The purpose of this book is to show the historical, doctrinal and prophetic relationship between the Old and the New Testament. The conclusion is that in its essence, from Genesis to Malachi, the Old Testament is a foreshadowing of the New Testament. The theme of the entire Bible is God's desire to have a relationship with us. In the Old Testament God prepares a people through whom a Messiah will come. In the New Testament, that desire and plan are fulfilled in the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. To simplify it further, the theme of the Old Testament is The Messiah is coming, bringing Salvation. The theme of the New Testament is The Messiah is here, bringing Salvation! Topics covered:Historical PrefiguresPrefigures of the MessiahThe Earthly and Heavenly TabernacleThe Old and New Covenant PriesthoodsThe Mosaic Covenant Prefigures the New CovenantOld Testament Sacrifice Points to New Testament SacrificeProphecies in the Old Testament Predict events in the Life of JesusOld Testament Prophecies Predict the Coming of the Kingdom of God

This anthology presents a collaborative interrogation at the intersection of feminist biblical studies and biblical masculinity studies. The included essays make a compelling case for both feminist and masculist readers to recognize the advantage of engaging with each other. As they join forces, they produce research that not only brings female characters, gender issues or queer interpretation histories to the forefront but also interrogates critically male characters as well as androcentric and heteronormative conventions, viewpoints and norms. Connections to geopolitical, ethno-religious and other intersectional issues are part and parcel of the diverse range of approaches. As a whole, then, the book expands the scholarly discourse from essentializing attention on 'women' or 'men' to a multifaceted (de)construction of gender that exposes gendered structures of domination in comprehensive ways. The shared goal is to halt reactionarygender discourses and to foster intersectional comprehension of texts and scholarship. Theoretical, historical, contemporary and textual considerations underscore the methodological, hermeneutical and exegetical value of this kind of work. The volume is organized into three main parts. First, 'Theoretical Considerations', presents two essays illuminating meta-level assumptions and developments when biblical scholars embrace the interrelationship of feminist and masculinity studies in their work. Second, 'Historical and Contemporary Considerations', contains three essays examining the Bible in past and present cultural contexts. Third, 'Textual Considerations', features four essays focusing on specific passages with lenses informed by masculinity and feminist studies. All nine essays, and the three responses addressing them, invite readers to understand, critique and interrupt phallogocentric assumptions in texts, interpretation histories, and research of the Hebrew Bible.

For many years, Fr. Alfonso Gálvez has written numerous poems, whose beauty sets them among the classics of Spanish mystical poetry during the Golden Age. Many of them have been inserted into his varied works, but never had they been gathered together as a whole. In the year 2009, most of his poems were brought together in his book The Lost Songs (2009), but soon this edition fell out of favor with the author. In the year 2013, this work Florilegio made its appearance, in which the poems present in The Lost Songs are referred to, with the modest purpose of commenting on some of the stanzas from the point of view of human-divine Love, Joy, Hope, and nostalgia for the beloved. In 2016, the greater part of his poetic work, revised and enhanced, would be published in the work Cantos del Final del Camino (2016). Poetry is the art that expresses Beauty through words, whether it is by the use of verse or prose. This is the fundamental thesis of Fr. Alfonso Gálvez, as stated in the "Introduction" to his work Florilegio. In turn, Beauty is one of the transcendentals of Being, together with Goodness, Unity, and Truth. And since Being is identified with God, the highest poetry is that which attempts to express the Beauty of God. Putting it thus, Fr. Alfonso Gálvez clearly establishes a distinction between Poetry that expresses the Beauty of God as Love, revealed to us in Jesus Christ (Mystical Poetry), and poetry that is made up of versified words used to encourage devotion and piety in the Christian people, and which has been erroneously titled religious poetry. In the same way, any other method of using verse to express something other than Beauty, be it the beauty of creatures or of the Creator, should never be called poetry, as often occurs with those who would use it for political or social ends. Ultimately, "whatever presents itself as Poetry, but is devoid of content, either because it says nothing, or because it lacks beauty, in reality has little to do with what might be considered as a product of the Muses of Poetry".

