A sweeping historical epic and a radical new interpretation of Vasco da Gama's groundbreaking voyages, seen as a turning point in the struggle between Christianity and IslamIn 1498 a young captain sailed from Portugal, circumnavigated Africa, crossed the Indian Ocean, and discovered the sea route to the Indies and, with it, access to the fabled wealth of the East. It was the longest voyage known to history. The little ships were pushed beyond their limits, and their crews were racked by storms and devastated by disease. However, their greatest enemy was neither nature nor even the sheer dread of venturing into unknown worlds that existed on maps populated by coiled, toothy sea monsters. With bloodred Crusader crosses emblazoned on their sails, the explorers arrived in the heart of the Muslim East at a time when the old hostilities between Christianity and Islam had risen to a new level of intensity. In two voyages that spanned six years, Vasco da Gama would fight a running sea battle that would ultimately change the fate of three continents. An epic tale of spies, intrigue, and treachery; of bravado, brinkmanship, and confused and often comical collisions between cultures encountering one another for the first time; Holy War also offers a surprising new interpretation of the broad sweep of history. Identifying Vasco da Gama's arrival in the East as a turning point in the centuries-old struggle between Islam and Christianity?one that continues to shape our world?Holy War reveals the unexpected truth that both Vasco da Gama and his archrival, Christopher Columbus, set sail with the clear purpose of launching a Crusade whose objective was to reach the Indies; seize control of its markets in spices, silks, and precious gems from Muslim traders; and claim for Portugal or Spain, respectively, all the territories they discovered. Vasco da Gama triumphed in his mission and drew a dividing line between the Muslim and Christian eras of history?what we in the West call the medieval and the modern ages. Now that the world is once again tipping back East, Holy War offers a key to understanding age-old religious and cultural rivalries resurgent today.

"Excursion of Limitless Disclosures" welcomes perusers on an uncommon investigation into the domains of movement, divulging a story that rises above regular get-away stories. In this dazzling odyssey, each page is an entryway to unseen scenes, social fortunes, and individual disclosures. The book opens with an encouragement to set out on an extraordinary excursion - one that rises above the ordinary and dives into the significant. The story guarantees a progression of objections as well as a kaleidoscope of encounters that rethink the pith of movement. As perusers turn the pages, they are cleared away into a reality where each step turns into a disclosure, and each experience is a door to boundless revelations. The center subject of the book rotates around the thought that an excursion isn't just about the actual demonstration of moving starting with one spot then onto the next. A spirit blending experience spreads out layers of self-improvement, social comprehension, and self-disclosure. The story winds around together travel tales, intelligent accounts, and lovely portrayals, making an embroidery that praises the extravagance of the actual excursion. All through the "Excursion of Limitless Disclosures," perusers experience a different cluster of scenes, from the quiet peacefulness of nature's miracles to the clamoring energy of energetic urban communities. Every objective is painstakingly chosen to offer an interesting point of view on the multi-layered embroidery of the world. The exposition colors striking representations of dusks over old destroys, the musical rhythm of clamoring markets, and the stunning glory of untamed wild. Social investigation becomes the dominant focal point as the account dives into the complexities of neighborhood customs, customs, and the ageless stories implanted in legacy. The peruser turns into a member in celebrations, witnesses the death of customs through ages, and offers in the widespread human experience that ties us across landmasses. At the core of the excursion lies the idea of self-revelation. As the hero wanders into the obscure, they defy difficulties that reflect the deterrents in their inward scene. The story explores the ups and downs of the human soul, delineating that the way to self-revelation is frequently just about as unusual as the geological landscape. The story isn't just an assortment of movement stories; it's a philosophical investigation of the actual pith of being. Subjects of versatility, flexibility, and the interconnectedness of all things arise as the explorer wrestles with the unexplored world. The "Excursion of Endless Disclosures" is a challenge to embrace the vulnerabilities, relish the current second, and find comfort in the acknowledgment that the world is a huge embroidery ready to be investigated. In the last sections, the account completes the cycle, taking the peruser back to the beginning stage of the excursion. However, they return not as a similar individual who set out but rather as a changed person with a freshly discovered viewpoint on life. The excursion, it appears, is a consistent pattern of investigation, a demonstration of the endless revelations that anticipate those ready to set out on the experience that could only be described as epic.

