Zafarnama, or "Epistle of Victory," is a remarkable work of Persian literature written by the renowned Sikh guru, Guru Gobind Singh. Originally written in Persian, Zafarnama is a poetic letter addressed to the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, written in the aftermath of a fierce battle between the Sikhs and the Mughals. In this powerful letter, Guru Gobind Singh passionately defends the principles of justice, equality, and religious freedom, and chastises Aurangzeb for his brutal treatment of the Sikh community. Through vivid and emotive language, the Guru makes a compelling case for the righteousness of the Sikh cause and the unjustness of Aurangzeb's actions. This English translation of Zafarnama provides readers with a rare glimpse into the mind of one of India's most revered spiritual leaders. It is a work that speaks not only to the Sikh community but to all those who value the principles of justice, tolerance, and compassion. With its stirring poetry and compelling message, Zafarnama is a literary treasure that has inspired generations of readers and continues to resonate with readers today.

The pandemic, climate change, rising populism, geo-political unrest - just a few of the issues causing turbulence in today's world. We are living and working in times that are complex and fast changing. If complexity theory is good for anything, it must be able to throw light on this global landscape and help us to think through what to do in response. Jean Boulton, with her background in the physical as well as the social sciences, and her practical experience of management and consultancy, is well placed to present complexity theory and its implications in a way that is fresh, profound and accessible. The Dao of Complexity is a book about challenging and deepening worldviews, connecting ideas from such diverse fields as quantum physics, process philosophy, phenomenology, systems change, politics, economics and psychology as well as ancient wisdom. It explores what 'making sense' of the world means in these turbulent times and how that galvanises action. The book introduces 'process complexity'. It explores the remarkable resonance between the complexity worldview and Daoism, engaging with the processual, contextual and emergent nature both of ourselves and of the world of which we are a part. Jean discusses what this means for those of us trying to make a difference, trying to 'make waves' in a world of increasing connectivity, polarisation and fragility. Taking its lead from Daoist texts, the design encourages readers to open at any page and use the short, stand-alone, yet networked pieces as reflective starting points. This book is about change - how to attune to its natural flow and how to 'make change happen'. It will be of interest to scholars and students of management and sustainability, as well as practicing managers, policy makers and consultants looking for inspiration. The general reader interested in science, philosophy and ancient wisdom will find relatable material to explore how to engage effectively in this complex world.

This second edition of Gerald Keil's thought-provoking book includes new material on the practical application of the Badí' calendar as well as examining its historical background and symbolic significance. The Badí' calendar is derived directly from the revealed writings of both the Báb and Bahá'u'lláh and is a component part of the revelation of Bahá'u'lláh. The inherent symbolism of the calendar, however, has until now remained largely unexplored, so that the systematic investigation presented by this wide-ranging, impressive study is no doubt the ¿rst of its kind. One of the main themes of the book is that the Badí' calendar is creative in the sense that, through its symbolic association with different aspects of the Bahá'í Faith, it can serve to represent and illustrate many of the central tenets of the Faith. Symbol and object converge in the Badí'calendar in a manner which is unique in the entire revelation. The full effect the Badí' calendar will have on society is hardly predictable at present or in the near future. Just as the actual unfolding of the World Order of Bahá'u'lláh will reveal to future generations aspects of practical and spiritual life which we cannot even imagine today, so too willthe world-wide application of the Badí' calendar exert an influence on the physical and spiritual rhythm of life in a fashion and to a degree which we cannot yet appreciate. The meaning of the Badí' calendar will ¿rst become fully evident to those privileged to live in the pulse of this future World Order.

