Bag om Other Times, Other Places
Leigh Anne Scott is born to a middle class Kentucky family in the midst of the Great Depression. Her father Richard's family value education, books, and travel, but not wealth or what it can buy. Her mother Margaret's family place great emphasis on owning land and farming it successfully, using the income to buy more property, conveniences, and to dress well. From birth through puberty, Leigh Anne is caught in the middle of constant battles between these two such different lifestyles and values. In addition, she must cope with the normal fears and fantasies of growing up against the background of a global war that scarcely touches her reality. The gamut of human emotions and the struggle to survive, as experienced by one family from 1929 through 1945, are seen through Leigh Anne's eyes.
