have you ever wondered why after watching a movie you are left with a residue of emotions? Perhaps after the credits have rolled off your screen, you've experienced a sense of peace, empowerment, exhilaration, fear or maybe a better understanding of how to deal with a personal issue you've struggled with. Watching a Hollywood movie can be a bit like a brain teaser such as the Rubin Face which leaves you searching for the optical illusion and wondering whether you see the young lady or the old woman. Many times God challenges us to go deeper than the surface of the movie, in the hope that we will discover principles that can be gleaned from beneath the excitement and buzz of the film. By juxtaposing Hollywood movies and biblical characters, the author connects the dots for the reader so that they are guided through fundamental biblical truths in order to better understand and navigate through their own life challenges on a daily basis. What does Bruce Almighty have in common with the biblical Samson? What is Prophet Jonah doing in the Wizard of Oz instead of going down to Nineveh? Find out in this fun and feisty easy-to-read book, and while you are at it-take the time to look beyond the surface of the movie and you will sense God speaking to you in encouraging, practical and at times convicting ways.

The wealthy and reclusive Harry Quirke, misanthropist and student of the piano works of Alkan, is stabbed to death in his country house outside Tadcaster. Only one of the obvious suspects seems to have much of a motive: his alibi is shaky, it is true, but there is no proof of his involvement. DI Moat and his assistant DS Stockwell follow one false lead after another in an exasperating investigation that seems to be getting nowhere: a gypsy caravan, an old murder in Kansas, the hurried will of a dying man, a golf-course green and an unfinished catalogue of Alkan's works - none of it seems to make sense. Finally, the murderer makes the smallest of slips, and the penny drops - but it's a close thing!Book reviews online @ www.publishedbestsellers.com

SILVER EAGLE', the official biography of "e;Band of Brothers"e; veteran Clancy Lyall, written by his friend Ronald Ooms. After the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and seeing every young man leave town to join the army or the merchant marine, Clancy, who was only sixteen, didn't want to stay behind. He lied about his age and enlisted into the military. He became part of the 101st Airborne and saw action in Europe where he jumped into Normandy during D-Day. After a narrow escape from death he was reassigned to Easy Company 506, the famous 'Band of Brothers'. He saw action during Operation Market Garden, confronted the freezing temperatures and brutal barrage by the enemy during the Battle of the Bulge, witnessed the horrors of the concentration camps in Nazi Germany and became the first allied soldier to step into Hitler's 'Eagles Nest' in Berchtesgaden. At the end of World War II he re-enlisted and joined the 82nd Airborne where he was stationed near Frankfurt, Germany. He made two more combat jumps in Korea, doubling his total of combat stars on his jump wings. And with that becoming one of the few to ever achieve that feat. In Indochina he became an adviser for the 29th French Parachute Division. This is his story told by the man himself.Book reviews online @ www.publishedbestsellers.com

A Personal commentary on Fredericus Svane Africanus' autobiographyThe Theologian Slave Trader explores the life of Fredericus Petersen, a mulatto adopted in 1710 by a Danish Lutheran Priest at Christiansborg Fort in what is now Ghana and who was subsequently brought back to Denmark as a teenager. The Danish king, no less, Frederik IV, was his godfather. Fredericus Petersen wrote a compelling autobiography which for many years has been largerly ignored. In The Theologian Slave Trader, Dr Christiana Oware Knudsen, herself a Ghanaian who for 50 years has lived in Denmark, brings this autobiography, The General Declaration, to life and contemporary relevance by contextualising Africanus' experience within a personal commentary on her personal family history in Ghana. Dr Knudsen approaches this historical material with the lively and engaging approach of an African story-teller, interweaving historical facts with family legends and documented impressions of the period. In so doing, she also poses a number of challenging contemporary questions about aspects of our understanding of slavery and inter-cultural relations.Book reviews online @ www.publishedbestsellers.com

