    If you are a long-time Alaskan hunter and trapper or an adventurous person that has dreamed about wilderness experiences in Alaska, you will not be able to put this book down. As other have said, "e; Marty is the real deal"e; when it comes to a person who has lived the wilderness lifestyle in Alaska. Luckily for us readers, Marty was willing to share his wonderful stories (some humorous, some harrowing) in this book. - Ted Spraker My good friend, Marty Meierotto, has lived a life that most of us have only dreamed of. His new book is filled with true life adventures that reflect both the joys and hazards of living in the remote Alaskan Bush. It is definitely a read worth your time. John Daniel President, National Trappers Association When I first met Marty Meierotto, I thought he looked like the vending machine repairman at a bowling alley in Cleveland. Three days later, having gotten lost in the Arctic while trapping with him and having him rescue me, I realized that there was nothing the guy couldn't do. Read this book and you'll see what I mean. -Bill Heavey editor-at-large Field & Stream

    Author and historian Randy Zarnke has compiled a collection of irreplaceable stories of long-time Alaskans who have lived lives most of us can only dream of. Truly remarkable men, like Jim Rearden and Red Beeman, are the kinds of outdoorsmen who have given back more than they have ever taken, furthering the causes of conservation and fair chase hunting through exemplary lives. Rearden, a long-time member of the Alaska Board of Game and one of the founders of the wildlife management program at the University of Alaska, is the dean of Alaska outdoor writers and authors. His writings have always counseled the "e;wise use"e; of natural resources and he has never back down from slamming the spoilers who are motivated only for quick profit. Red Beeman is a master guide, schooled in the old traditions of fair chase hunting. Never one to blow his own horn, Beeman provided his hunters with first class excursions; his clients safe in knowing their trophies would be handled professionally, all the meat salvaged and cared for expertly, and no better fair chase hunt could be found in Alaska. These men, and others, in Randy's book are sadly fading from the scene and it is a joy to know that at least a little of their stories will be preserved for future generations to emulate and learn from."e;

    Although our hearts ached, our negative emotions demanded us to give up hope from this tragedy, but we couldn't let them dictate how the rest of this journey would end. We took back control. Romans 8:18 Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory, He will reveal to us later. We learned through this journey that we could rely on our faith each day, one day at a time, living beyond the lies we tell ourselves, and that we could find strength and hope and get through each day as it came, as long as we were willing to make the right choices over and above our feelings, God is always faithful to give us the strength we need. If you feel alone in the midst of a storm you're facing, looking to be inspired and hopeful through one's tragedy, even in Grief, this book is for you.

    War and the End Game is the twelfth and final book of the Sybil series: it has been a fun ride, and the author hopes you will enjoy the exciting finish. President Sybil Norcroft Daniels has one more test of her philosophy as an unaligned political figure: dealing with repression and discrimination against LGBTQQIAAP members of the navy; perhaps one crusade too many. The hostilities between the US and the DPRK escalate out of control with armed intrusions by America--dubbed a 'paper tiger' by the Precious Leader of the Hermit Kingdom--and a final risk taken by Chairman Kim and his cohort, the Supreme Leader of Iran. They fire nuclear-tipped ICBMs at CONUS, the last straw for President Daniels, who launches Operation EndgameWar. The epilogue deals with the results.

    My Pursuit of the Axis of Evil is about meetings and adventures with interesting people in Asia and Alaska. I followed the advice of a long-ago traveler named Pythagoras, who admonished us to check your prejudices at every port of entry."e; As a result, I mostly traveled solo, merged with the locals, and got to see, experience, and understand things that would not have been otherwise possible. Plus, the locals can keep you out of trouble and get you out of trouble if you get into it! In Alaska, I sought out native elders and others in the far corners of this enormous state, street people, and the many interesting and famous people visiting or passing through. And high-level politicians-often at the opposite end of the political and social issues spectrum than me. I learned a lot, made new friends, and often got to see things from a different perspective. Encounters were overwhelmingly positive, and it is these people to whom I dedicate My Pursuit of the Axis of Evil. I commend you for your natural curiosity and desire to go out into the world and see for yourself. Pursuit of the Axis of Evil is a great primer on how to engage and interact with the incredible variety of people we meet on international travel - people that appear on the surface to be very different from you and me. Ketch Ketchum's story is like many other people who grew up in America's Great Depression. He was raised on his parents' homestead in Readyville, Idaho. Ketch and his brothers milked cows, dug postholes, collected firewood, and marched to the tune of a strict father. He joined the Army Air Corp in 1942, married his high school sweetheart, Marguerite, and traveled the world with the new United States Air Force. Ketch retired as a Major Command pilot in 1964, and this is when his Alaska adventure begins. Traveling north on the Alaska Canada Highway in a trailer with three kids, the family's road ended in Anchorage, Alaska. Ketch, building on his Air Force flying career, mastered the single engine planes of the Alaska bush pilots. Eventually, he and Marguerite established Ketchum Air Service on Lake Hood and never looked back. The next 35years were devoted to flying the Alaska wilderness. He transported hunters and fishermen, flew ski-planes for winter seismic exploration on the North Slope, supplied aircraft support during the Exxon Valdez oil spill cleanup, and grew the air service business from one to twelve airplanes. These are the stories of his flying exploits in Alaska.
