The full collection of conference talks from Pope Francis's appointed retreat master, Timothy Radcliffe, heard first during the historic October 2023 General Assembly of the Synod on Synodality. The Synod on Synodality held in Rome in October 2023, gathered Catholics from all over the world to listen, pray, and reflect on a new way of being church. Dominican priest Timothy Radcliffe, the official retreat master and spiritual advisor for this assembly, was appointed by Pope Francis to deliver a series of retreat talks and meditations to the delegates during the assembly of the Synod on Synodality. Those talks are offered here, as well as Radcliffe's further reflections on our current challenges and where we could be headed as a church. He then provides a specific Dominican experience as an example of synodality-in-action. In¿Listening Together,¿Radcliffe's words not only set the spirit for the historic synod gathering, but now, in written form, they open the possibility for individuals or groups to read and continue to reflect on this synodal journey we all share. Listening Together¿serves as a powerful reminder of the themes of enduring relevance included in Radcliffe's retreat talks and synod meditations. In entertaining and engaging prose, Radcliffe's reflections encourage readers to think about conflicting hopes; different visions of the church as home; the need for unity; friendship; and above all, the importance of listening, discernment, and mission as a means for this synodal journey to continue to succeed. In these pages, Radcliffe offers a "spirituality of listening" that can take us forward together on a journey of discovery and communion.

"This beautifully written memoir is for anyone who has walked a hard road and wondered how to get to the other side. Stephanie Duncan Smith promises that it's not through grit and force that you will find a way forward, but through leaning in to the promises that hold true when all seems lost. Duncan Smith's personal disorientation began when she lost her first pregnancy on the winter solstice's longest night, just as the world readied to celebrate its most historic birth on Christmas. Then a new yet uncertain pregnancy unfolded in parallel to the global pandemic, until one year nearly to the day of her loss, she gave birth to her daughter whose birthday marked the peak of pandemic death in their city. This clash prompted a desperate search for steadiness, in which the liturgical year became an anchoring force. In Even After Everything, Duncan Smith looks to the church's calendar as a way of finding and reorienting ourselves within the sacred story of Advent, Epiphany, Lent, Holy Week, and Ordinary Time. The Christian year illuminates a full circle of love, loss, and liminality, holding space for the full spectrum of the human experience. At its heart lives the promise of God-With-Us, inviting us into the spiritual practice of living well by accepting that there is a time for everything, and trusting that in whatever moment we find ourselves, we are never truly alone"--
Healthy tension: Jesus wants to help you find it and live in it.Tension is tough. We don't like it. We try to avoid it. Whether we feel it in a family relationship, a situation at work, or our online interactions, rarely do any of us walk away feeling like it was a win-win. Pastor Jeremy Yancey would like to change that. In his book Good in Tension, he proposes that tension is actually a good thing. It's what makes a guitar sing and provides stable footing for a tightrope walker. A lack of tension, or tension deficit, is where problems actually occur. Without healthy tension, we swing to extremes. On our own, we're prone to extreme reactions to the storms and chaos of life. Let Jesus speak peace in the midst of your storm as you explore what it looks like to stand your ground and be:Focused yet FlexibleHopeful and RealisticConfident and HumbleCandid yet KindJesus is always inviting us back to a centered, surrendered trust in Him. Lean on Him and not your own understanding, and He'll recalibrate your tension deficit.

Livet er et magisk eventyr. H.C.
Intolerance of different religions, miscommunication, and bigotry. It doesn't have to be this way. A global revolution is emerging - interfaith. In an increasingly politically and religiously fragmented world, a number of adherents of different faiths have realised the necessity of global interfaith connection and communication.Quiet Revolution investigates this important growing phenomenon. Over the last fifteen years or so there has been a worldwide mushrooming of organisations to promote international interfaith dialogue and understanding. Quiet Revolution introduces the basis for this developing interfaith movement - the desire for communication and understanding between different faiths, from Christian to Muslim to Buddhist and beyond. travelling from the most multi-religious society in the world - and the home of many interfaith communities - New York, the ABC's Peter Kirkwood investigates this global movement and the communities and individuals that are driving its growth. Quiet Revolution is being written concurrently with the filming and production of an important three-part ABC television documentary series of the same name to be screened as the book is being published.
"An empowering 60-day devotional guiding readers to experience the bold and confident trust that comes from sitting at the feet of Jesus-from the Grammy Award winner, Billboard Gospel Artist of the Decade, and author of Do It Anyway"--
GOD ACTUALLY is a highly original and eclectic book about Christianity, covering a wide range of subjects. Williams doesn't preach to the converted or attempt to browbeat sceptics. Instead, he persuades using rational argument drawn from non-religious sources: physics, chemistry and biology; politics, history and sociology; music, novels, poetry and film. In part the book is a counter to the recent bestsellers by atheists like Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens and Sam Harris, and shows that belief in Christianity can and should be based on logical deductions from known facts. It is not a matter of ignorant superstition or blind faith.

