The burden of achieving gender equality is typically placed on women, limiting men'sinvolvement in the movement. In contrast to work focusing on women's experiences as targets ofdiscrimination, we propose a solidarity-based approach positioning men and women as agents ofchange, which relies on two key processes: leadership - particularly leadership as a form ofinfluence based on shared identities among leaders and followers; and political solidarity as a wayto mobilise the silent majority (men) to work as allies beside a minority (women) and embraceequality as a common cause for both groups.This thesis examines how to mobilise a broader audience for gender equality, and howleadership and social identity dynamics affect that mobilisation. Three empirical programs(totalling six experiments) investigate how best to increase women's and men's support forequality. Key independent variables of interest are leader gender, message framing, and socialidentity. Program 1 examines whether solidarity-based frames are more effective than traditionalframes which focus on either fixing (Experiment 1; N = 338) or blaming women (Experiment 2;N = 336). Program 2 investigates how emphasising different levels of subgroup andsuperordinate identities (Experiment 3; N = 251; Experiment 4; N = 319) affects men'smobilisation. Program 3 investigates whether positioning men as being responsible for genderinequality (Experiment 5; N = 258), or being fellow victims of gender inequality (Experiment 6;N = 543) affects their mobilisation.

¿This open access book explores how legal proceedings in and out-of-court can be matched to the complex problems underlying disputes concerning child custody, residence and contact between parents. It focusses in particular on Nordic experiences of in and out-of-court mechanisms as means of resolving custody disputes. The contributors are internationally renowned and experienced researchers from the legal, psychological, and sociological fields who provide empirical as well as legal perspectives. They examine central legal, ethical and knowledge-based dilemmas in custody dispute proceedings. The findings speak to an international audience and suggest ways how to best realize the interests of the child. This book critically examines the development of the 'stirring up hatred' offences which are currently found within the UK's Public Order Act 1986. Through a critical discourse analysis of key excerpts of parliamentary Hansard, the book constructs a detailed genealogy of the offences from the perspectives that shaped them. A novel application of theory on 'myth' is used to navigate the complex arguments and to trace ideas about identity and order across parliamentary debates, from fears of Fascism in the 1930s to condemnations of homophobia in the early 21st century. The story of the stirring up hatred offences told in this book therefore extends far beyond the traditional frame of a dilemma between regulating hate speech and safeguarding free speech: it is inextricably entwined with myths about law, race and national identity, and speaks to wider themes of coloniality, neoliberalism, white entitlement, British-Christian exceptionalism and the innocence of law. Written in an accessible and engaging style, this book challenges a wide range of assumptions about hate speech law and raises a series of considerations for developing forms of accountability that are less complicit in the harms that they are supposed to redress.

This descriptive qualitative study delves into the often-overlooked realm of sexual safety in nightlife settings, amplifying the voices of gender and sexuality minorities. With a focus on identity-specific experiences, needs, and ideas, the research challenges the predominant narrative centered on cisgender heterosexual individuals. Through semi-structured interviews with 40 gender and sexuality minority participants engaged in New York City nightlife, a nuanced understanding of sexual safety emerges.

One of the constitutional obligations of states is the defence of human rights. Such state activities encompass providing free pre-litigation legal aid. In search for solutions allowing to improve Polish model, the authors employed a comparative method. As a result, they analysed solutions adopted in international law, Sweden, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom.Swedish law is an example of a system with a rich legislative history in the area of free legal aid and contemporary solutions based on the model of legal aid with a ¿discount¿. The choice of Ukraine was based on the fact that its regulations are very modern, elastic and put to the ultimate test of war. The United Kingdom was chosen as an example of a country with a common law system, where pre-litigation-free legal aid has its unique form based on grant financing.In the summary of the book, the authors strive for presenting the proposal of a model of free pre-litigation legal aid for the polish legal system based on the experience of compared legal systems.

Die Untersuchung beschäftigt sich mit der Notwendigkeit sowie der Entwicklung eines materiell- und verfahrensrechtlichen Konzepts zum Schutz der Testierfreiheit vor Drittbeeinflussung bei insbesondere altersbedingt typischen Gefährdungslagen. Schutzgegenstand bilden (noch) testierfähige Erblasser, welche aufgrund gesundheits- oder situationsbedingter Umstände an gewissen Widerstands- oder Rationalitätsdefiziten leiden und sich daher willensgeschwächt sowie verstärkt suggestibel gegenüber subtilem Beeinflussungsverhalten Dritter zeigen. Der Autor kommt zu dem Ergebnis, dass ein entsprechendes Schutzkonzept de lege lata durch eine richterliche Rechtsfortbildung anhand einer speziellen Abschlusskontrolle nach § 138 Abs. 1 BGB gewährleistet werden kann. Hierfür wird ein Konzept vorgeschlagen, welches sowohl in materieller als auch in prozessualer Hinsicht ein gesamtheitliches bewegliches System des Erblasserautonomieschutzes gewährleistet.

This book deals with consensual mechanisms in criminal proceedings analyzed comparatively. In the first place, it addresses the common systemic foundations of consensual mechanisms and the observation of most up-to-date supranational trends in their development. In the second place, it presents phenomenon of negotiated justice outside the common law systems through examples of Poland, Germany and Brazil. The combination of these two approaches provides a good basis for observation on the general advantages and disadvantages of negotiated justice. It also helps for balancing the optimal extensiveness of its use in the contemporary criminal proceedings.