During COVID-19, many members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints were shocked to have their church leaders encouraging them to take the COVID-19 vaccine. Some questioned the faith of those who would not take the vaccine; others accused any who spoke against the vaccine of promoting apostasy. Some questioned their own faith when confronted with their prophet promoting what they saw as a lie. Still, others took the vaccine even against their better judgment, believing God would not hold them responsible for the damage it caused if they followed the prophet's counsel.By teaching lies, the president of the Church fulfilled the prophet Isaiah's prophecy in the Old Testament, accompanied by many other leaders worldwide. Avoiding the vaccine was not only the right and privilege of every member but standing for truth is precisely what the Lord has called those loyal to Him to do, both in and outside the Church. The Book of Mormon records that more part of the righteous were seduced to believe in the works of the Gadianton Robbers and thus partook in their spoils. This book documents how that same process occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic. It also witnesses that none need question their faith in God, the Book of Mormon, the restoration of the Church, or their own membership, but rather invigorates all to remain faithful to the purposes of the Lord and stand for truth at all times and all places.

In this book Dr. Amelia Spivak uncovers a type of tannaitic argument that was lost: neither traditional nor academic scholars seem to have known of its existence. The author finds examples scattered across the range of tannaitic literature - including in well-trodden passages - suggesting that such argumentation was widely practiced. Spivak identifies a signaling Hebrew phrase, o'kheiluf, along with accompanying expressions as uniquely tannaitic logical terminology. The author lays bare how this precise tannaitic logic - none of which appears to be of Greek or Roman origin - operates and how it relates to the contrapositive. The o'kheiluf argument is shown to betray blanket ignorance of both Aristotelian and Stoic logic. The author offers reasons for why this form of argument died out in amoraic times. This book also serves as a persuasive argument for the use of modern logic as a tool for historical and literary investigations of rabbinic texts. Spivak identifies logical differences in the o'kheiluf arguments in the Midrash Halakhah of the R. Ishmael and R. Akiva schools and uses those as markers for attributing school affiliation to particular passages where authorship is contested. Using her study of the o'kheiluf the author is able to clarify a famously puzzling Mishnah, one that mystified the Bavli and Yerushalmi and even later commentaries on the Talmuds. Spivak also unravels what a popular passage in the Yerushalmi is really busy with when it tries to prove, contrary to the Torah, that a reptile is pure. She shows that this passage and its analog in the Bavli have been incorrectly understood and require the logic she exposes in the o'kheiluf argument for a proper rendering.

"Fr Marc's collection of sermons gives us an image of the Middle Eastern priest-it is a priesthood not about him, but about his commitment to the body of Christ. These sermons and writings expose the 'fantasy of suburban bliss' that underlies all of our religious commodification-our main and only reference as North Americans-and bring us to the main point of Scripture: God doesn't need me, he doesn't need you; we need his teaching." - Rev. Dr. Harrison Russin, Assistant Professor of Liturgical Music, St. Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary."Fr. Marc's vibrant voice, seasoned and full of knowledge, opens our senses to life, family, and community. Through his Biblical mindset, reflected in his detailed reading of the original text, messages of old reemerge at the edge of this distorted and convulsed world, coming alive and beckoning the reader to wide-open vistas of light and hope." Dr. Daniel A. Ayuch, Professor of New Testament, University of Balamand in Lebanon"Fire gives light and provides warmth, but fire also burns. Just ask a child after they touch a hot stove! Father Marc's sermon collection is like fire. It sheds light on the centrality of God's saving Word to his people, but if you're not careful, it will also burn you! Take and read these much-needed words for the Church today." V. Rev. Dr. William C. Mills, Orthodox priest and author of Losing My Religion: A Memoir of Faith and Finding"These dark sayings are hard and raw and perplexing, not unlike the Scriptures from which they emerge. They invite the reader to grapple with the Word of God, like Jacob, who wrestled through the dark of night (Genesis 32:24). The reader who perseveres until the breaking of the day is likely to be wounded by the encounter and yet receive a profound blessing." V. Rev.
