The Temple of our Soul is one of the most attractive spiritual texts of the late Middle Ages and early modern period. Written by an anonymous woman, who was also the author of influential The Evangelical Pearl, this masterpiece offers insights into the mystical aspects of Christianity that were widespread in Rhineland and the Low Countries. For political, socio-economic, and geographical reasons, spiritual writings from the Low Countries were highly influential in France, England, and Spain. Language barriers, however, have made the original texts inaccessible to many scholars and students. This bilingual edition offers the first English translation The Temple of our Soul together with the original Dutch text. This edition includes an introduction that provides insights into the text's key themes and the social context in which it was written. In addition to students of medieval mysticism, it will also be of interest to scholars of late medieval and early modern vernacular literature and feminist theology.

Der Plutos gilt gemeinhin als der matte Schlussstein der glanzvollen Karriere des Aristophanes und überhaupt einer Gattung, die ihre Blütezeit lange hinter sich gelassen hat. Die vorliegende Arbeit revidiert dieses negative Urteil. Durch eine umfangreiche Analyse der historischen und kulturellen Hintergründe des Stückes weist sie nach, dass das im Plutos verhandelte Thema des Geldes für das athenische Publikum des Jahres 388 v. Chr. von höchster Aktualität war. Unter Rückgriff auf moderne Theorien nimmt sie die Komik des Stückes in den Blick und analysiert diese nicht nur kleinschrittig Szene für Szene, sondern auch mit Blick auf das Ganze. Herausgearbeitet wird ein komischer Plot, der nicht nur dem Plutos , sondern jeder Komödie des Aristophanes eignet. Die Wirkungsweise der Komik in der Alten Komödie wird somit grundsätzlich neu beschrieben und das Verständnis der Gattung in dieser Hinsicht auf ein neues Fundament gestellt. Die Neuinterpretation des Plutos erweist das Stück als unmittelbare Zeitkritik ganz in der Tradition der Alten Komödie des 5. Jahrhunderts.

Constance of France: Womanhood and Agency in Twelfth-Century Europe is a biography of Constance of France, sister of King Louis VII of France. Myra Bom recovers Constance's life story and puts it in its medieval context by examining the historical evidence of chronicles, charters, seal imprints and letters. The countess's long and interesting life makes for women's history with a large geographical scope, including France, England, Toulouse and the Latin East. It touches on many aspects of life during the Middle Ages such as birth, marriage and divorce, gender roles, experience of time, and expectation for the afterlife. Bom demonstrates how and to what extent medieval women could, and did, take control of their own lives. This book is an account of the interplay of historical context and agency. 

Die dynamische Erforschung des Althochdeutschen findet ihren Niederschlag in kontinuierlicher Weiterentwicklung der Althochdeutschen Grammatik. So wird parallel zur grundlegenden Neufassung von Band II: Syntax auch Band I in einer sorgfältig überarbeiteten, in zahlreichen Details erweiterten 17. Auflage vorgelegt. Nach der positiven Resonanz auf die vorherige Auflage konnte der eingeschlagene Weg weiterverfolgt werden. Die Einarbeitung der Glossenforschung ist fortgeführt und ausgebaut worden. Ihrem Aussagewert gemäß kommen nun die voralthochdeutschen Runenbelege stärker zur Geltung. Um der zweifachen Aufgabe als Referenzwerk und als Studienbuch gerecht zu werden, stehen sowohl die Darstellung der Faktenbasis als auch deren Präsentation im Fokus der Neuauflage. Zahlreiche Phänomene werden auf breiterer Datenbasis beschrieben, zum Teil auch sprachhistorisch neu bewertet. Als wesentliche Neuerung, die vor allem didaktischen Zwecken entgegenkommen dürfte, werden den althochdeutschen Paradigmen nun ihre altsächsischen und mittelhochdeutschen Entsprechungen zur Seite gestellt. Dafür haben die Tabellen, deren Zahl zugelegt hat, ein großzügigeres Layout erhalten. Die Maßnahmen zielen darauf ab, den Nutzen als Referenzgrammatik wie als Lehrbuch weiter zu steigern. Band I und Band II der Althochdeutschen Grammatik sind auch als Set erhältlich.
