Lero and Jean are interrupted from their normal office routine at Group 47 at Davis Monthan Air Base in Tucson by an urgent request from Mr. Murfree (the President). An old adversary is transferring some nuclear triggers by sea to the country most dedicated to fomenting international terrorism. Its promise to wipe Israel from the map makes this mission even more critical. Come along with Lero, Jean and Jefe, as they muster forces to combat the threat, but pull your seat belt tight.

Lero and Jean are in Africa assisting in a United Nations Health Initiative when they are urgently called away by Mr. Murfree (the President), on the way to Washington they are intercepted by their old friend and former boss, Jefe, who is likewise on his way to Washington. Lero is the head of Group 47, which undertakes "projects" for the President and reports solely and directly to him. Once they land at Andrews Joint Base, they are taken by Secret Service agents to a meeting in a business office just off the Beltway. There they are met, by surprise, by the President, who tells them that the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency has disappeared on a flight from Japan over the Pacific, along with his Chief of Plans and Chief of Covert Operations. The next few days are full of surprises and, once again, Lero, Jean and Jefe are pressed into service to carry out a mission that had been planned solely between the Director of the CIA and the President, in secret.
