Revival and Awakenings volumes one and two explore what a true revival and a spiritual awakening is. Prophetically, it delves into what God has been saying for a long time, which is that the Lord will sweep the earth with a revival in the end times which will ignite many followers with His holy fire. What will this revival look like? This is the big question, and one would rather say it will not be a singular event, but a sequence of Godly movements across the globe that will be infectious, contagious and real. In an awakening, the Holy Spirit gives unbelieving people - who are dead in their trespasses and sins - a new awareness of their needs. A revival is connected to the people of God and it is when those who are in churches - those who are professing believers - are ministered to by the Holy Spirit in such a way that they are renewed in their devotion to the Lord. The time is ripe for the one final great harvest, yet this calls for the revived church, full of the fire of the Holy Spirit, to go into the fields, to awaken the lost and the forgotten and broken, and to bring them into the loving embrace of a God who is full of compassion, grace and mercy. This is the time of spiritual latter rains, and now is the time to welcome the embrace of a God who is real, alive, and who calls us all into His arms to reflect His beauty and greatness. It is not God's Will that any soul He created should perish, but that all men should come to the knowledge of God and be saved. God calls on all believers to cast their net in the deep for the harvest of souls.
The year 2021 marked the five-hundredth anniversary of Christianity in the Philippines. With over 90% of the Filipin@s (Filipino/as) in the country and more than eight million around the world identifying as Christian, they are a significant force reshaping global Christianity. The fifth centenary called for celebration, reflection, and critique. This book represents the voices of theologians in the Philippines, the United States, Australia, and around the world examining Christianity in the Philippines through a postcolonial theological lens that suggests the desire to go beyond the colonial in all its contemporary manifestations. Part 1, ¿Rethinking the Encounters,¿ focuses on introducing the context of Christianity¿s arrival in the archipelago and its effect on its peoples. Part 2, ¿Reappropriation, Resistance, and Decolonization,¿ grapples with the enduring presence of coloniality in Filipin@ religious practices. It also celebrates the ways Christianity has been critically and creatively reimagined.
How can we understand and respond to past and present entanglements of Christianity with colonisation? What kinds of theological perspectives and approaches are needed in the wake of colonisation and its impact? Unsettling Theologies includes responses to these questions from Aboriginal, M¿ori, Pasifika and White scholars.
Remembering our own mortality is an invaluable practice that produces great spiritual reward. Such meditation prepares us for the ultimate event: our entrance into eternity."Remember, O mortal, that you are dust, and to dust, you shall return."Throughout history, many souls, upon meditating on their mortality, have forsaken the temporary pleasures of this world. Through contemplating death, numerous individuals have conquered the desires of the flesh. It is through the meditation on death that many have ascended the ladder of holiness.Keeping the reality of death constantly before our eyes is one of the greatest secrets to sanctity, as death is the only certainty in this existence. Those who daily ponder the approaching hour of their death will not be caught off guard when that moment arrives. Instead, they will have spent their entire lives in preparation, ready to meet their Creator."Meditations on Death" serves as a poignant reminder of the brevity of our earthly journey and the paramount importance of living with an eternal perspective. It invites readers to cultivate purity of mind, embrace the cross of Christ, and place their hope and trust in God alone. Through these meditations, Thomas à Kempis illuminates the path to preparing our souls for the eternity that awaits us.
Pilgrimage is the most essential of medieval studies - that's a conclusion which Tim Porter has drawn from years of reading, research and exploration. Religion, politics, economics, travel, industry, art, architecture - pilgrimage opens into all these fields, and many more! And it cuts across classes and genders like nothing else, because nobody could be denied the vocation, if it was held to be genuine.Scores of places had some kind of pilgrimage attached to them: but the Gloucestershire/Worcestershire region was especially rich, with a host of saints and shrines reflecting every aspect of the ethos. Hailes and Winchcombe in particular offer in a nutshell so much of what we need to know.
