Everyone needs someone to confide in--to pour out their feelings of hope and frustration, to describe their fears and share their joys. In Letters to Shirley, the author reflects on the daily happenings in her life, intimate meditations on God, and a trip or two down memory lane. Like real life, not everything is pretty, and even the spiritual moments do not always consist of bowed heads and celestial music. The writings are heartfelt and overflowing with raw honesty, the trustful confidences of one who opens her heart to a true friend. From bleak moments of darkness--including the death of a loved one and a cancer diagnosis--to the dawning rays of the light of hope, the letters reflect a journey of faith and trust and many blessings from God.And so the letters begin.

In an age of relativism many of life's most pertinent questions have been set aside in favor of leisure, entertainment, and other such trivialities. Despite these attempts at avoiding existential anxiety, one invariably asks himself: Why am I here? Where am I going? Is there a purpose and consequence to my existence? While Catholic apologetical works are common enough, "Eternally One, Eternally Three: An Introductory Journey from Atheism to Catholicism Through the Most Holy Trinity," offers something unique: life's most essential questions are systematically broken down for the average reader in a distinct Trinitarian fashion. Namely:1.The Father Almighty: Can a compelling case indeed be made for belief in the existence of God, or is it just nonsensical and naive superstition?2.The Only Begotten Son: Is one the world's religions more rational and compelling than its counterparts, or is each religion simply a similar path to an identical destination?3.The Holy Spirit: Has a specific denomination been entrusted a charism and sovereignty to resolve disputes regarding faith and morals, or are all expressions of Christianity equally authoritative? In the first section the reader is presented numerous introductory philosophical and scientific arguments for belief in the existence of God, as well as a solution to our human condition. In the second, the reader is presented with a compelling case for the veracity of Christianity, and rationale for why religious pluralism and an individualized spirituality are untenable alternatives to organized religion. In the third section the reader is provided numerous scriptural and Church father quotations which evince the validity of Catholicism and manifest its unmatched historical pedigree. Wherefore, whether you are atheist, agnostic, considering religious conversion, or simply seeking to bolster your Catholic faith, if you are truly seeking the answers to life's most pertinent questions, come and discover the beauty, richness, and depth of Catholicism.

"Sin is never a thing to be proud of. No act is wise that ignores remote consequences, and sin always does. How wise is the man who has made the God of Jacob his hope and has taken refuge in the Rock of Ages!" - A. W. TozerObedience. The word we don't want to hear, and we'd much rather not talk about. And yet, it is the heart of the Christian life.Salvation and obedience, Saviour and Lord-two sides of the same coin. To receive Christ as Saviour is to submit to Him without regard of the consequences. The world would call it foolishness. Tozer, however, thinks it the greatest wisdom of all.If all of eternity exists before us, and our singular earthly life determines the nature of our life in the next, what grave danger are we win, if we persist in digging, shovelling, working, so hard, to get a reward that will surely burn when Christ comes? In Obedience to Christ, Tozer attempts to breathe heaven into our lungs.

This book serves as a valuable introduction to comprehending the Holy Spirit and offers practical guidance for a Spirit-guided life. It arises from the author's personal struggle with maintaining a lasting connection with the Holy Spirit despite intermittent moments of divine insight. The book underscores the necessity of a consistent prayer life and daily Bible reading to preserve the blessings of the Spirit and cultivate the fruits of the Spirit, as God expects us to bear good fruit. The book emphasizes Jesus's plea to the Father for the Holy Spirit to enable us with a virtuous and fruitful life, turning away from sin and preparing for eternity. In its first part, the book explores the teachings of the Catholic Church concerning the Holy Spirit, including the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit, the Spirit's assistance, and sins against the Holy Spirit. In the subsequent part, it delves into practical strategies for living a Spirit-guided life and maintaining a connection with the Holy Spirit, offering insights into how to remain in the blessings of the Holy Spirit.

