Tales from ancient times are a collection of folktales in the style of folk tales that Rebbi Nachman of Breslov told to his students. His prominent student Rebbi Natan of Breslov recorded and published them. It is customary to think that there is a gothic and Kabbalistic dimension to these stories, and they differ in style and essence from the rest of the parables and stories told by Rebbi Nachman, which appear in his writings and the writings of his disciples.One should know that these stories have deep secrets, blessed is he who gets to understand them. Rebbi Nachman paved new ways in Chassidot. He emphasized the value of prayer, solitude, innocence and simple faith. Rebbi Nacham taught avoidance of philosophical inquiry, even though at the end of his life he befriended the educated Jews who lived in the city of Uman. It is a great mitzvah to always be happy. There is no despair in the world at all.

Wien wurde vor dem Ersten Weltkrieg zu einem Zentrum jüdischer Konvertiten, wobei die Schottenpfarre zur größten und bedeutendsten katholischen Konvertitenpfarre wurde. Später prominente Vertreter aus Kunst, Kultur und Wissenschaft konvertierten hier. Doch über die näheren Umstände und Motive, welche zur Taufe führten, ist nur wenig bekannt, kaum mehr als: jüdisch geboren, irgendwann, irgendwo getauft und katholisch beerdigt. Aufschluß hierüber geben jedoch die Matriken. Taufmatriken enthalten eine Fülle an Informationen zum Konvertiten, zu seinen Eltern, mit den Taufpaten auch zu seinem Freundeskreis. Zudem wurde hier auch eine unmittelbar nach der Taufe erfolgte Trauung vermerkt, wie auch ein Namenswechsel, auf welchen man mit der Taufe einen rechtlichen Anspruch hatte. All diese Angaben und Daten haben wir unabhängig vom Alter, Stand und Geburtsort der Konvertiten im Datenteil in editionsnaher Form erfasst und mit weiteren Quellen und Hinweisen ergänzt, welche im Textteil ausgewertet wurden. Biographen und Genealogen werden im Datenteil fündig werden, Sozialhistoriker im Textteil, insbesondere in den Übersichten zu prominenten Konvertiten und ihren Taufpaten einerseits, zu prominenten Taufpaten und ihren Konvertiten andererseits.
