Ein partizipatives Kunst-Wissenschafts-Projekt zum Waldsterben Die Veränderungen unserer Wälder - ob es sich hier um tropische oder europäische, um unberührte Naturräume oder angelegte Wirtschaftszonen handelt - sind bei weitem die bedrückendsten Anzeichen der voranschreitenden Klimaveränderung. Waldsterben findet schon seit geraumer Zeit vor unserer Haustür statt und ist in ganz Deutschland zu beobachten, so auch im Stadtwald Rosbach vor der Höhe im Naturpark Hochtaunus bei Frankfurt/Main. Während einer Kunstintervention im Juni 2022 wurde von dort Waldmaterial entnommen und als "Planetarer Wald" in den Botanischen Garten Gießen transplantiert. Das Projekt ist aus dem internationalen Fellowship-Programm des Panel on Planetary Thinking hervorgegangen und erforscht, wie Kunst und Wissenschaft ihre Kräfte bündeln können, um unsere zeitkritischen Herausforderungen anzugehen. Aus scheinbar toter Pflanzenmasse, Blättern, Samen und Erde aufgebaut und gewachsen, zeigt die Skulptur, wie ohne menschliches Eingreifen Leben neu entstehen kann. Das den Rechercheprozess und den Verlauf des Projekts dokumentierende Buch Planetary Forest gibt eine Einführung in das soziokulturelle und ökopolitische Bestreben des Kunst- und Wissenschaftskollektivs. Mit Textbeiträgen der am Projekt beteiligten Personen Liza B. A Participatory Art-Science Project on Forest Dieback The changes in our forests - whether tropical or European, untouched natural areas or cultivated economic zones - are the most gloomy signs of advancing climate change. Forests have been dying right outside our doors for quite some time, as can be seen all over Germany, including in the city forest of Rosbach vor der Höhe, part of the High Taunus Nature Park near Frankfurt/Main. During an art intervention in June 2022, forest material was taken from there and transplanted as "Planetary Forest" into the Giessen Botanical Garden. The project emerged from the international fellowship program of the Panel on Planetary Thinking and explores how art and science may join forces to address our time-critical challenges. Constructed and grown out of dead plant matter, leaves, seeds, and soil, the sculpture illustrates how life may reemerge without human involvement. The book Planetary Forest documents the research process and the project's evolution while introducing the art-science collective's sociocultural and ecopolitical objectives. With contributions by the project participants Liza B. Bauer, Clemens Finkelstein, Frederic Hanusch, Claudia Hartl, Chiara Juriatti, Mathias Kessler, Holger Laake, Claus Leggewie, and Volker Wisseman.

Shaping Tomorrow's World tells the crucial story of how futures studies developed in West Germany, Europe, the US and within global futures networks from the 1940s to the 1980s. It charts the emergence of different approaches and thought styles within the field ranging from Cold War defense intellectuals such as Herman Kahn to critical peace activists like Robert Jungk. Engaging with the challenges of the looming nuclear war, the changing phases of the Cold War, '1968', and the growing importance of both the Global South and environmentalism, this book argues that futures scholars actively contributed to these processes of change. This multiple award-winning study combines national and transnational perspectives to present a unique history of envisioning, forecasting, and shaping the future.

Malinowski's Argonauts of the Western Pacific was a major contribution to anthropological theory and method, while simultaneously establishing the sub-field of economic anthropology. Is this kingdom distinct from others? Will Prince Ebida-owei succeed his more ambitious brother as Pere of the Omata clan, or will he be deposed?

Historical observation shows that all metaphysical traditions use symbols, "ayat" signs, examples, models and archetypes to support a conception. Thus, the animal is a symbol, a support and a means of conception, among many others. In this option, we can say that God in certain Traditions or nature in others, has deposited in each species reasons for wisdom and models of moral conduct for man to benefit from in his path of teaching and journey towards origin. Thus, the nature of animals is created only to be useful. The universe is a harmonious whole: "there is nothing evil in the world. Everything in its place is good". On the other hand, human beings project their own passions onto imaginary characters. We project our own immediate irregular elements, our own instincts, onto animals.