Seventeenth-century pirate genius William Dampier sailed around the world three times when crossing the Pacific was a major feat, was the first explorer to visit all five continents, and reached Australia eighty years before Captain Cook. His exploits created a sensation in Europe. Swift and Defoe used his experiences in writing Gulliver's Travels and Robinson Crusoe. Darwin incorporated his concept of "sub-species" into the theory of evolution. Dampier's description of breadfruit was the impetus for Captain Bligh's voyage on the Bounty. He was so influential that today he has more than one thousand entries in the Oxford English Dictionary, including such words as chopsticks, barbecue, and kumquat. Anthropologists still use his work.

For decades researchers have tried to find the famed Beale Treasure without knowing the exact location and details of the transactions that surround it. Today that changes with the publication of all new research including: deeds, letters, bills of sale, inventories and genealogical information that relates the family who possessed it. This book will contain the genealogy of Robert Morris' Family along with his wife's Sarah Mitchell. It will also contain not only the locations of "Hunter's Hill" and "Roslin" but all the deeds, maps and aerials to confirm they are the right locations. Another chapter or two has all the deeds from the beginning of a town lot will be when and where the Washington Inn or Tavern was constructed, who built it and when, the materials constructed from was a three story brick building built in 1817 and owned for 42 years by the same individual, who leased the Washington Inn to Robert Morris and a host of others. In the Appendix at the end of the book will be the inventory sheets of two businesses ran by Robert Morris and his brother in law, William Mitchell Jr., and James Dunnington, in the town of Centreville, Virginia from 1803 to 1809. This is all new research. Nothing has been rehashed from other books. If you want the story with the 3 codes deciphered you will have to purchase my earlier book, "Lost Diary of Thomas J. Beall." This book has references from beginning to end on every page. Enjoy reading the new revelations about the Beale Treasure and best of luck in locating it!

Equal parts The Right Stuff and The Boys in the Boat, Into Unknown Skies tells the unbelievable history of the 1924 race to circumnavigate the globe for the first time by air, a nail-biting contest that pitted underdog US pilots against their better-funded European rivals, created technology that changed aviation, and convinced America that its future was in the sky. In the early 1920s, America's faith in aviation was in shambles. Twenty years after the Wright Brothers' first flight, most Americans believed airplanes were for delivering the mail or performing daredevil stunts in front of crowds. The dream of commercial air travel remained just that. Even the American military was a skeptic--rather than pay to bring its planes back from Europe following World War I, the War Department chose to burn most of them instead. All that changed with a single race in 1924. It was not just any race, though--it was a race to become the first to circle the globe in an airplane, pitting a team of four underdog American pilots against the best aviators in the world from England, Italy, Portugal, France, and Argentina. Rooted in the same daring spirit that pushed early twentieth-century explorers to attempt crossings of the Antarctic ice or locate the source of the Nile, this race was an adventure unlike anything the world had seen before. The obstacles were daunting--from experimental planes, to dangerous landings in uncharted territory, to the simple navigational gauges that could lead pilots hundreds of miles off course. Failure seemed all but guaranteed--the suspense less about who would win than how many would perish for the honor of being the first. Now on the race's centennial, award-winning author David K. Randall tells the story of this riveting, long-forgotten race. Through larger-than-life characters, treacherous landings, disease, and ultimately triumph, Into Unknown Skies demonstrates how one race returned America to aviation greatness. A story of underdog teammates, bold exploration, and American ingenuity, Into Unknown Skies is an untold adventure tale showing the power of flight to bring the world together.

"The South Pole discovered" trumpeted the front page of The Daily Chronicle on March 8, 1912, marking Roald Amundsen's triumph over the tragic Robert Scott. Yet behind all the headlines there was a much bigger story. Antarctica was awash with expeditions. In 1912, five separate teams representing the old and new world were diligently embarking on scientific exploration beyond the edge of the known planet. Their discoveries not only enthralled the world, but changed our understanding of the planet forever. Tales of endurance, self–sacrifice, and technological innovation laid the foundations for modern scientific exploration, and inspired future generations. To celebrate the centenary of this groundbreaking work, 1912: The Year the World Discovered Antarctica revisits the exploits of these different expeditions. Looking beyond the personalities and drawing on his own polar experience, Chris Turney shows how their discoveries marked the dawn of a new age in our understanding of the natural world. He makes use of original and exclusive unpublished archival material and weaves in the latest scientific findings to show how we might reawaken the public's passion for discovery and exploration