This book brings clarity to many pertinent questions on healing; it is balanced, full of practical relevance and spiritual depth. The mix between theological arguments and spiritual truth is striking. It is not the typical, sometimes shallow Pentecostal expose but provides historical, biblical and practical perspectives that leave the title of the book fair and representative. 'The Wholesome Truth about Healing' is an excellent writ; worth every page it is written on and comes highly recommend to every Christian....Dr Albert Odulele, Senior Pastor, Glory House Churches, International "e;This is a powerful book in an age where secularism, humanism and pluralism are invading the Church and its teachings; it is refreshing to have a prophetic voice bring us back to basics. This volume is academic, intellectual, informative but inspirational all at the same time. Its pages drip with depth and insight gleaned from years of learning and empirical study. This message of healing needs to be heard by every hearing ear and yearning heart."e;...Dr Jonathan Oloyede, Borough Dean - Newham, Churches Together in EnglandThe "e;Wholesome truth about healing"e; is indeed a complete and systematic presentation of biblical truths that uphold our heritage of healing. The author has capably proffered scripturally sound answers to several age-long questions that believers have asked. Scholarly excellence is exuded throughout the book. Christians of all theological persuasions would definitely find it most helpful. The book is essential reading for pastors, leaders, counselors, bible scholars and Christians alike....Mr Richard Oyin-Adeniji, Project Coordinator, BASIC Trust InternationalBook reviews online @ www.publishedbestsellers.com

Thornaby, 1930, saw the formation of 608 squadron Auxiliary Air Force. Remembered by some veterans as "e;the kipper patrol,"e; their job as part of Coastal Command, involved protecting shipping convoys, looking for submarines and defending the northern supply routes. Although their role was never seen as glamorous and never received national glory, nonetheless, they played a significant part in the defence of the United Kingdom. This book tells the story of young pilots such as Geoffrey Ambler, Geoffrey Shaw, William Appleby-Brown and Peter Vaux, and airmen such as Albert Guy, Harold Coppick and Syd Buckle, and considers how their lives were dramatically changed with the onset of the Second World War, which saw them cease to be part-timers and become full time members of the Royal Air Force. The Kipper Patrol serves as an insight into the history of this squadron, as well as the history of Thornaby Aerodrome itself. It uses as its basis, a series of interviews with veterans from the squadron and presents their memories of squadron life, along with many of their personal photographs. The book provides an insight into relationships between officers and other ranks within a military organisation and shows how these relationships changed over time. The Kipper Patrol provides a long awaited history of a squadron remembered by many local people, and recognised by both the Airman Memorial and the replica Spitfire. It serves as a lasting memory to both the squadron and the aerodrome, and in particular, to the many veterans who so willingly gave up their time to share their memories.Book reviews online @ www.publishedbestsellers.com

WAR?DEATH AND DESTRUCTION?VIOLENCE, HATRED, INEXPRESSIBLE GRIEF?PEOPLES PITTED AGAINST EACH OTHER, TO THE DEATH?WHY ON EARTH SHOULD I WANT TO READ ABOUT IT?THERE'S ENOUGH IN THE MEDIA EVERY DAY, SURELY?YES:BUT THIS IS DIFFERENT.The stories in this Anthology aim to give a vivid insight, through a fascinating mixture of history, reminiscence and fiction, into life during WWII: for those at the front, those left behind, the young at school, the old in the twilight of their years, parents, lovers, spouses, families, colleagues; Britons, Germans, Irish, Kenyans, French, eastern Europeans and Americans (plus the odd 'undesirable alien'!).These pages see householders struggling to maintain a semblance of normality; young men reluctant to volunteer; soldiers determined to win; acts of generosity, acts of cowardice. In these pages, there is violence - impossible to avoid in an Anthology dedicated to the memory of war - but there is also humour and romance, suspense and emotion, heroism and daring. Even the paranormal puts in an appearance (as one might say). The action is set variously in France, Britain, Eire, Kenya, Russia, Poland ...You are guaranteed hours of stimulation, enjoyment and fruitful relaxation with a book devoted to one of the defining events of our times.STARE INTO THE PAST WITH THE EYES OF THOSE GRIPPED BY ITS DRAMA.All the stories have been especially written for this Anthology by writers experienced in their field. Pneuma Springs is proud to present it to commemorate seventy years after the end of hostilities.Contributors:Karl Brockmann, Annie Coyle Martin, Julius Falconer, Peter Good, Neal James Andrew Malloy, Steve Morris, Neil Morton, Ron Ooms, Chris Pownall, Derek Rosser, Avril Saunders, Derek Smith, Louise Wilkinson
