The book provides a detailed account of the group's tactics and strategies in military operations, resource extraction, and political interference, and analyzes the implications for regional security and international relations. The author, Sahil A Gosalia, is an expert in international relations and security studies and has extensively researched the Wagner Group and its activities. "...

While Ibsen's plays were seldom performed in Romania in the first half of the 20th century, historical sources highlight his strong impact on the national theatre practice. To address this contradiction, Gianina Druta approaches the reception of Ibsen in the Romanian theatre in the period 1894-1947, combining Digital Humanities and theatre historiography. This investigation of the European theatre culture and the way in which the foreign acting and staging traditions influenced the Romanian Ibsenites provides new insights into mechanisms of aesthetic transmission. Thus, this study presents a European theatre landscape whose unpredictability and uniqueness cannot be confined to essentialist interpretations.
Formal categorization of people presents significant challenges. When politics and law become ethnicized, the pivotal question arises: who is who? This problem surfaced in Moravia after the 1905 Settlement. Other countries faced similar dilemmas decades later, during affirmative action implementation. Contemporary Moravians, like Americans or Brazilians later on, possibly grappled with a clash between traditional individual rights and modern collective rights. The critical inquiry: how far can we limit individual rights for collective rights (nation, race, minority)? Moravia, in the early 20th century, served as the first experimental laboratory.

Ela! Ela! is a collection of recipes and stories from cook and food writer Ella Mittas. Inspired by her time working in a village in the mountains of Crete and the hot, loud streets of Istanbul, as well as her Greek heritage, they represent a journey of food, culture and belonging. These simple, comforting recipes are a mix of things Ella saw, ate and was taught on her travels, though years of cooking them have made them something more her own. Above all, they represent community – the reason Ella ever wanted to cook at all.
In the spring of 1944, Stalin deported the Crimean Tatars, a small Sunni Muslim nation, from their ancestral homeland on the Black Sea peninsula. The gravity of this event, which ultimately claimed the lives of tens of thousands of victims, was shrouded in secrecy after the Second World War. What broke the silence in Soviet Russia, Soviet Ukraine, and the Republic of Turkey were works of literature. These texts of poetry and prose - some passed hand-to-hand underground, others published to controversy - shocked the conscience of readers and sought to move them to action.Blood of Others presents these works as vivid evidence of literature's power to lift our moral horizons. In bringing these remarkable texts to light and contextualizing them among Russian, Turkish, and Ukrainian representations of Crimea from 1783, Rory Finnin provides an innovative cultural history of the Black Sea region. He reveals how a "e;poetics of solidarity"e; promoted empathy and support for an oppressed people through complex provocations of guilt rather than shame.Forging new roads between Slavic studies and Middle Eastern studies, Blood of Others is a compelling and timely exploration of the ideas and identities coursing between Russia, Turkey, and Ukraine - three countries determining the fate of a volatile and geopolitically pivotal part of our world.
The world's first botrytis wine, Hungary's Tokaji won an enviable reputation centuries ago. But never before have the development of its winetypes and the story of its ups and downs in fame and prestige been presented so fully in English. Everything from Hungary's founding in the 10th century through the recent communist period is covered. Relying on an array of Hungarian source materials, Lambert-Gcs sets the information out in encyclopedia fashion, with easily digested A to Z entries in four categories: People; Places; Vineyard-Tracts; Grape Varieties and Wine-making. Each section concludes with essays that tie the entries together. Besides being an outstanding reference work, Tokaji Wine is sprinkled with fascinating notes and bacchic humor that make it a delight to read.
"Masterfully told and compellingly reinterpreted." The Moscow TimesStalinism at War tells the epic story of the Soviet Union in World War Two. Starting with Soviet involvement in the war in Asia and ending with a bloody counter-insurgency in the borderlands of Ukraine, Belarus and the Baltics, the Soviet Union's war was both considerably longer and more all-encompassing than is sometimes appreciated. Here, acclaimed scholar Mark Edele explores the complex experiences of both ordinary and extraordinary citizens - Russians and Koreans, Ukrainians and Jews, Lithuanians and Georgians, men and women, loyal Stalinists and critics of his regime - to reveal how the Soviet Union and leadership of a ruthless dictator propelled Allied victory over Germany and Japan. In doing so, Edele weaves together material on the society and culture of the wartime years with high-level politics and unites the military, economic and political history of the Soviet Union with broader popular histories from below. The result is an engaging, intelligent and authoritative account of the Soviet Union from 1937 to 1949.