This book comprises an expository and experiential study of Psalm 73 focussing on how the Christian believer can deal with doubts and distresses in the Christian life. The Rev. Gordon Keddie (1944-2023) was a prolific author of popular evangelical and reformed expository commentaries on various Old Testament and New Testament Scripture books, as well as other doctrinal and historical works and magazine articles. A Scot by birth and background, Gordon Keddie was a minister after 1974 in the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America in congregations in Pittsburgh, State College, and Indianapolis. This book on Psalm 73 is the last book which he completed before his passing in May 2023.
John 3:16 is perhaps the best known verse in the entire Bible. In this short book, the author focuses on the word 'world' in the verse which is the focus of debate between Arminians who believe the world referred to meaning everyone without exception and Calvinists who tend to view the world as meaning everyone without distinction. The author takes a Calvinist viewpoint and believes that the 'world' of John 3:16 is a general, indefinite term meaning 'sinners from all the nations,' while also maintaining that this 'world' consists only of those who are saved, here designated 'everyone who believes' and elsewhere identified as God's elect. In the book, the author discusses the problems with the Arminian viewpoint and the strengths of the Calvinist view. The book is enhanced by a large number of relevant Scripture verses and references and by quotations from Calvinist thinkers from John Calvin and John Knox through to the present day. The author is from Glasgow, Scotland and writes out of the Scottish Presbyterian and Reformed traditions in which he has been steeped for over thirty years as a Christian and teacher of Christian doctrines.
The Glorious Future is about the Biblical doctrine of the Last Things. It concerns prophetic truths from both the Old Testament and the New Testament which shed light on the rule of Christ in history and of His coming again at the end of the world. In that connection it deals with the implications of death, judgment, heaven and hell. The author provides a brief interpretation of the book of Revelation and addresses the question of the nature of the Millennium and its significance. This is a brief but lucid study of Biblical teaching which brings out the practical and spiritual importance of readiness for death and the coming again of the Lord Jesus Christ.

This book is intended for Christian men who want to grow in their faith by understanding, knowing, and applying God's Word to their daily lives. It is a solid exposition of Romans 5-8, in which the apostle Paul sets out the benefits of justification and God's superabounding grace, which include reconciliation, salvation from God's wrath on that Final Judgment Day, eternal life, new life in Christ, serving in the new way of the Spirit, freedom from the old realm of sin and death, and the benefits and blessing of being indwelt by the Spirit. But the thrust of these chapters is God's unstoppable purpose to bring us justified sinners to glory--resurrection bodies on the restored earth with Christ forever. This book is not written by a seminary professor, pastor, or full-time Christian worker. It is written by a businessman to businessmen, as a fellow traveler, who has spent a lifetime immersed in the hurly-burly of the business world. So the application of the exposition directly addresses the issues men in the business world face on a daily basis like greed, pride, sexual temptation, anger, patience, priorities, humility, lying (exaggeration), and perseverance. It is heavy on grace, forgiveness, and restoration. Each chapter can be read in about ten to twelve minutes. Ideal for busy men. Recommend reading one a day for forty days or as part of a men's Bible study group--a chapter or two a week.G. Brian Christie (ThM, Dallas Theological Seminary; JD, University of Texas), a transactional (deal) lawyer, business executive, and company director, has taught men's Bible studies in churches in Texas and California for over the past forty-five years. He is the author of 12 Marks of a Man of God and Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God, an Exposition of the Gospel of Mark for Men.
Finding herself in a terrifying reality of a cancer diagnosis, Christina found her only hope for guidance and healing would be to fully put her trust in God. As he took control of how her treatment plan would go, he also took control of her mental and spiritual well-being, healing her in ways she never knew she could heal. She would use writing to clear her mind of anxiety and try to get much needed rest, but she would ultimately find that through her writing, he was guiding her and teaching her. She knew she would not come out of this the same person she went in, and she used that excitement to motivate her and keep her focused on God's work in her.

