Bag om LOVE OR LUST I (according to Charlotte)
In her mid-fifties, Charlotte tries to escape decades of stifling married life and leaves London with its luxury and hypocrisy. She settles in the Highlands and finds herself in a land of legends, myths and folklore, on the back of a quad bike, live on BBC TV and chasing liberation as well as sexual fulfilment. The reader will follow her inner and outer struggles: will she manage to set herself free or will she return to her husband and to the temptations of affluence and of the familiar? how will she settle in her new surroundings and will the local community accept her? how will she fulfil her needs and desires, especially her sexual ones? will she dare to take the steps to empower herself in such a manner that life really becomes hers for the taking? This novel is the first of a trilogy. The other two are called: LOVE OR LUST II (according to Fergus) LOVE OR LUST III (according to Rhanna) Their styles differ considerably, because each novel is written in the first person from the perspective of the character mentioned in the title. This creates variation for the reader and puts the main characters in three totally different frames of reference.. A fascinating concept. What all three have in common is a Dutch frankness and openness in their style of writing, which makes personalities very palpable and recognisable. Readers easily follow how the characters' psychological and mental musings shape physical actions and longings, especially sexual longings. The books may well become bedside companions for women whose dreams and desires are as yet unfulfilled and for men who are still searching for the relationship of their fantasies.