The past of the Uzbek people is rooted in a long history. During this period, both the material and spiritual culture of the people have become immortal examples of world civilization. The intangible cultural heritage of the Uzbek people has been polished by the centuries-old past and is valued as an important subject for deepening democratic reforms and developing civil society. Intangible cultural heritage educates and glorifies human beings. It reveals the beauty of nature and life. The Uzbek people have made a significant contribution to the development of world culture and at the same time developed using universal culture. Of course, this is based on the cultural heritage of the Uzbek people and its immortal samples. Just as the more we know, the more we realize how much we do not know, the more we study cultural heritage, the more we understand its essence. Not studying cultural heritage means that you have a ready-made treasure in your hands, but you are not using it. Hence it is clear that any wealth is worthless if you don't use it, if you don't know how to use it. Therefore, learning about our vast treasure and applying it in all spheres of life will be our ladder to the future.

The aim of this investigation was to analyse the origins and histories of some of the ingredients or preparations from the Sertões region of Crateús, with a view to contributing to the memory of local and traditional habits. To this end, a more in-depth bibliographical study was carried out, based on the search for authors who dealt with the uses, customs and habits of food in Crateús. Subsequently, field research was carried out in two stages: 1) interviews with cooks living in Crateús to find out about the region's main preparations, dishes and inputs. 2) field research in the district of Tucuns, where it was possible to get a glimpse of production in the region's flour houses and the making of manzape. From the analysis and discussion it was possible to obtain relevant data, having identified a strong culture of flour houses and manzape production in Tucuns. It was also possible to see which dishes are symbols of the region, in order to record the preparations and contribute to the memory of local and traditional customs in order to preserve them.

After the press articles and novels, the author presents here, eight historical stories which took place in the south-west region of Oran and in particular in Aïn-Sefra which was once nicknamed: The Pearl of the desert.The region dates back to the last period of prehistory, the Neolithic which is a key era in the history of humanity. It is located between 10,000 and 2500 years before our era when stone tools were used. Evidence of this presence is provided to us by rock carvings representing hunters, elephants, rams, lions... and also the discovery of tumulus and bones of vegetarian dinosaurs.The southwest region was Islamized at the beginning of the 8th century. In the 13th century, the Béni-Amer became the owners of the lands of Aïn-Sefra and its surroundings. Around 1515, Sidi Mohammed Ben Houcine ben Choïb, known as Abou Dakhil, came from Zemmoura (Relizane) and settled at the Ksar of Rba. When he died around 1565, his son Sidi Mohammed Lokmane bought the ksar of Aïn-Sefra and a strip of land of several hundred hectares from the Béni-Amer who moved to settle around Sidi Bel-Abbès.

This dissertation was carried out in the History Postgraduate Programme at the Fluminense Federal University, with the support of the National Research Council, through the master's scholarship awarded to the first place in Contemporary History II in the 2017 selection process. It narrates a relationship between culture and society that has been historically constructed in the city of Paraty. The relationship between the Paraty International Literary Festival and the José Kleber Cultural Silo Institute. What I'm trying to develop in my research is an analysis of the formation of the caiçara identity in Paraty. This identity is constructed as cultural resistance to the movement of expropriation and transformation of the common territorial space. My historical research brings new insights to the analysis of the circulation of knowledge agents involved in the process, providing unpublished audiovisual documents. These documents were collected over the course of a ten-year partnership as a documentary filmmaker with the José Kleber Cultural Silo Institute in Paraty.

This book is the result of research carried out during my master's degree in History at UNIOESTE. Its source and object are the magazines Nova Cosmopolitan and Playboy from the 1970s. Through a qualitative study, the discourses of Nova and Playboy on beauty, sensuality, sexuality and behaviour were analysed in order to understand how these two magazines gave meaning to gender identities.Nova Cosmopolitan wrote for women who were entering the labour market and were single, it tried to show that maintaining a lasting relationship with a fixed partner and building a solid career were synonymous with fulfilment, it taught how women should take care of their beauty and maintain a certain conduct in their relationships. Playboy was aimed at single men who sought pleasure as a way of life. Its pages featured information on sex and relationships and how men could overcome their insecurities in order to win over women. Sensuality was the characteristic valued by both, as they created idealised images of male and female bodies.

