The two of them fall in love but things are quite dicey. Selena's parents Caesar and Elisabeth Texeira are totally accepting of their favorite outspoken tomboy. Jamila's parents Khadija and Awaleh Ahmed back in America will kill her if they ever discover she likes girls. Selena and Jamila's growing love is strained by Jamila's fears.
