Thabit ibn Qurra (826-901) was one of history's most original thinkers and displayed expertise in the most difficult disciplines of this time: geometry, number theory, and astronomy as well as ontology, physics, and metaphysics.

Contains an English translation of an important medieval treatise on Aristotle's Metaphysics. This translation has been prepared on the basis of a wide range of documents including, apart from the available Arabic editions, various medieval manuscripts as well as a Latin translation prepared in the Renaissance.

"Avicenna's Metaphysics" (in Arabic "Ilahiyyat") is one of the most important metaphysical treatises after Aristotle. This title presents studies on its direct and indirect influence on Arabic, Hebrew, and Latin culture from the early 11th through the 16th century.

The first three books of the Conica deals with the basic elements of the theory of conical sections. Until recently these three books were only known from Eutocius' text. This volume provides a critical edition of the Arabic text, a translation of it into a modern language and a detailed historical and mathematical commentary.

Contains the Greek translations of books II-IV of the "Conica of Apollonius of Perge". This book is arranged according to the same principle as the previous volume on book I: the critical edition of the Greek text is accompanied by numerous notes and a lexicon of all mathematical terms.