The work studies and comments on the cultural relations between South America and the Arab countries, particularly Peru. Starting from the Conquest, which brought with it the contributions of al-Andalus to Spanish culture, to the arrival of the Levantine migratory waves that set foot on American soil in the middle of the 19th century and continued throughout the 20th century. This fruitful contact contributed to American cultural diversity and these immigrants achieved levels of integration that are especially successful in light of what is now happening with migratory movements in Europe and other latitudes. In times of sectarianism, intolerance and various forms of rejection of otherness, it is worthwhile to dwell on these experiences. The author has published numerous books, articles and essays on the subject. One of the most outstanding is "Memorias de Cedro y Olivo" (FECP. Lima 2005 and 2011) partially translated into Arabic and French.

The sources used include primary accounts from indigenous voices, colonial records, and scholarly works on colonialism, cultural studies, and postcolonial theory.

Sefevid Iran was a constant focus of attention for Europeans, especially the French of the XV¿¿th century. In this book, we have studied Iranian society according to the travel accounts of the traveler-traders named Jean Chardin and Jean-Baptiste Tavernier, as these two travel accounts are considered true resources of Sefevid Iran. Fascinated by the strangeness and diversity of manners and customs, the two great travel writers gave marvellous images of the country in the Sefevid era after their long stay. We have meticulously described Sefevid Iran from the point of view of these two travelers, from various political, social, religious, cultural and historical aspects, such as the state, the public, religions, beliefs, festivals and the country's artistic and architectural flourishing.

Considering theoretical content from Gilles Lipovetsky and Jean Serroy (2001), Peter Burke (2006), Maurice Halbwachs (2004), Nestor Garcia Canclini (2013) and Mario Vargas Llosa (2012), the research topic covers studies on memory, culture, globalization and cultural hybridity, in order to debate whether the media and design can contribute to the preservation of an intangible heritage of a regional culture, specifically the "redendê" embroidery technique. The research is based on the "Fusions and Insertions" project, developed by the Institute for Research in Technology and Innovation (IPTI) in 2014, which invited designers Fernando and Humberto Campana to interact with embroiderers from Entremontes (Alagoas), who preserve their centuries-old "redendê" embroidery technique. The Campana brothers' design proposal was to innovate the "redendê" embroidery and create a new functionality for the final product. They then created lamps that they called "Illuminated Portraits", because the faces of the embroiderers themselves were embroidered on them. These lamps were exhibited in Rio de Janeiro during the 2016 Olympics, and in Milan during the world's largest furniture fair, Salone dei Mobile, in 2017.

Ist die Frühe Neuzeit ein Geschöpf des Kalten Kriegs? Wie war die Vorstellung von Neuzeit und Antike zur Zeit Ludwigs XIV.? Gibt es globale Frühe Neuzeiten? - Epochenbildung gilt gemeinhin als eine der zentralen Aufgaben jeder disziplinären Historiographie. Wenn auch der Begriff der epoché im eigentlichen Sinne die Schwelle zwischen Zeiten, den Übergang, das temporale Dazwischen meint, erscheinen Epochen im heutigen Gebrauch als weitgehend epistemisch bestimmte, scheinbar homogene Entitäten in der Einteilung eines an sich indistinkt fortwährenden physischen Zeitablaufs. Dabei fungieren sie, seien ihre Bezeichnungen geistesgeschichtlich, teleologisch oder selbst auch nur numerisch geprägt, vornehmlich als pragmatische Etikettierungen, bequeme Referenzschemata oder auch als bloße umbrella terms zur Bezeichnung einer zwar oftmals unmittelbar durch den Verweis auf die Gleichzeitigkeit des Ungleichzeitigen wieder aufgehobenen, gleichwohl durchweg behaupteten, wo nicht gewähnten Einheit. Die Zusammenführung der Wolfenbütteler Arbeitskreise zur Renaissance- und Barockforschung im neu gegründeten Arbeitskreis Frühneuzeitforschung dokumentiert die nochmalige Reflexion auf das schwierige Geschäft eines Bezeichnens von Zeiten.

Cultural memory is an important factor to build cultural identity in the present (Rosas, 2008), which is why the representation of the typical costume of the characters "Coraza" and "Chaqui Capitán" and its exhibition in public events, allows to promote the culture and tradition of the province of Imbabura. The representation of the characters "Coraza" and "Chaqui Capitán", through the design and elaboration of the "giants" is an alternative to promote and transmit the indigenous culture of the province of Imbabura to the general public.