The Journey of Redeeming Love has been sitting for a long time. God spoke to Sandee in 2015 when she retired about writing this devotional. She had been through many adventures with the Lord and was looking forward to sharing his thoughts and love. Her husband passed in 2015 and she lost her vision. She had now entered the survival mode the next five years. During these five years she learned to depend on God in a way she never had before. If she went through the fire she never got burnt or as the flood waters tried to consume her, she never drowned. She was on a new journey she had never been on before. For forty-eight years her husband cared for her, now it was the Lord, one hundred percent. God told her it was time to write this devotional and to meet with Him, and He would write it for her. It was amazing to sit with God and watch this devotional come to completion. It's for forty days because "40" means completion and a new season.
This book is intended for Christian men who want to grow in their faith by understanding, knowing, and applying God's Word to their daily lives. It is a fast-paced but solid exposition of the Gospel of Mark.. Mark writes in a no-frills, "just the facts" manner. He records eighteen miracles that Jesus performed--casting out evil spirits, healings, raising the dead, walking on water, feeding the five thousand and the four thousand, calming the storm, and of course, the final and most significant miracle is his resurrection. These all showed that Jesus was indeed the Messiah, the Son of God. And that's good news because if he is truly the Messiah and the Son of God, his death and resurrection were effective to provide forgiveness and eternal salvation to those who believe in him. This book is not written by a seminary professor, pastor, or full-time Christian worker. It is written by a businessman to businessmen as a fellow traveler, who has spent a lifetime immersed in the hurly-burly of the business world. Each chapter can be read in about ten minutes. Ideal for busy men. Recommend reading one a day for twenty-five days or as part of a men's Bible study group--a chapter or two a week.G. Brian Christie (ThM, Dallas Theological Seminary; JD, University of Texas), a transactional ("deal") lawyer, business executive, and company director, has taught men's Bible studies in churches in Texas, California, and Virginia over the past forty-five years. We've all been through difficult situations and most often than not we used colorful phrases such as, "Oh, Cheese and Rice!", "Oh My Goodness!", "F*** My Life!", or "Why Me?!" Admit it you have said something of the sort before, haven't you? Let me ask you this, how many of those moments actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise? How many times were we left wondering why God allows certain circumstances to happen in our lives?Forgiveness, Mercy, Love is a short yet powerful testimonial of God's power and love in the life of one of His creations. Not only will Forgiveness, Mercy, Love leave you feeling uplifted and hopeful in the mighty work of God but it will encourage you during those difficult circumstances to put your faith, your complete trust, in the Redeemer's hands. These so-called "FML" moments don't have to last long, they don't have to be meaningless if you view them through the lens of the Creator.
An excellent reference for the Christian to learn how to live life to the fullest.
About Our Liturgy gives a historical, theological and practical survey of the historic western liturgy of the Divine Service as it is conducted in the Lutheran Church. Written out of a pastoral concern that congregations learn to appreciate not just the aesthetics, but also the profound meaning of liturgical worship, this little book tells how the liturgy proclaims the Gospel of salvation as it directs to the places where Christ is present in His Church with His blessings and grace. About Our Liturgy will be an invaluable tool for both pastors and laypeople who long to grow in their understanding and appreciation of the Church's worship.

This word empowerment series, vocabulary-building workbook should accompany the Black Boy Kings reader, Black Boy Kings, Rulers, Warriors, and Nobles (The Making of Majesty) Chapter 1. Black boys? We often hear about the woes, troubles, and turmoil in the lives of these little men. Many in this world today want to make sure that little black boys know only what their perceived lives look like, through the eyes of others. I am specifically talking about the eyes of others, who, deep down inside, despise these little men. People of all races, colors, and creeds, including other black people. It is important to establish, and call out the fact that the world views them as despicable, which is evident by the desire to keep them in a perpetual state of youth, thus why the enslavers referred to them as 'boy' even when they came of age. They desire to keep them at a low state and will do it by any means necessary. Any means necessary? Yes, lies, deceit, trickery, sorcery, deceptive commentary, mind control, manipulation, and temptation. All of this is used, starting at a very young age, to turn the minds, and hearts of little black boys, so that they can grow to be adult, depraved men. The goal of the powers of darkness is to control every aspect of their lives until they no longer have an original thought of their own. Living and surviving off of implanted thoughts that have been embedded through mind-control and manipulation, is the result of a very targeted effort to do so. This is why we see the confusion, and dysfunction that is out of control, and going in a downward spiral to destruction. It is very detrimental at this point that parents, families, educational systems, clergy, or whoever has influence in a child's life, try to recognize the battle against these young impressionable minds. It is everyone's job to make the best impression, and be the best influence you can be on those you come in contact with.
