This comprehensive scholarly edition gathers all the verse, including previously unpublished pieces, written by Everson during his eighteen years as a Dominican lay brother, Brother Antoninus. Taken together, these poems provide a passionate record of Everson/Antoninus's struggle to maintain strict vows of celibacy. That struggle is fraught with dramatic tension, as the poet strives to establish a fragile equilibrium between opposed psychic polarities of Spirit and Flesh.

The first book of poetry written throughout 2017. Facing the end of his marriage, the author reminisces on his life and losses as he prepares for the end.

Continuing the poetry collection, Book Two chronicles most of 2018. In many ways a continuation of Book One, the author pours out his experiences following his divorce. In the same "warts and all" approach, he reports upon his pain, his distractions, and his attempts at healing and perspective.

The third in the series contains poems from the first half of 2019. The author chronicles his experiences as he explores his shadows and hope of recovery.

Book Four - Poems from the second half of 2019 into 2020. In the same "warts and all" style, the author begins to make progress in his recovery. While the themes remain full of sorrow and loss, the poems now have a dawning hope and calm release throughout..

Book Five, written throughout 2020, begins where Book Four left off... then veers as the pandemic begins. Through the poems, the author expresses his solitude and fantasies as his isolation grows.

In 2021, the author slowly emerges from isolation, stumbling back into the world. Book Six teeters between intoxication and inspiration.

Book Seven - poems from 2022. The author's focus shifts from the past to the present and the future, as he explores his place in the world and connection with creativity.

Something new happening. Primarily written at the beginning of 2023, the work has a faster pace, reflective at times, always sincere. Book Eight expresses confidence and regained strength, an openness to love and the difficulties maintaining it.