A brief historical sketch of Nalgonda district is presented essentially in relation to Political history of the dynasties that ruled over the Nalgonda district is being narrated here as is widely known inscriptions form the basic source. Material for the reconstruction of the history for any part of this Nalgonda and so is the case with Andhra also. The earliest epigraphs discovered as yet in the region in study are of the great emperor Asoka (3rd c-B.C) However, they are not of any help to the present study. After the Decline of the Mauryan empire the Satavahanas ruled over extensive part of the Deccan for a few countries. The Satavahanas for the sake of Administrative Convenience divided the Kingdom into various provinces, rasthras.It is interesting to note that some of the epithets of the Chola Monarchs were given as second names to the towns in chased in the Vengi Country. After the decline of the Chalukyas, Pallavas, Rasthra kutas and the Kakatiya Kingdom sheld sway over the Nalgonda district. The Kakatiya rulers are known to have cleared of forests and established villages. A few epigraphical references to the villages named after the Kakatiya Ganapati.

The Museum of the City of Rio Grande was founded in 1984 with the aim of preserving the city's historical memory. It was divided into two collections: the Historical Collection and the Sacred Art Collection. A study was then carried out into new exhibition furniture, investigating the materials used to build up the collection, their state of conservation and also the most suitable materials for building the display cases.

Urban civilization in Sub-Saharan Africa is essentially cultural, and its exploratory context is the product of the anteriority of empirical mutations in processual history. This age-old metamorphosis is worth its golden present in the dialectic of human prowess. From hybrid hamlets to illuminated forests, Abong-Mbang lies at the heart of structural dynamics and reconfigurations, the necessity of which abounds in an institutional imperative. Indeed, with its rich cultural diversity and strategic position as a crossroads town, Abong-Mbang is the "Tower of Babel" of the Rising Sun region, offering collective memory the first verse in the founding of Cameroon as a "nation-state". The author of this opuscule invites us to revisit the concept of the urban and its appropriation in the image of Abong-Mbang.

It's true, we may not all be Napoleon with a mausoleum marking our greatness, but we can all have a Facebook wall, a Twitter profile or an Instagram account... most importantly, dozens, hundreds or thousands of followers.That's where this phenomenon called Influencers begins. They are opinion leaders, they have a presence in our lives at different times and to different degrees. However, they are not all the same, that is where this essay appears reflecting on the sociocultural profile of the unconventional Influencer, a concept proposed here to explain the phenomenon of certain figures of the Mexican social networks (with presence in Spanish-speaking countries). This profile is based on the concepts: the bald, the naco, kitsch aesthetics and covert narcissism.

In the development of the gastronomic origin of the territory of western Paraná, he discovered that the main subject was the Guarani Indian who, due to the colonization suffered by the Iberian conquerors and consequently the refuge of the Jesuit priests, transformed his universe into missionary. Cultures and social adaptations and especially the formation of the territory designed the food culture of today. This work makes an approach to the geographical territorialities of the main cities of western Paraná, and presents the relationship of cultural hybridism suffered throughout history, and shows the importance of relations between the subjects involved in social conflicts and migrations, time for survival or economic reasons. Faced with the complexity that involves cultural geography, this work goes from the empirical presented by the municipal festivities to the brief report in the specific bibliography, reaching the actuality of the gastronomic origin and its representativeness of the territory of western Paraná.

What is the point of publishing in the humanities? This Element provides an answer to this question. It builds on a unique set of quantitative and qualitative data to understand why humanities scholars publish. It looks at both basic characteristics such as publication numbers, formats, and perceptions, and differences of national academic settings alongside the influences of the UK's Research Excellence Framework and the German Exzellenzinitiative. The data involve a survey of more than 1,000 humanities scholars and social scientists in the UK and Germany, allowing for a comprehensive comparative study, and a series of qualitative interviews. The resulting critique provides scholars and policy makers with an accessible and critical work about the particularities of authorship and publishing in the humanities. And it gives an account of the problems and struggles of humanities scholars in their pursuit of contributing to discourse, and to be recognised with their intellectual work.