A guidebook on how to live the Trappist charism outside a monastic enclosure.Endorsements"Michael Downey's theological depth enriches, his poetic prose inspires, his prayer pulses through these pages. Every word, each finely chiseled cameo evokes silence, sobriety, and solidarity in everything."--Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle, Vatican Dicastery for Evangelization"This slim volume offers a balm for today's frenetic and disconnected soul. An astute cultural observer, Downey shines a revealing light on the 'magnificent distractions' that can impede the spiritual life even as his poetic sensibility draws us ever more deeply into the art of living prayerfully. We are in the safe hands of a wise and perceptive spiritual master."--Richard R. Gaillardetz, Boston College"A guidebook on how to live the Trappist charism outside a monastic enclosure. It was in many ways Charles de Foucauld's own calling. Sobriety healed his soul, silence opened him to the mystery, and solidarity led him to encounter the God who calls us his brothers and sisters. As Michael Downey points out, the three are not signposts to perfection but to increasing our desire for that in which our hearts can rest."--Little Sister Kathleen of JesusDr. Michael Downey has served as professor of theology and spirituality at universities and seminaries in North America and abroad. Author or editor of more than twenty books over the course of an academic career spanning more than forty years, he has remained active in working with enclosed contemplative monks and nuns. Discover a rich legacy of audacious women who forged a spirituality that is more inclusive, surprising, and empowering than we ever imagined.“The feminist reading of women mystics I’ve wanted for ages . . . invites us into the hopeful possibility for communal healing that we desperately need right now.”—Sarah Bessey, bestselling author of Field Notes for the Wilderness and Jesus FeministIs there a Christian spirituality that embraces the entire reality of womanhood? The answer, Shannon K. Evans suggests, is an emphatic yes. There is a spirituality that meets us in every part of our lives, developed by the women who came before us. Six mystics—Teresa of Ávila, Margery Kempe, Hildegard of Bingen, Julian of Norwich, Catherine of Siena, and Thérèse of Lisieux—revealed a faith big enough to hold the female experiences of sex and desire, the yearning for bodily autonomy, the challenges of motherhood and identity, as well as life with male authority and—sometimes—violence. These women, self-determining, stubborn, and unapologetically themselves, asked questions in their time that are startlingly prescient today, and fought for women’s experiences to be heard, understood, respected, and recognized as holy.In The Mystics Would Like a Word, readers will discover the story of Christian faith and spirituality as told by these extraordinary and wise women, one that speaks directly to today’s unique experiences, and leads to wholeness, healing, and spiritual vitality.

This book of spiritual thoughts is inspired by my daily devotional time with God. He has been my spiritual alarm clock for years. My Wake time usually starts around 2:30 a.m., sometimes a little later. It's that quiet, alone time I read His Word, and he speaks to me. He says to write it down and pass it on. So here are His Words coupled with my thoughts. Let them bless you as they have blessed me. Barbara Gholston is a mother of one daughter, a grandmother of two, and a great-grandmother of three. She is a retired Air Force Master Sergeant who served her country for 24 years, traveling all over the world. She also recently retired from serving the American people as an employee of the Social Security Administration. She now lives in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, where she is a dedicated member of Ekklesia Ministries.

"You can't drive at highway speed in first gear, and you can't live at the speed of destiny in the first gear of grace."When you shift through the gears of a vehicle there is tension felt when you reach each gear's speed limit. Using that as a metaphor, Landen identifies six 'gears of grace' or revelations of the nature of God's grace, along with the tension that one feels when one reaches the speed limit of that revelation. He then identifies the 'clutch' or discipline of a disciple necessary to relieve that tension, allowing for the 'shift into a new gear' to grow as a disciple. One's maturity in Christ is proportionate to the revelation of God's grace they live in.