This work has emerged from efforts to attend Mass then having to leave with a deep sadness that does not easily go away, and the awareness that I am not alone in this. This book is not intended for anyone who is able to happily participate in the sacramental life of the Church, nor is it intended to encourage anyone to stop doing so. As a faithful Catholic has a right to the sacraments, this ritual is for those faithful members of the People of God who are finding themselves unable to do so and still yearning to, a way to help those of us who feel pushed to the margins. In other words, the purpose of this little book is to help faithful Catholics stay in the Church. The core of this ritual is our identity as priests in the common priesthood of Jesus. Each baptized follower of Jesus the Christ has been anointed priest, prophet, and royal. As vassal kings and queens of the King of kings and queens, each of us has been gifted with power rooted in our imago dei, being created in the image of God with gifts and talents we are meant to use to wash the feet of humanity and participate in God's ongoing creative and healing work. As a prophet each of us will be called to speak a truth that God wants heard by a person, a community, or by the whole world, and speaking this truth will involve risk. As a priest in the common priesthood of Jesus the Christ, each of us is called to be in a personal relationship with the one God and to be in communion with God along with each human we encounter. And as priests we are given the power and duty to forgive, a power we use in the first place at home. The Agape Meal Prayers, probably from the late 1st century AD might be best suited today for what we call a potluck supper or dinner on the ground, where everyone brings what they have and there is equal sharing, or perhaps for large family reunions. The Eucharistic Prayer is from the Apostolic Tradition, from about 215 AD, the prayer that I use regularly in these days. The Anaphora of Addai & Mari, probably also from the 3rd century, is still the core of some Eastern Eucharistic Prayers. While a deacon, priest or bishop is the ordinary minister of Baptism, in cases of necessity even a non-Christian with the intention of doing so for the Church can baptize as long as water and the words (I baptize you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit) are used. As a pastor I developed a Candidacy for Confirmation, used sometimes at a Sunday Mass and sometimes at the end of a Confirmation retreat, and offer it here for a sponsor and parents. The ritual for Marriage can be used by an officiant of a civil marriage. It recognizes that the spouses themselves confer the sacrament of marriage onto each other in their mutual exchange of consents, and it is their identity as priests in the common priesthood of believers that empowers them to do so. The Prayers for the Sick and the Commendation of the Dying are not to take the place of the Sacrament of Anointing, but recognize that there will be times when a priest is not available and we trust in God's mercy. Though a Funeral is normally presided over by a priest or deacon, a graveside service can be done by anyone. For the closing Blessings in this book, as with any blessing by the lay faithful, the leader simply signs themselves with the sign of thecross along with everyone else. If prayer is done with a group of people, consider making copies and inviting all present to read the prayers together. From the institutional church I beg patience and forbearance with all of this. I know this is not easy. Please remember that Catholics who feel marginalized are also being asked to continue being patient with our institutional church. For more visit idjc.org.

Dr. Phillip Haeuser's critical look at the Epistle of Barnabas.First written in German in 1912 it has gone through numerous editions and is found in many theological libraries in the United States. The Epistle of Barnabas was written by the Apostle Barnabas to Christians undergoing persecution in the Roman Empire. It encourages them to hold fast to the Faith, and explains why their faith is superior to that of the Old Covenant.Fr. The work was originally written as his thesis for his Doctor of Theology degree from the Albert Ludwig University in Freiburg. Many footnotes are included for the serious student of the Apostolic Fathers.

  • af David Hoggan

In volume I of the Blind Century Professor Hoggan primarily looked at the rise of America and her messianic illusions of Manifest Destiny which included not only subjugating the American continent, but all of South America and ultimately the world - a fulfilled Manifest Destiny under which we now live in this 21st Century. The 20th Century - the "American Century" - is a result of this messianic drive, and the consequences for Europe were devastating. Europe is the cradle of our Indo-European peoples and of Western Christian Civilization, and the centrality of all that entails. The rise of messianic America, and then of the USSR resulted in the destruction of the heartlands of our civilization, culture, and science. Some of his prophecies have not yet happened, such as the collapse of the United States - because of the destruction of the dollar, her demographics and ethnic constituency - but are looming on the horizon. Indeed the U.S. has somewhat reinvented itself several times to maintain her power and prestige, particularly after causing the collapse of her long-time ally and some-time enemy, the Soviet Union, but the massive debt bomb in ticking and the world is becoming restless. How long the juggling continue, no one knows. Certainly not forever as we balance on the precipice of World War III with a revanchist Russia now being fought in Ukraine as an American and NATO proxy war.Hoggan writes in favor of a revived Europe which he hopes will be able to eventually throw off American (and Russian) rule and reestablish herself as the Center of a renewed and re-enheartened Western Civilization and Christendom.