Over the course of his time as a simply professed Dominican Friar, Sebastian Condon wrote an article for the local Catholic Newspaper once a month. Those articles are collected here for the first time as a complete volume. They offer a snapshot of religious life at the beginning of the twenty-first century, written by a young friar. Some articles are amusing and light-hearted in tone, others are more weighty and theological.Taken as a whole, these monthly installments demonstrate the lived experience of an eager young friar gradually becoming more reflective, and growing in awareness of the complexities of life and faith.
Ever wonder if you've taken a wrong turn on life's path? Or get confused about where to go next? How do you get going in the right direction? How can you find the path to the life you were created to have? Psalm 23 maps this path, word by word, and it is right there in front of you!Reading Psalm 23 is valuable, but understanding it is an entirely different matter. In this book we slow down and walk through this rich passage step by step, or word by word as we learn to follow the Good Shepherd through life. He is leading you and me to the amazing home He has prepared for us. Be patient, it will take a little time. Don't rush and risk getting lost. The complete insight into a contented life with Him is not revealed until the very last word. I promise you it will be worth the trip!
Since 2004, Gary Habermas has referenced his resurrection bibliography. Frequently, Habermas and Christian apologists assert that the scholarly consensus is that writers support the resurrection: a solid majority (about 75%) of scholars who have published books or articles on Jesus' resurrection accept the historicity of the empty tomb. However, Habermas has not presented supporting evidence for the past twenty years. This issue collects and presents factual data and information about the authors of nonjuvenile, English-language texts, at least forty-eight pages written during the past 500 years on Jesus' resurrection. Significant categories of data investigated include (1) degree(s) earned and level of education, (2) occupation and interests, and (3) religion or denomination. Approximately 775 books (including six double-counted debates) were surveyed, with 713 pros and 62 contras. Pro authors were 610 and forty-six contras. The data substantiates and expands the earlier report by Alter and Slade. This issue provides evidence that a remarkably high proportion of the English-language books written about Jesus' resurrection were by members of the clergy or people linked to seminaries and those having a professional and personal interest in the subject matter.
Habitats of the Basileia brings together some of the current and important work in biblical studies and theology, which takes seriously the demands and possibilities of applying contextual, feminist, decolonial, and ecological approaches to the critical study of the Bible and religion. The volume is inspired by the engaging work of Elaine M. Wainwright RSM; and invites us to imagine what thriving conditions and communities of the human and more-than-human might look like across multiple contexts.- What did it mean for those living in biblical times, or for the early Jesus movement who proclaimed an alternative basileia or kingdom against the backdrop of Roman imperial power?- What does it mean for various communities today, as we seek to understand and re-imagine what thriving conditions might look like in our own complex and often rapidly changing environments?Written by a diverse range of biblical, theological, and religious studies scholars, the chapters in this volume collectively argue for and demonstrate the importance of context and being attuned to social location in the production of biblical and theological scholarship. The essays are divided into three categories: the first seven chapters deal with the Gospel of Matthew, given the importance of this book to Elaine's work. The next nine chapters explore biblical texts beyond Matthew through various lenses including those of gender, colonialism, the environment, animal studies, contextual hermeneutics, and class. The final three chapters are concerned with the legacies of both Elaine's lifework and the broader avenues in current biblical research that have been nurtured and influenced through her efforts.