"...an amazing tale, told in a fast-paced and entertaining style." --Publishers Weekly This is the latest edition of Opening the Dragon Gate--the authorized biography of contemporary Taoist master Wang Liping (1949--). Wang is an 18th generation transmitter of Dragon Gate Taoism. This book tells the true story of his apprenticeship in Taoist wizardry, as well as the specialized body of knowledge, mystical wisdom and ritualized practice accumulated and refined over eleven centuries. His story begins with a seemingly chance encounter with three Taoist elders when he was a young boy. What follows is a philosophical quest in a coming-of-age tale like no other, playing out in mountainside temples and remote reaches of China. Wang's story parallels that of the Dalai Lama, as--like Tibetan Buddhists--Dragon Gate Taoists identify, raise and train specially chosen youngsters to become the holders, guardians and transmitters of their ancient, esoteric spiritual wisdom. While few of us will become spiritual gurus like Wang, his story speaks clearly and concisely to modern readers who are on their own "chosen paths," seeking their own forms of self-cultivation, enlightenment, wisdom and a life of greater harmony and truth.
Ifá: A Forest of Mystery by Nicholaj de Mattos Frisvold is a major study on the cosmology, metaphysics, philosophy and divination system of Ifá, written by a tradition holder and member of the council of elders, known as the Ogboni society, of Abeokuta, Nigeria. Ifá - an alternative name for its prophet Òrúnmìlà - is a religion, a wisdom tradition and a system of divination encoding the rich and complex oral and material culture of the Yoruba people. The Yoruba culture is grounded in memory, an ancestral repository of wisdom, that generates good counsel, advises appropriate ebo (sacrifice) and opens the way to develop a good character on our journey through life and in our interactions with the visible and invisible worlds. The work is a presentation of the first sixteen odù of the Ifá corpus of divination verses explained in stories, allegories and proverbs reflecting the practical wisdom of Ifá. The work is both a presentation of Ifá for those with little knowledge of it, and a dynamic presentation of the wealth of its wisdom for those already familiar with Ifá. The deities and key concepts of Ifá metaphysics are discussed, including: Obàtálá, Ònilé, Sàngó, Ògún, Oya, Òsányìn, Yemoja, Èsù, àse (power), egúngún (ancestry), ìwà (character), and orí (head/consciousness/daimon). Notably, Dr Frisvold has created a work which celebrates the Yoruba wisdom tradition and makes a bridge with the Western world. It is of value for the light that it casts on the origins and mysteries of Èsù and òrìsà, and an important source for those practicing Quimbanda, Palo, Santeria, Vodou and the African Diaspora religions. Yet its lessons are universal, for it is the art of developing character, of attracting good fortune and accruing wisdom in life. As Nicholaj writes: '...Ifá is a philosophy, a theogony, theology and cosmology rooted in a particular metaphysic that concerns itself with the real and the ideal, the world and its beginning. It is rooted in the constitution of man and the purpose of life and the nature of fate. Ifá is a philosophy of character. The philosophy of Ifá lies at the root of any religious cult or organization involving the veneration of òrìsà. [...] Through stories and legends, divinatory verses and proverbs, this philosophy will be revealed piece by piece until the landscape has been laid open before you... '

This book explores the symbiotic relationship that exists between African spirituality and ethics. Felix Murove discusses how these two concepts are entwined, and illustrates how they play a role in applied ethical issues. He argues that the general understanding of spirituality in Africa stems from Christianity, which has had a negative impact on African indigenous spirituality. The conceptual tools that run throughout the book are considerably Afro-centric, a methodological strategy which inevitably requires the reader to adopt some prior willingness to learn these Afro-centric concepts without easily resorting to western Christian and philosophical categories of thought. The book advocates for an Afro-centric conceptualization of spirituality and ethics, and encourages the reader to adopt a more holistic approach to African spirituality.

This collection focuses on the role of religious leaders and religious institutions in supporting or resisting the democratization process in Zimbabwe. It scrutinizes the actions of religious leaders such Andrew Wutawunashe and Jeremiah Mutendi who were prominent in the political scene and participated as enablers of the undemocratic regime. The contributors to this volume employ a variety of methodological approaches to understand the operational dilemma of the second republic under Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, commonly referred to as Zanupfism. It is an empirical study to determine the impact of religious leaders as regime enablers and assess the effects of such an approach in terms of social development, democracy, and social transformation as espoused in the rise of the second republic. In order to balance the narrative, the book highlights and offers critique of religious leaders and institutes who are the resistors of the regime. It specifically explores the Zimbabwe Catholic Bishops Conference, Evangelical Fellowship of Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe Council of Churches, Talent Chiwenga and Shingi Munyeza. This is a critical study of decoloniality in a religious context that documents characters such as Shingi Mayeza, Bishop Mutendi, Mapostori who seldomly appear in scholarship despite their great impact (either positive or negative) on the lives of the people of Zimbabwe.

Draws on indigenous African political thought in order to construct a political philosophy that will resist and restrain necropolitics and promote human flourishing in Africa.
Applies a method of comparative cultural hermeneutics to let the tradition speak on its own terms.
Is the Qur'anic notion of faith reconcilable with a modern notion of freedom? The present work is an attempt to examine the possibility of a positive response to this question.Inspired by transcendental philosophy as developed by Kant and Fichte and later elaborated by Hermann Krings, the author provides a reformulation of the notion of faith in the Qur'an as "transcendental affirmation". It is argued in the book that faith in the Qur'an has to do with belief in transformation through affirmation, and that the lack of faith is associated with submitting oneself to systems of necessity and their immutability. It is obvious that in such a worldview there is hardly any place for freedom and for hope.Through the reformulation of the Islamic notion of faith as transcendental affirmation, the author has provided the possibility of speaking of transcendental freedom within the arena of Islamic Theology.
Orthodox churches in Ukraine and Russia share a common ecclesiastical tradition but differ in their views on practicing and interpreting it. To bolster their own views, different Orthodox churches emphasize different aspects of history, and >forget< others, not favorable for their interpretations. These intentional memorizing also influence on the churches' reflection of their position and role in society at large.Interpretations of ecclesiastical tradition also influence the Orthodox churches' reactions to the other churches in Ukraine. Abroad, ecclesiastical organizations, especially ecumenical bodies are also influenced by the Ukrainian Orthodoxy, and have influence on the Ukrainian and Russian Orthodoxy, when recognizing or leaving without recognition the multiplicity of the Orthodox faith in Ukraine and Russia.
Reevaluates Western and Chinese philosophical traditions to question the boundaries of entrenched conceptual frameworks.
Draws on Guo Xiang's commentary on the Zhuangzi to construct an account of freedom that is both metaphysical and political.