All too often Jesus is presented as a weakling, a tender man without strength, or as Jesus our lover. These dishonor the historic Jesus who was extremely masculine, who fought against the Pharisees, drove out the money changers from the temple using a whip, overturning their tables. This Jesus is far too violent for the effeminate Christianity of today. Thus, he had to be toned down, to become someone who would not give offense to anyone. And then churches wonder why young men are leaving en masse. When our European ancestors converted to the Faith of Christ it was because they recognized his manly virtures in eschewing death, and boldly presently his message of the Kingdom, the Gospel, without fear or favor. This is the Christ that Fr. Haeuser, a biblical scholar and pastor, brings back to life before us. He speaks of those mysterious words of Christ about leaving house and family, forsaking all, and shows the proper context for understanding Christ's mission as the Warrior Son of God.Christianity is not a religion of death and sin, it is a manly faith which urges us onward to establish the rule and reign of Christ the King in order to fulfill our divine destiny

The Sacred Heart of Jesus, by noted nineteenth-century French prelate Mgr. Louis Gaston de Ségur, is a series of over thirty lessons and meditations designed to inspire the pious reader with a true and ardent devotion to the Sacred Heart. The book notably draws from Our Lord's revelations to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque and the writings of St. John Eudes. In the words of Mgr. de Ségur, "The purpose of this little work is to popularize the knowledge and therefore the love and worship of the Most Adorable and Most Sacred Heart of Our Lord Jesus Christ.... If I have the happiness of obtaining my goal, this little book can be of great service to those thousands of holy priests, zealous missionaries, fervent religious, and good and pious mothers of families seeking through all means to make truly known, served, and loved around them the God of their heart and the Heart of their God.... Our Lord having presented His Heart to be the refuge of souls in the trials of the last times, this work seems to me to enter His merciful designs." Included in the front of the book is an apostolic letter from His Holiness Pope Pius IX commending Mgr. de Ségur for his zeal in producing this edifying work.

The First Friday devotion is based on the apparitions of Jesus Christ to Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque, a French nun, in the 17th Century. Our Lord requested special prayers and devotions to honor and make amends for the offenses committed against His Sacred Heart. These involve making a holy hour on the first Friday of each month for nine consecutive months. First Fridays with the Sacred Heart offers inspiration and guidance for this devotion.

ARE YOU ADVANCING IN YOUR SPIRITUAL LIFE?Translated from the original Spanish by Fr. Joseph Rickaby, SJ, this book is a tool to help you progress further in your spiritual life. As Jesus exhorted, "You must be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect;" as holy Church teaches, we cannot see God face-to-face until we, ourselves, are also "perfect." These three volumes present in a clear manner what constitutes perfection, and how to grow in it by the cultivation of the virtues. It is very specific and practical, and by the grace of God, you will be enabled to run in the way of God's commands, heart overflowing with the inexpressible delights of Love.Fr. Alphonsus Rodriguez, born in Spain, 1526, lived during a time when the Jesuits were elite troops in the battle for the salvation of souls. Rodriguez was a priest of exemplary virtue; in the Society he was entrusted for many years with the high responsibility of care of souls and exhorting the brethren. The present volumes are the fruit of those labors. From the author: "I reflected that it is a practice very much recommended by saints, to read something every day that may promote our spiritual advancement. This being the principal design of the following work, I have laid before you, as clearly and briefly as I was able, such things as are more essential. These will serve as a mirror wherein, if we daily view ourselves, we shall be enabled to correct our imperfections and decorate our souls as will render them most pleasing to the eyes of His Divine Majesty. I call it Practice because things are treated in such a manner as may render the practice very easy."Although addressed to his Jesuit brethren, he wrote this work to be useful to all persons who aspire to Christian perfection.PRACTICE OF PERFECTION AND CHRISTIAN VIRTUESTHREE VOLUME SETISBNs:PAPERBACK:Volume One: 978-1-945275-81-4Volume Two: 978-1-945275-82-1Volume Three: 978-1-945275-83-8HARDBACK:Volume One: 978-1-945275-78-4Volume Two: 978-1-945275-79-1Volume Three: 978-1-945275-80-7
