Anthropomorphic prosthetic hands must resemble human hands concerning their kinematic abilities and significant features such as object recognition on grasp. Implementation of object recognition by prosthetic hands require prior information on the extrinsic structural properties of objects as well as the hand's position and orientation. Object recognition approaches are primarily of two categories: vision and tactile. Vision-based learning methods have dominated the realm of object recognition for robotic and prosthetic hands in the past decades. Relying only on vision is not sufficient for the perceptual requirements of a prosthetic hand. The human hand is a complex structure with multiple degrees of freedom (DoF), leading to various movements and grasp formations. Acquiring the full range of motion in the fingers and the wrist during prosthetic hand development is critical. Creating such dexterity involves an intense investigation to extract knowledge of motion and joint constraints in the phalanges and wrist bones. The increase of digital information in the current age has elevated the demands of semantically rich annotations for applications shared over the internet. In recent years, the popularity of philosophical knowledge representation methods like ontology to under stand and utilize relevant domain concepts for problem specifications has escalated. Ontologies are significant in providing a meaningful schema by linking unstructured data. Object recognition during a grasp is an essential attribute in a prosthetic hand, which takes its development closer to its natural counterpart.

The human eye is a sensing organ for vision. It is well-constructed to gather the information about the surrounding environment. The retina is the light-sensitive tissue located in the back of the eye. It accumulates light focused by the lens, turns it into neural impulses, and transfers these signals to the optic nerve. The optic nerve transports the signal to the brain and aids visual processing. The fundus camera supports capturing the eye's interior surface, including the retina, vasculature, Optic Nerve Head (ONH), and posterior pole. It aids in interpreting retinal characteristics and is used to screen the patients with sight-threatening retinal disorders. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 43 million people are blind, 295 million have moderate to severe visual impairment, and 258 million have mild vision impairment. Many studies attest that Glaucoma is the prominent cause of blindness, accounting for around 3.12 million cases worldwide, and the leading cause of visual disability. The Glaucoma sufferers prediction rises to roughly 111.8 million in 2040 and 117 million in 2050 due to the constant increase in population. Glaucoma is a degenerative eye disease that affects the vision peripherally and gradually leads to blindness due to increased Intra Ocular Pressure (IOP) and changes in the retinal structure like Optic Disc (OD) and Optic Cup (OC). Early diagnosis and quick treatment for Glaucoma are critical for preserving visual function and preventing permanent vision loss. Glaucoma comprises a group of ocular neuropathies characterized by gradual loss of retinal ganglion cells, optic nerve degeneration, and vision loss. Additionally, Glaucoma patients experience a severe reduction in their visual field, which is asymptomatic until the disease progresses to an advanced stage. Clinical trials were conducted to assess the disease's progression stages, ranging from mild to advanced, using numerous risk factors and anatomic features. Diagnosis of disease necessitates a thorough examination, several tests, and access to various diagnostic modalities. This complex, subjective detection method is hampered by various challenges, including a lack of patient awareness of the disease, a lack of healthcare facilities, and a paucity of trained professionals, particularly in remote locations.

