A New York Times Book Review Editors' Choice Opening like a fairy tale and ending like a nightmare, this cannonball of a queer coming-of-age novel follows a young man's relationship with a violent older boyfriend--and how he and his sister survive a terrible crime After years of severed communication, Justin appears on his sister's doorstep needing a place to stay. The home he's made for himself has collapsed, as has everything else in his life. When they were children, Willa played the role of her brother's protector, but now, afraid of the chaos he might bring, she's reluctant to let him in. Willa lives a carefully ordered life working as a nurse and making ornate dioramas in her spare time. As Justin tries to connect with the people she's closest to--her landlord, her boyfriend, their mother--she begins to feel exposed. Willa and Justin's relationship has always been strained yet loving, frustrating and close. But it hits a new breaking point when Justin spirals out of control, unable to manage his sobriety and the sustained effects of a brain injury. Years earlier, in high school, desperate to escape his home life and his disapproving, troubled mother, Justin falls into the hands of his first lover, a slightly older boy living on his own who offers Justin some semblance of intimacy and refuge. When Justin's boyfriend commits a terrifying act of violence, the two flee on a doomed road trip, a journey that will damage Justin and change his and his family's lives forever. Weaving together these two timelines, Brother & Sister Enter the Forest unravels the thread of a young man's trauma and the love waiting for him on the other side.

Author Bruce Stores has shed light on a hitherto unknown chapter in the annals of Christian Science. Here is the story of lesbian/gay believers. Herein is their pursuit for respect and dignity in the Church of Christ, Scientist. Th e narrative traces stormy encounters from the days of near-total rejection up to the friendlier atmosphere in the 21st century. This book relates perseverance, hope, and especially healing.Anyone who values the triumph of right over wrong, and truth over error, will fi nd this narrative both compelling and highly informative. Despite the title, this book has little to do with religion per se. Its purpose is to chronicle a segment of the ages-old conflict between freedom of conscience and ecclesiastical authoritarianism. • af Ryan Field
    163,95 kr.

Lambda-award winning author Ryan Field wrote this gay romance as part of his series of novels retelling beloved romcoms with gay characters. Inspired by the romcom classic Nora Ephron movie, When Harry Met Sally, about two friends who finally realize how much they love each other after many years, this novel is an homage to the power of romantic story telling and the power for true love. When Harry Beckham's best friend asks him to drive her new, casual boyfriend, Sal Sorentino, from California to New York, Harry never expected they'd wind up as lovers their first night on the road. Harry just assumes that Sal is straight, and Harry already has a boyfriend of his own back in San Francisco. But when Sal explains that he's bisexual and that he's extremely attracted to Harry, everything changes. Harry tries to resist the mutual attraction, but all it takes is one simple kiss and they both wind up having the best sex of their lives on a cross-country road trip. When they reach New York, they agree to go their separate ways and forget about each other. Harry becomes a well-known designer who does national talk shows, and Sal becomes a professional poker player who lives in a mansion and owns a pet pig named Dolly. And by the time they meet up again seven years later, their lives have changed completely. But that doesn't stop the passionate physical connection between them from surfacing again. Though all the odds seem to be against them, their physical relationship evolves into mutual love and respect. And this unyielding love they feel for each other turns out to be stronger than anything they could have imagined. "When Harry Met Sal was definitely one of my early reads in the M/M genre and it was one of the books that for the longest time I would reread every time I couldn't find a sweet, funny romance that made me smile and laugh this was my go to book."--Goodreads Reader

In the vein of The Pisces and The Vegetarian, Chlorine is a debut novel that blurs the line between a literary coming-of-age narrative and a dark unsettling horror tale, told from an adult perspective on the trials and tribulations of growing up in a society that puts pressure on young women and their bodies... a powerful, relevant novel of immigration, sapphic longing, and fierce, defiant becoming.Ren Yu is a swimmer. Her daily life starts and ends with the pool. Her teammates are her only friends. Her coach is her guiding light. If she swims well enough, she will be scouted, get a scholarship, go to a good school. Her parents will love her. Her coach will be kind to her. She will have a good life. But these are human concerns. These are the concerns of those confined to land, those with legs. Ren grew up on stories of creatures of the deep, of the oceans and the rivers. Creatures that called sailors to their doom. That dragged them down and drowned them. That feasted on their flesh. The creature that she's always longed to become: the mermaid.Ren aches to be in the water. She dreams of the scent of chlorine, the feel of it on her skin. And she will do anything she can to make a life for herself where she can be free. No matter the pain. No matter what anyone else thinks. No matter how much blood she has to spill.