Computers with their inherent ability to store large amount of information have found vast applications in the field of banking, e-commerce, agriculture science, decision support systems, expert systems, image processing etc. In science and Engineering there is a vast scope of applications in Digital image processing in the years to come. There is every possibility of developing a final machine-like human beings where image processing plays an important role. Satellites of remote sensing through spacecrafts, store of images for the purpose of business in banks, processing of images in medicals, manmade machines, acoustic, sonar, radar are some of the list of applications where "Digital Image Processing" DIP is anchored. In predicting the environment, in searching the resources which are inside the earth, geographical drawings, crop predictions, growth of population, forecasting the weather, etc are carried out by images. "Mars Orbit Mission" MOM, Images are taken in the deep space, in television broadcasting, audio conferencing, video conferencing, duplicating the documents in case of office automation, security systems in banks, wireless military communication are some of the application of images in space. There are such large areas of application where image processing plays a vital role. In medical applications, X-rays of chest are processed, Cineangio grams, transaxial tomography projection of images, and other images obtained from medical fields that occur in ultrasonic scanning, , nuclear, radiology, magnetic resonance respectively are being carried out. The screening and monitoring of these diseases in patients are done and also detection of trauma is also carried out. Various systems in defense recognizes their targets by using Radar and sonar. There is large listing of applications such as vision of the robot in automation industry, creating a cartoon and in industries of textiles for fashion. The term "Digital Image processing" (DIP) is processing a 2D image in a digital computer. A large and finite number of bits arranged in a particular order in real or complex scenario are called a digital image. An algorithmic and mathematical tool employed in digital image manipulation is called "Digital Image processing" (DIP).The process of identifying the bulk grain depending upon their type is called classification and the presence or absence of foreign body is detected are classified as impure or pure. Classification of bulk grain and detection of foreign body in it is the major challenge. This is done by building a appropriate neural network prototype for the classification and recognition of the images of grains with different features with respect to their types and based on foreign body in terms of pure/impure using the feature sets of three alternate sets of shades, appearance, combination of both shades and appearance respectively and detecting of foreign body and type of impure sample. Digital camera is used to get the images samples of different grains, and image processing techniques are used in separation of features such as color and texture. A classifier is used based on BPNN for the purpose of training. The purity and impurity of the grains is trailed by using the network thus developed. A technique of segmentation and thresholding is used for the impure images to identify the foreign body and category.

The fast-paced technological developments have rendered the role of digital images very common in the present scenario. Not only the technology is used to savour and store our memories of events, gatherings, news and other memorable moments, but also used digital images and digital media as a proof of crime, accident, and other such events for justice and legal actions. This comes from the most fundamental concept of "we trust what we see". However, this fact is also abused in terms of photo forgeries. With digital computers and image-editing software, it's simpler to change digital images. This includes fabricated digital photos that are presented as evidence in court or are used to recreate a crime scene. Authenticating such evidence is crucial in such situations in order to fairly resolve the case. For example, according to Wall Street Journal, approximately 10% photographs published in the USA are digitally reformed. Even original scientific reports are also been altered to modify the original data. Sometimes forgeries may not be detected by using conventional image verification methods, such as, naked eyes, histogram, comparison of pixel values etc.. Hence, there is a requirement of a more reliable tool to identify a forgery more accurately. These tools are usually based on physical and mechanical properties of digital images and sensors, respectively, to detect any abnormality in an image. Furthermore, image manipulation tools evolve with latest technical developments, and hence, these forgery detection methods require to be more robust and more reliable. Although digital image forgery detection and security of the information in a digital image (steganography) may look like the same process, however the two are different in nature. While the first one deals with identification of image manipulation without knowing any changes in base images, whereas the second one requires hiding information in base images to identify any changes happening to the images later on.

This book shows how different types of motion can be disambiguated into their components in a richer way than that currently possible in computer vision.Previous research of motion analysis has generally not yet considered the basic nature of higher orders of motion such as acceleration. Hence, this book introduces an approximation of the acceleration field using established optical flow techniques. Further, acceleration is decomposed into radial and tangential based on geometry and propagated as a general motion descriptor; this book shows the capability for differentiating different types of motion both on synthesized data and real image sequences.Beyond acceleration, the higher orders of motion flow and their continuant parts are investigated for further revealing the chaotic motion fields. Naturally, it is possible to extend this notion further: to detect higher orders of image motion. In this respect, this book shows how jerk and snap can be obtained from image sequences. The derived results on test images and heel strike detection in gait analysis illustrate the ability of higher-order motion, which provide the basis for the following research and applications in the future. We hope that the publication of this book will bring a new perspective to researchers and graduate students in the field of video analysis in computer vision.
